  • Jim writes a series of beautiful poems to Elaine but shies away from revealing himself because he fears she will not like him as a poet.

Jim was the king of laughter on that show. All of them were funny, but only Jim made my stomach hurt from laughing.

It was the writers who made the charectors, it was the charectors who made the writting shine. The writting, actors and perfect pacing made Taxi a perfect sitcom .

This episode honestly made me fall head over heels in love with Jim. It was the first one in which we got a glimpse of the huge, sweet heart that made up for his slower brain. If I was Elaine, I would have fallen into his arms when I found out he wrote me those poems!

Nicely put Strella. My favourite line from Jim is also my favourite line of all time (from a U.S comedy). It is "I suppose I could use that as a table". My favourite line from an English comedy is from the film 'Withnail and I', its the line "You have to help us... we have gone on holiday by mistake", a line so absurd it could even be from Lauren & Hardy.

That brain was just sweetly addled, but far from slow. And yes, a great, sweet heart.

Christopher Lloyd and Danny Devito were the main reason I loved the show. The characters they played were perfect.

This clip perfectly illustrates why Taxi was such a great show. Though it's easy to be totally encapsulated by the over the top nature of Christopher Lloyd's character, this scene wouldn't be as funny, without Judd Hirsch's wonderful acting rounding it off. Alex's expressions of irritation and surprise at Jim's bizarreness is as pivotal to the comedy in this scene as Jim himself. Taxi is sitcom comedy at it's finest!

Judd Hersh in "Ordinary People" played a therapist and his role in Taxi mirrored that role! Especially with Jim.
