UNBELIEVABLE, THE KING TOOK AN ADVANCE ON HIS UPLOAD AND TOOK 6 WEEKS LESS TIME THAN HIS LAST XCOM2 CHALLENGE RUN UPLOAD. HOOOONEY WAKE UP, HE'S BAAAAAAAAAAACK
To answer your early question: yes, you can suppress with a shotgun. It's a little weird since your guy shoots and re-cocks over and over again, but it works just fine (and could be better than taking a low chance shot).
21:00 It's not a miracle, it's just an example of XCOM's dynamic game difficulty balancing, also known as the rubber band effect, which is a consistent feature of the game
17:30 - I heard somewhere that the XCOM 2 accuracy routine is a bit weird and doesn't do what you might expect it to. Supposedly, crit is independent of hit, instead of being a percentage of hit. For example, if you have a 60% hit and a 50% crit, you might expect that the way this would break down is 30% crit, 30% normal hit, 40% miss, and this is what most other games do, including XCOM 1. But in XCOM 2, crit being independent of hit means that the actual outcomes are 50% crit, 10% hit, 40% miss. Presumably if the unit has a higher critical chance than hit, then if they do land the hit, it will be a 100% crit. This makes flashbangs pretty risky, because it just means that if they do hit you, they're almost certainly going to crit you.
This is exactly right. Some mod(I don’t remember exactly what it is) shows a bar with the 4 possible outcomes of the shot. The visual aid helps a lot when determining the actual chances.
I will never get tired of the close range drop in. I see it coming every time but still get a laugh. Thanks drifter. And happy holidays drifter viewers.
I absolutely love your videos, drifter! They got me back into xcom and got me to even try wotc! Love your videos and hope to one day find myself in your character pool!
If you want to know more about the abilities, like at 21:40, click on the yellow questionmark next to it. It will list stuff like the numbers, weapon compatibility, how it works with other abilities (like some not working with run and gun) and more. In most cases it will answer your questions.
19:16 Disorientation does only last 1 turn. When the stun lancer hit again, it re-applied disorient, resetting the timer. The exact same effect as 2 consecutive flashbangs.
20:14 W H A T ! How have I never known this, I've always played under the assumption they are affected by the same aim bonuses and debuffs as the player... 400 hours of xcom 2 and still learning Jesus.
Technically speaking, they do get the same aim bonuses/penalties, but the range table for their weapons is the same +0 to hit for all ranges. So, yeah, point blank for them is the same chance as just barely in range.
59:30 this doesn’t help anyone that wants to play with the class pack Drifter is using but in the current version of long war of the chosen (I’m playing a Ted Jam run right now) that rocket no longer leaves a smoke cloud at its destination. It is indeed a kind of crap ability in the class pack. And one I usually mod out of of the ini with a replacement. 1:00:00 never mind. His rant got there. I shouldn’t have paused and posted.
Merry (early) Christmas Drifter! And have a happy New Year! PEAK! ABSOLUTE CINEMA! 🙌 LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO LOVE THIS VIDEO SINCE I BEGAN TO WATCH. THERE ARE 86 BILLION NEURONS STORED WITH IN MY BIOLOGICAL BRAIN. IF THE WORD PEAK WAS ENGRAVED ON EACH NANOANGSTROM OF THOSE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF NEURONS IT WOULD NOT EQUAL ONE ONE-BILLIONTH OF THE LOVE I FEEL FOR THIS VIDEO AT THIS MICRO-INSTANT! FOR YOU. PEAK! PEAK!
Looking at the end screen, I can see your problem: Santa got sent to the shadow realm because you ended the campaign after Christmas! He lost all his power before you hit the final mission! Jokes aside, it sucks that this run went so wrong for you. I wouldn't mind at all if you went and did something just for fun as a change of pace. Maybe even a casual run in a different game of the same genre.
Scatter is reduced by the aim stat, and is significantly increased when you move first. So anything that increases aim and firing your rocket as the first action makes it a lot more manageable. In lw2 this is more manageable because there are a lot more ways to get little aim bonuses (my technicals usually get the pistol ability that removes mobility penalties and then get a laser pistol). Also stocks on the weapons so they can take the steady weapon action for more aim
1:42:00 I’ve only ever had to play a base defense mission once, all you have to do is not go near it and scan areas away from it. At least that’s what I think worked, I was worried about it being harder than I could handle the first time it showed up and was sweating until it disappeared.
Honestly, couldn't think of a better thing for you to cover for good old Santa In all seriousness. This is a very very good class in LW, easily one that I'd consider the best, with a catch, don't expect loot with them. Hope you like heavy weapons, because that's what you get. This is shockingly simple for LW2, and it is that simple for once
I believe the concussion rocket is meant to be used to give your shinobi cover while doing his reaper chains, especially with coup de gras. I've never used it that way though, but it does give smoke on impact in Long War 2.
fuck yyeeaaah drifteeer cheers brother looking forward to seeing double roasted xenos, I'll bring some potatoes as a side dish it's probably canon that the reapers have several recipes for ayylmao meat lol
So, according to the santa clause, that andromedon, which did not die, is now santa. So next year it'll be an andromedons only run, which is possible with the allies unknown mod
These videos have bin weary interesting. Recently I have bin playing WOTC with a mod called Cymeric Classes and is interesting to see where some of its mechanics come from (it feels like a hybridization of a bunch of different versions of the classes)
I was watching one of your older streams a little while ago and noticed that burning doesn't prevent an Avatar from teleporting anyway. I also seriously don't understand the implementation of this concussion rocket. You don't want to fire it at your enemies because it gives them defensive smoke, but you also don't want to fire it at your own soldiers because it'll damage and disorient them. Why would you EVER combine those effects in a single ability like this? What was the mod creator even thinking?
HOO BOY, I've watched vods of the streams of this class, and it don't look pretty, scatter is such a cancerous mechanic, I have 0 idea who tf decided it should be in the game.
As a chronic LW player, I can say with certainty that the mechanic is balanced. Rockets have larger radius and do more damage than grenades, so something needs to counterbalance them. It gets even more treacherous when Mod Jam is introduced. (That said, this is not the case in vanilla. So seeing this mechanic only in vanilla makes it seem worse. Cause it’s outside its intended environment).

