    Hi there! I came across this video late last night...and I was instantly fascinated! I jumped out of bed this morning and looked around for a couple of empty picture frames and took out the glass and I was off! WOW! It is truly fascinating how those little blobs of paint turn into perfect circles! I have had a blast this morning, printing these in all different colors! Thank you so much!

    Thank you for sharing this technique. I can see many applications. White paint on black paper, snowflakes! Then cutting the paper into tags for presents. Lots of green dots and a forest print. Fall shades for an autumn landscape scene. I'm sure there are more. I love how ideas just flow sometimes. You are one I go to when inspiration wanes. Have a blessed week.

    I know Shannon Greene from her TH-camS and have always had fun with her. When I saw you knew her too, I thought I would learn a thing or two. I watch a lot of TH-camS since my leg is in a cast, but even before I am a TH-cam junkie. Can't wait to see all you do. I think your Mixed Media Morsels looks like something I would enjoy. I started out looking for comparisons between Ken Oliver's Color Burst and Brusho's. Who knew that would bring me to Owings Art, then you, and back to Shannon. Looking forward to a lot of painting!!!

    I love those colors! They look like eggs, or a nested doll shape in the first pull. I have an idea for separating the glass. I have seen glass chip out, if you put a little masking tape on the corners it will protect the edge and maybe help getting a tool between to break the seal when separating. Mono printing is definitely addicting. AND I found a stash of mailing labels I had and will be gel printing them soon! Love your ideas.

      Karen Sallows - if you're ever looking for color scheme ideas there are plenty of color picker apps available these days that can show you a myriad of varying complimentary colors based on the angles between them on the color wheel and a host of other functions... I have a great one on my mac but I'm away from home atm... if you have trouble finding one do let me know, it really helped me when I was starting out to be able to choose colors that I knew would work and over time not only learned why but figured out new schemes of my own.

    What a perfect time to teach us circles. They look like they can be made into Christmas Ornaments. Can't wait to make these. My mind is just going crazy. Oh dear How about using White Paint and making a Snowman.........need to play Thanks Cat ~janet :)

    Love it! Ive been trying to come up with a cheap way to make what would look lit pine tree branches for these cute little Christmas trees I make and gift. Now I know what Im going to do! I have some of those neat cones that thread comes on so Ill get the 12x12 glass like you have and then make large circles. then Ill cut them out and cut up the middles and "drape" them over the cones!! I have some eyelash ribbon that I can put on as well so itll really look like pine tree branches!! This is so great! I have to get started so I can send some to Australia to the rellys over there!! Thank you sooooo much!

    That's cool. I was waiting for you to place paper on the first dendric and then place the top glass on top of that paper thus making a double sided dendric on one sheet of paper.

    • @CatHand
      @CatHand  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, Carla. The technique doesn't work if you put the paper between the glass panes. It would press too hard on the paint, making the dendritic print flatten out. It's best to lay the paper on the paint and VERY lightly touch it to the paint, so as not to disturb the delicate pattern. Thanks so much for watching! :)

  • @kayvallance9560
    @kayvallance9560 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    these are neat! i bet you could offset your glass panes to make it easier to separate. with a 12x12, you would have about 4 inches if you still want use letter-sized paper.

    No WAY! Oh my gosh you're a genius! It never occurred to me to try shapes. They look like Christmas ornaments :) This makes me want to print again...I need to get some good glass like you got.

    • @CatHand
      @CatHand  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Way, girl! Lol! I was surprised when I first tried it out and I just love the outcome! Yep, I thought of ornaments, too. My "good" glass chipped on one corner, too. 😕 I think I will try putting a little masking tape on the corners and see if that helps.

    • @ShannonGreen
      @ShannonGreen 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use duct tape around the edges of my glass sheet that lives with my gelli plate. It didn't occur to me to edge my printing glass too but the might work. I put the duct tape so half of it is off the edge of the glass so the might make it easier to pull them apart...sort of like tabs.

    • @CatHand
      @CatHand  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Shannon Green +Shannon Green I guess it can't go on the surface of the glass that the paint goes on, otherwise wouldn't it interfere with the print? Seems like you wouldn't be able to push all the air out if the tape was keeping the glass pieces slightly apart...?

    • @ShannonGreen
      @ShannonGreen 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ohhhh, I didn't think about that, you're probably right.

    Thanks for your great videos,love this one. I use a glass surface protector/chopping board(a smooth surface one) to do my mono prints,after having watched your videos. I'm going to try this technique. Unfortunately my boards are opaque so it will be rather random. It looks such fun!

    You don’t need a tool to separate the panes of glass. Just leave them askew and it’s very easy to lift them apart.

      It’s REALLY a lot of fun, Robin - I hope you DO try it! I used some dendritic prints I made on deli paper as coral in an underwater scene I did on an index card. You can see it here: th-cam.com/video/n0s9NbFzg5c/w-d-xo.html
      I also made another index card (#47) using them, which you can see here: th-cam.com/video/bQvblEEFCbM/w-d-xo.html

    Shannon is proud of your experimentation with her basic tutorial. I especially like the ones with bright colors on top of each other. The overall spots at the end would look good on black paper, too. The multi-colored heart and circle you did before recording are amazing. What are you planning to do with these prints?

    • @CatHand

      I thought about black paper, too. I think I'll try some neon colors on black sometime. 😊 Not sure what I'll do with them yet, but I will think of something... Thanks for watching!
