    In this video I walk through a quick project I recently completed. I added a relay to power my DRL lights in the OZ-USA light bar. This same method can be used to power Raptor style grill lights.

    Simple but super helpful as always WF41. Instead of the lightbar you should have just installed two bat signals in the grill ;) for the drl

    Very clean work.
    Do you know of a wire diagram showing what each color wire represents on the factory harness that connects to the lights? In other words, how did you determine the white w/orange stripe is the marker wire? I’d like to tap the white led running lights that surround the headlight housing. Thanks for any advise.

    • @WaterFowler41
      @WaterFowler41  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I talked with a Ram tech who helped me confirm the white and orange wire was the wire to tape into. I’m not sure about the white LEDs. I’ve found it easy to post on one of the Ram Facebook groups and asking anyone if they have a pinout diagram for our headlights.

      Your videos are super helpful. I’m attempting to always have the DRL on and full LED on a switch. Will the light bar DRL feature be on if your lights are set to Auto or do you have to turn on the marker setting with your install?

    • @WaterFowler41

      Yes but it also has a 12 v source directly from the battery that powers the light when the relay is closed.

    What wire would you Tap to have your lights come on at night with your headlight?

    • @WaterFowler41
      @WaterFowler41  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      off hand I don't know but I would grab one of the ancillary lights for any sort of accent or DRL lighting and not the main headlight. That's one circuit I would leave untouched.

  • @bradturner4832
    @bradturner4832 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    so could you run the power from the relay to the light bar and also 3-4 of the 3/4" LED lights in the grill safely?

    • @WaterFowler41
      @WaterFowler41  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I ran the drl in my light bar and my grill lights on the same power but I wouldn’t suggest running the main lights in the bar on a shared circuit.

    Do you have a video showing the install of the 30 amp fuse block off the battery or a link for the fuse block? Looking to slowly start adding some lights and that looks like an easier and cleaner way then an inline fuse for each light.

  • @rustyjoe25

    You lost me a little when you got over to your battery. So is it hooked into your Trigger? Or is it directly connected to your battery but through a fuse block?

    • @WaterFowler41
      @WaterFowler41  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a fuse block hanging off the side of my battery for my stereo amp. It has two outputs. 1 for my stereo and the other I use for the trigger. So the trigger gets a fuse power feed.

    • @rustyjoe25
      @rustyjoe25 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WaterFowler41 So it’s a fuse box that runs directly off your battery, two outputs, one to your trigger and one to your stereo amp, But you’re using the stereo amp output double duty for the stereo amp and the light bar. So if I don’t have a trigger or an aftermarket stereo amp, I would need a 30 amp fuse box to hook directly onto my battery, and then run the accessory light power into that fuse box? Sorry man. I’m obviously not an electrician;) I was going to do the fuse tap this weekend but after watching your video I’m second-guessing that. So I’m just trying to understand.

  • @theunknowntinman
    @theunknowntinman 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    So instead of the 30 amp fuse block at the battery, why would you just put an inline 10-20 amp fuse on the wire and connect it directly to battery?

    • @WaterFowler41
      @WaterFowler41  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I could have but it was more convenient to use that existing block.

    • @theunknowntinman

      @@WaterFowler41 Ok, I had bought similar lights and was looking for ways to hook them up. I was going to tap into fuse block but after hearing what you said, no way. So I will use a relay and an inline fuse at battery. Thanks for the advise.

  • @adamkoby417
    @adamkoby417 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Can u provide a diagram of some sort? Maybe if you could help me figure out which cables on the relay to use?

    • @WaterFowler41
      @WaterFowler41  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure, so every relay has numbered slots on them which means each terminal of the relay does something different.
      Using my DRL circuit as the example for how to plug in the relay here is the wire and the corresponding terminal on the relay to make your new ACCESSORY light run like a DRL.
      Terminal 30 - This is your fused battery feed. This goes from the (+) terminal on the battery, through a fuse, into the relay.
      Terminal 85 - Relay ground, I prefer to run this direct to the battery ground but you can tie it to bare metal as well.
      Terminal 86 - This is the trigger lead, the signal telling the relay when to close. In my video I used the marker lights to tell my relay to close and power my DRL light bar circuit.
      Terminal 87 - Is the OUTOUT of the relay and should go to your new lights or the accessory you are trying to turn on.
      Hope this helps!
