There’s definitely some attenuating of the high frequencies, for sure! That’s one of the things that makes it great for lofi! Really smooths out the high end of a sound.

It basically just glues all of your drums together. It compresses, saturates/distorts, filters out some high end harshness, and even has a knob on there that can boost the bass like craaaaazy lol. It’s one of my go-tos for when I want my drums to hit harder, and sound more cohesive.

Sorry for responding so late! You’re not the first person to ask this question, so I’ve been thinking about making more tutorial-based videos when I have more free time. There’s already a lot of great material out there though, so I’m not exactly sure what I’d be adding lol, but sounds like it could be fun. In the meantime, you can check out some of Underbelly’s Ableton tutorials, and Drew Grit has some pretty good production stuff as well. I haven’t watched it yet, but the Ethan Davis video “Music Production for Beginners” video looks like it could be a good place to start, too.
