I'm from Bombay and I know a lot of Punjabi words and can even say sentences from Punjabi though I'm a Maharashtran. Lastly we love all our languages. We promote Bengali too.

Actually all Sufi saints, including my ancestors, were from Central Asia. None of them were Punjabi. They were the ones who introduced Urdu by mixing Farsi words with local languages. Their descendants speak very good Urdu. Urdu did not start in UP. The spoken Urdu started in Delhi and written Urdu started in Deccan.
