  • More Modelling for Beginners, the second basic modelling series and this time we are building an Airfix 1/48 P-51 Mustang with some slight aftermarket upgrades.
Aimed at less experienced modellers looking to expand their skillset with lots of detail through all the stages of build and paint. In this one, I finished the build and masked up ready to begin painting.

Soothing to watch and listen to. Helps to build up the mojo for the next build. Thanks.

I am really enjoying this series. Although I have many years modelling, I've always learned new ideas and new tools to make life easier from your YT channel. The Vallejo Putty with water, the talc/Superglue mix scrapping with a knife are new tricks that I've learned thanks to you Jen. Looking forward for many more videos like this. Thanks and Greetings from Guatemala.

I'm going to take a shot at using bare metal foil for canopy masking. Jen makes it look so easy, so what could possibly go wrong? 😁

This series is so awesome, thank you so much. I’m new to modelling built 2 kits so far both Airfix starter kits, Mary Rose and the good old Spitfire. You have inspired and motivated me I’m very grateful for your knowledge and videos.

Good stuff as always. The foil method for masking canopies is brilliant.

Another amazing video, Jen. Your canopy masking technique is fantastic. I can't wait to try it. Great job on filling all the gaps as well. Thanks so much for making this series of build videos!

It's always good to wake up to a new installment of this series and a treat to watch it over brunch. I was glad you answered my pending question about the wheel wells (ie. when and how you intended painting them). With Airfix actually modelling the aft wells correctly back to the forward side of the wing mainspar (at least when compared to the Tamiya and ICM offerings in the same scale) I don't think I would trust myself to get acceptable paint flow into that area and will probably pre-paint it prior to assembling the wings - I wouldn't want to look in there and see grey plastic.

In the absence of those beading tools you can use a hypodermic needle, snipped and filed.

Hi Jen. Models for sale have those beading tools for £12.99 against description “Trumpeter - 08020 HG Micro Rivet Punch Set (23pcs, 0.25mm-1.35mm) MAY BE SLIGHTLY RUSTY”. I bought a set last year. I think they would be described as new/old stock but still very useful.

Excellent series of videos and very illuminating, but i would like to ask Jenn if you can prepare a video of building a model straight from the box because some modellers have not at least all the instrument required for modelling.Your videos are calming me from the difficulties of every day life and i really enjoyed them.Thank you very much Jenn about your excellent videos.

I have other builds on here that are, not least the Mosquito series actually. And there will be more in the future, fear not. I'm glad you're finding a little calm with your modelling

Jen, do you need to use a new scaple blade when you cut the bare metal foil? Thanks much.

Not really, I sometimes find a brand new one is a bit too grabby. It does need to have a decent point on it still though..