XCOM is no longer a window company for this run, they're a demolition company
Everyday we get closer to long war 2, I can almost taste it.
Have a lovely Christmas Drifter, it's coming up quick.
21:00 It's not a miracle, it's just an example of XCOM's dynamic game difficulty balancing, also known as the rubber band effect, which is a consistent feature of the game
I would like more in depth explanation
Recently found your XCOM videos (literally 2 days ago), and now you uploaded a new video! The binge watching continues....
Welcome to the challenge man content
I was waiting for this one. Technical is such a weird class compared to the others, there are bound to be some interesting moments

This upload has been up for two whole hours and I wasn't informed!!? Inconceivable!
Merry Christmas Drifter!
"Can I beat XCOM 2 WOTC using only LW2 Technicals?" Technically, yes.
Keep up the good work man! I wish you a merry christmas and a happy new year!
Gotta love the hit and crit roll being the same, so a disoriented enemy will basically either miss or crit because of low hit chance.
1:28:00 It's not an actual "Elevator" but a teleport to a different location.
Yeah like the dungeon is underground, and the sarchophagus is underwater ?
I feel it's the same area as the end mission
You telling me my man is playing.... XCOM 2: Santa's explosive rampage? SIGN ME UP!
I will never get tired of the close range drop in. I see it coming every time but still get a laugh. Thanks drifter. And happy holidays drifter viewers.
21:05 Christmas miracle
38:46 loss of the miracle.
2024, the year Santa handed out rocket launchers and flamethrowers for christmas! Chestnuts roasting on an open fire of ADVENT corpses...
ADVENT roasting on an open fiiire... 🎵

The phosphorus ability in proper LWOTC pretty much affects all enemies in the game, not even the fortress ability can nullify the damage.

Classic comment before watching
Great to have you back so soon, chief (:
Glad your game didn't break from destroying that gas station. I lost a legendary ironman to the rubble bricking my save!
YEEEEEEES ANOTHER XCOM 2 VIDEO FROM DRIFTER :D
Mooom, why my christmas present is ticking? Is it a clock?
hacking the advent algorithm

Merry (early) Christmas Drifter! And have a happy New Year!

Thank you for the christmas gift of Volume #2 of the charcoal pool!
I've been itching to have Leeson on my team and see him miss 90% shots :)
we got the present from the lord
Thanks Christ I was starving for content. You’re doing the divines work.
think disoriented only lasts one turn but you got hit by the stun lancer again
Merry Chrysalidmas everyone!

What a rollercoaster of challenges! We will wish all our favorites unit losses well XD
Wait a minute, a new upload this fast ? This is so great
Yoooo, I finally caught you hella early! Fuck yes! I've always loved your stuff man. Makes me wish I could figure out how to do the mods on my pc
That scatter mechanic sounds like something that should be removed if you just hunkered or something.

The smoke got removed a while ago in LWOTC. Now it’s just a rocket with a good chance to stun or disorient, which is honestly not bad at all.
This is the perfect christmas present!
Santa really was the hero that we didn't deserve.
Finally he’s back 🙏🏾😊
fuck yyeeaaah drifteeer
cheers brother
looking forward to seeing double roasted xenos, I'll bring some potatoes as a side dish
it's probably canon that the reapers have several recipes for ayylmao meat lol
rockets are 2-4 dmg ? in lwotc they are 2-7 for the basic gauntlets
weird
concussion rocket doesnt leave smoke in lwotc lol
this is a questionable class port mod
since we aren't gonna see you until 2025
season's screamings and happy new year drifter!
@@Alelip1000apparently they used to have smoke but got removed in long war a while ago

Calling the samwah chosen yasuke is savage.

HES ALIVE
Yo if u run out of challenge classes or want to take a break u can make a challenge with the more health option in the advanced options.
New Drifter upload as im playing Chimera Squad on Impossible 😌
1:49:04 how can Andromedon shell take fire damage?
...Does this mean Leeson will have to wear the red suit in the next run?
You know, for the kids.
you know, if that animation lock glitch could be replicated, it could be really handy for speedruns
Hi there drifter i dont know if something happened to the dc beacuase im not in it anymore... did i mess up? (If i did sorry) or is the dc gone
YESSS MERRY THIS DAY
I bought x com 2 on the switch after watching how much fun you have through multiple videos. Any idea how different the PC is vs the Nintendo Switch?
Love to see my character performing bs all the way to his death
Last time I was this early I became a father.
56:15 You're reminding me why I don't play this game.
Coffee the legend 🎉
Let's go, again))
Sooooo....Phoenix Point run next? :3
the sarcophagus is obviously a playstation 6
No Toyota pick ups with 50. cals bolted to the bed… disliked ;) cheers for the video love getting my Xcom 2 fix!
i made it!
If it was me I'd have tried removing scatter from the rockets. That sounds painful why would anyone want it to be that way?
I was watching one of your older streams a little while ago and noticed that burning doesn't prevent an Avatar from teleporting anyway.

Before watching... I sense this is going to be painful.
And the laughs start early with Santa getting paralyzed after his fall. And yet he is still able to kill his enemies through sheer force of will.
0/10 No rocket jumping with technicals
The Return of the King
Some rough luck on this one like holy, game just did not like you this time around
