    I enjoy your videos but I think sometimes while technically being correct you're still getting wrong. Case in point, saying that the CIA didn't flood the ghettos with heroin. Technically that's true, they never involved themselves with domestic operations (with some exceptions) The intentional flooding of the ghettos with cheap heroin was ...in fact intentional. One of the Nixon White House staff made a famous quote about it... and you have to remember that at that time leftwing and black nationalist militancy was at its highest. Members of Nixon's staff suggested manipulating people's priorities by means of promoting drug addiction. People like Donald Segretti, who had his hands in a number of dirty black ops like coordinating the SAO (Secret Army Organisation) into conducting violent and potentially deadly attacks against Southern California's anti war movement.
    Anyways he was connected to various figures in the East Coast mob who would conduct this operation.
    This was all during the Vietnam War, and in order for the US military to get the Meo tribesmen to align with the US intrests and fight against the Vietcong, the CIA had to buy their heroin crops, which were then taken to a facility (that was funded by the US Congress under the auspices of being a Pepsi Cola refinery but was actually a heroin refinery operated by South Vietnam military figures), then it was flown out by Air America to the US to be distributed by the mob.
    So in a sense, the CIA was mostly an important link in the chain. In the same sense obliquely responsible as they were during the CIA/Manuel Noriega drug transport partnership until Washington decided that Noriega was no longer controllable and had to be taken out. And, don't forget when Eugene Hasenfuss, a CIA contracted pilot got shot down and busted with a lot of drugs and guns during the CIA Iran/Contra operations.
    Again, you're correct that they didn't deal drugs domestically themselves they were however important players in the game both in procurement and dealing the drugs in other countries.

    One thing that most people do not understand is that 80% or more of the information gathered is from the public domain. EG newspapers, news feeds, news agencies, and such like. The clever bit is figuring out which information is important or useful.

  • @mrwarr
    @mrwarr 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The CIA almost certainly did not introduce crack to the black community. Mini essay to follow:
    Freebased cocaine was a well know, but extremely expensive way to process cocaine into a more potent form. It was very popular amongst celebrities in the 70s. But, at upwards of $2000 per hit for a 10 minute high, users had long been searching for a cheaper alternative. Crack provided a similar high to free based cocaine for about 1/200th the cost. Beyond that, crack was half the cost of pure cocaine and provided a far more intense, although fleeting, high. This revelation became the crack epidemic.
    Meanwhile, the CIA was involved in the Contra War in Central America. To grossly oversimplify things, the Contras needed money to fund their war and the met this need in part from the sale of cocaine. Some of that cocaine was sold to black markets in the US and some ended up in predominantly black communities, fueling the aforementioned epidemic.
    It’s this fact that causes people to erroneously blame the CIA for introducing crack to black communities. The CIA was complicit with the Contra’s elicit sale of narcotics to the USA according to congressional reports from 1989 and 1998 report, but black communities were not targeted.
    TL;DR The crack epidemic and the CIA’s complicity with the Contras selling cocaine to the US coincided coincidently.

    I think “need to know” is probably a cover for a lot of horrific abuses and crimes against humanity.

    • @wscottwatson
      @wscottwatson 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can be used for that, certainly. It is also how every military in the world acts. The "need to know" is in the very early training in UK, from soliers to cadet forces.
      "If you don't have a need to know X, why should you know it?"

    • @PigRipperLAW
      @PigRipperLAW 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Scott Watson There are situations that this may be necessary but practically speaking, more information is always better. Take the soldier example, the military organization benefits from “need to know” practices but individual military personnel are exploited by the same practice: “if I’d have known X I would have done differently”.
      So it depends.

    Some people to CIA: Well you can't hold them forever so just let them go.
    CIA to some people: That sounds like a really bad idea but OK.
    SOCOM to CIA: Hey, we just killed some really bad people that we gave you a while back, what's up?
    CIA to SOCOM: Some people said we couldn't interrogate them and couldn't keep them so we had to let them go.
    SOCOM to CIA: So what do we do with really bad people when we catch them?
    CIA to SOCOM: No prisoners!

    • @chariotdrvr14
      @chariotdrvr14 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Stephen Jenkins You forget their history .....like how they were created and what they were used for from WWII on up to the 1970's (and what tethered them in) The Dulles brothers who ran the OSS used captured nazis to build the idea and basis for the CIA as well as special forces units. The Cold War saw Congress giving them carte blanche including not only a large secret budget but ok'ing various other ways that they could fund their own operations. In those times they were completely unaccountable to even Congress (even though they were doing Congress' bidding). They DID indeed have that much power. Where it all changed was Watergate...that, and after the fall of Allende in Chile ...the assassination of Orlando Letelier (the Chilean ambassador) in Washington DC... after Watergate, Congress had decided that it had had enough of the CIA's unaccountability and endless conspiracy nonsense. That you can indulge your own naivete on this subject is no less thanks to Nixon (and J Edgar Hoover) ruining it for all would-be wannabe gods.
      Btw, ....I spent the mid to late 1970's living in DC being an errand boy for investigators collecting documents for our writers from various government agencies as well as our contacts within the intelligence community. So, you'll pardon me if I come off as assuming to know something about all this. I'd probably still be neck deep in it but for a change of location and the advent of punk rock.... much more fun times from then on.

    Thank you Agent Whistler, this has been very informative and has dispelled all the misconceptions I had about the agency. I now think it's a lawful and well meant organization. 😃
    (Oh hi CIA-san, please don't mind that folder in my PC, I assure you those drawings of 2B are for research purposes only.
    ...W-what am I researching? Uh, it's you know, robotics and stuff. I think one day I can make a yorha sexbot... I mean make robotic assistants to help the elderly and stuff and make the world a better place! Yep.)

    Even though the CIA takes orders, they are often providing the information and supporting or propping up various regimes that influence policy and decision that result in them receiving orders.

      Yeah, I doubt it, but I don't know for sure. Necessity is the mother of invention, right? What I do know is that the Govt. never said that there was a "crack epidemic" unlike when mostly white people got hooked on oxycodone and they declared an "opioid epidemic." Instead, they passed laws requiring mandatory minimums for simple possession of crack that were much harsher than sentences for possession of powder cocaine. It seems rather racist to me on its face.

    I was going to make a rebuttal comment - but many have already been made, far better put and more succinctly than I ever could normally. Ian Morris is one of them, from one week ago. The alphabet agencies are among those who perpetrate the worst offenses against any set of common moral decency, ethics or just basic human rights in general, no matter how ya slice it! Also notoriously in contrast to this "top 10", there is ample proof for at least most of these "myths" being very true. Certain things, like needing to know a foreign language? Yeah sure, I don't know that one for sure. But many of them have been proven unequivocally. Same goes for all govts and their black ops agencies.
