Yes to all seven! Loud noises, and also repetitive noises, like a ticking clock when I’m trying to sleep. I can’t even wear earplugs if it’s too noisy to sleep because I then hear my heartbeat. Fake people and reality TV, yes. It’s probably why I dislike career politicians and have no desire to meet any of the big star celebrities. Being told what to do: that’s the first time I’ve ever heard someone repeat my exact thoughts on this! It’s quite validating to know I’m not the only one. I was going to mow the lawn, then someone tells me to do it, so now I don’t want to do it any longer. Crowds, yes, especially since they are usually noisy like a concert or sports game. Even busy restaurants and bars I tend to shut down, eat or drink fast, and hope to leave as soon as possible. A couple other things not listed: 1) The majority of commercials are so annoying, trying to “tell me”, usually in a non-informative way, to buy something that I didn’t even want. For instance, have you seen car commercials lately that tell you nothing about the car, only that it was on a mountain top for this scene? /rolls eyes 2) bad/dangerous drivers on the roads.
Ahhh yes! Dangerous road-ragey drivers.. I can't stand them haha Especially ones that like to tail gate! Just... no! I'm glad I'm not alone in the being told what to do part. It's like our stubborness gets stirred up. I only want to do things when it's my own idea, not someone elses haha.
Definitely agree with all 7! I feel the same way about reality TV, (I LOVE historical restoration channels on TH-cam) and have even given up on watching the news. It's so polarizing and divisive. I try to listen to people on social media and news outlets that offer the most balanced information, where they're not using language to manipulate how people think and feel about something. I really hate it when I have to pick through something to find the truth. Fake people definitely suck. And bossy people who bark out orders at others. They are so disconnected from everything that matters, and all that's left is their fragile ego and their overbearing sense of entitlement. Ugh! I recently learned that 1 in 6 people are estimated to have narcissistic personality disorder. These people are the worst of the worst, and being the sensitive, empathic, introverts that we INFJs are, these horrible humans are seriously hard to ignore. If you've ever felt like you're outnumbered by all the negative nonsense, this statistic might explain why. Thankfully we have this cozy digital space at Paper Crane Of Hope to hang out where we can chat with fellow INFJs and know we are not alone. Thank you for making time for us today, Sam!! Sending you a big warm hug! 🥰💌💖🫂💖
Yessss, same! Especially when I'm trying to get a point across, ugh! I need thinking processing time in between speaking. Sorry about the YT commercials. 😂 I'm not too bothered by them, i tend to let them play in the background because I know it helps the you tube creator. Each time an ad plays on my videos I get to earn a few cents. 😅
this is so accurate! I truly don't understand the realty show's appeal, I dislike anything patronizing, the room cleaning example was my feeling during all my childhood, hahaha I'm amazed all the 7 things truly speak to my soul!!
oh yes, I have changed to only shopping at the small grocery store. I even told my mom I can't do large stores or multiple stores in a day. I am actually writing on substack about managing people and after school programs. I got inspired to write about managing things without a black and white thinking. I know it is hard for others especially my bosses.
Oh that's so cool that you're writing a substack about it. Do you run after school programs? You're amazing! I'd find that type of job really hard. I've discovered that my local supermarket now does "quiet hours" during the week. Have your stores got them too?
@PaperCraneOfHope I did after school for 15 years, now I am medically retired. I am writing down all the lies, I mean stories, I told kids. I need to do more queries to get the childrens books published. I also teach meditation. I think some stores here in the US have quiet times,
On black and white thinking, my SO loves giving statements like this book is the best ever . Same about series, movies, songs, foods, drinks. And he's saying it based on the moment, not comparing anything to anything. It bugs me even after about 12 years.
Haha I'm sorry, i laughed when I read your comment. 😂 Sometimes I make big blatant statements too, "Best book ever!!" I guess it's a good thing he is passionate about all the things he loves. 🙃 I feel you though. x
Yes to all of the above! Some worse than others. Small talk I can do because that’s what I do for my whole life, it’s ok. But a lot of the others yeah. I’m with you about noise and crowds much better when I was younger. I think INFJs need our own space somewhere in the world. We can probably bring other intuitives with us too.
As an INTJ I recognizing myself in most of these except I'm not as bothered by the last point. I have more of the sense of "it do be like that", I'm not actually responsible for them so I just avoid engaging with them mainly only interested in the facts that led up to that opinion. I see them as the role they play in society counter-balanced by the people who sit firmly on the other side of the fence. I still live with my parents cause that's the most efficient way for me right now. So point 4 is very relevant for me. The most efficient way in the moment is to do as they say but then that encourages them to keep doing that and I was already planning on doing it when I had the energy to do so.
Welcome INTJ to my channel! 🥰 (Actually, I think we have "met" before? Unless that was another INTJ? 😅) I'm loving your approach to life on "black and white thinking people". I am feeling you on your situation with your parents! Do you think it'll be feasible for you to move soon? All the best! x
@PaperCraneOfHope It's fine. The housing market in my city is kinda insane with decade-long waiting lists, and moving elsewhere isn't that much of an option. I feel like I just gotta focus on my own skill sets, and things will get better. I'm naturally stubborn, so going for the long game while working on myself is just fine for me.
I wondered if INFJs were autistic, too. I hate weird noises. My friend has a very strange sound in her house when her heater or a/c kicks on. No one else seems to notice but me. 😬😬😬 I also relate to the other qualities, as well.
I'm ok with loud noise, as long as I'm in control of it, like the music or movies I love, otherwise, SHUT UP! lol! ;) Everything on your list is me, to perfection 😁 The last one was spot on. I spend a good while wandering in the grey before I come to a secure opinion on many subjects, and I'm always ready to accept a differing-but-logical viewpoint ;) We change over time, so surely some of our opinions should too, with the added wisdom of life experience to draw from? ;)
Oh yes, so true! I didn't even think to add that in. I used to LOVE going to see live bands, and spent most of my weekends at gigs (this is when I was young, single and childless hahaha)... I could handle that! Because I was listening to music I loved, and I was with my other introverted friends where we could spend time together... Listening to music but not necessarily needing to talk. lol
I tried to comment earlier but my post was deleted and I'm not sure why. I agree with most of these but some don't bother me as much. I am Ok dealing with small talk as that helps others feel comfortable. When it comes to black and white opinions I have learned to "take it with a grain of salt" as others will have their opinions and it's Ok to have differing opinions as long we respect one another.
Ohhh noo! I wonder why YT did that… Sometimes it doesn’t like certain words and will automatically delete it. Yes I’m ok with small talk these days, as I understand the necessity of it! Plus it’s a great way to keep boundaries when you’re meeting someone new. So true about taking everything with a grain of salt. In fact that’s in my description disclaimer. 😂
As far as black and white thinking. Yes things are Grey. Not everyone lives or tries to live for the God of the Bible. But I always ask myself is what this person saying true.....if detect intentional dishonesty then I am quickly done with that individual

Same here. Some noises are just really annoying 😤. What I can’t tolerate most are TikTok viral music and stupid gossip chats.
