I use to work at family dollar warehouse before I caught a felony charge. Have orientation for USxpress Nov 14th on the family dollar account lol. I miss the physical work, I’ve been working front desk at planet fitness for 5 years. It’s time to go!!! All I can say is God is good for helping me through to get my CDLS because it’s plenty opportunities out there waiting for me.
Amen brother, that Felony was just a minor setback and you’ve bounced back from it. Keep God first and everything else will follow. If you doing Company Driver, it will be a great experience for you.
I use to drive for US XPRESS and did the family dollar account. I sure do not miss doing it. The way family dollar load their trailers is unsafe, and the store is so tight it makes it hard to drive a 70 ft truck around these stores
Hey did you come across any halloween stuff yet. Usually right around this time they Like giving giving certain holidays a few months advance.. I used to work for family dollar they like giving things at oddball times.
There are labels on each package with a store number and different color. Just remember the store number. Also the different stores are separated by plastic (most of the time).
Stop signs where not a fool proof way, to check your stores. When I did this, sometimes those “good” folks in the warehouse, didn’t put stop signs on anything, they’d just toss a roll of stop signs in your trailer, and leave it at that.
I worked for a food service company, my trailers never looked that messy. There must be a better system to do this. The company should look into lift gates so you can roll pallets off and go. I also think I would prefer to haul B-trains, the smaller trailers fit better in the tight spots than the 53 footers. And what’s with bringing back all the cardboard ? I’m not sure what they pay for this type of work but from what I’ve seen it most likely isn’t enough.
B-Trains wouldn’t work because you would have to disconnect to back up to the store everytime you deliver. There are lift gates for when pallets are to be off loaded. However, each store only get up to 4 pallets if any. Bringing the cardboard back is so they can recycle it instead of putting it into the landfills. If you are company, the pay isn’t worth anything. Lease operator isn’t much better. However, if you are there because they need help (outside carrier that’s not on a contract), you could make up to 2k a day 7 days a week.
I deliver for family dollar and yes the loaders don't care how they load the trailers. We did Dollar Tree before and if those guys loaded a trailer the way family dollar does they get fired. Yes its a very tough job and I can say doing the family dollar account will either make you very good at backing or you will quit.
That better pay a least $1,500 a week after tax or I would tell them hell No! I can't imagine having to work with a bunch of lazy high-school drop out employees every day! Wow
I was leasing at that time, so I had to take out my own taxes. However, that’s why I left, to me $1500 after taxes wasn’t enough for the amount of work you had to do. I eventually went to USA truck and that account came back up temporarily. They were paying $2k a day (minus USA’s %). So I went back and grossed $14k a week then. But I’m into flatbed now the bread and butter (Specialized)
Does no one notice the good dam garbage laying there....or is that normal in the US......jeez....that is disgusting, no reason for that type of mess. What a disgrace. Shame, shame, shame......
I don’t have any recommendations for companies. However I recommend that you find what works for you. Like the guy stated above, he makes 1800 a week and home every night. I left US Xpress and went to USA truck, worked the same account and made 14k a week before expenses and netted 10k (working 7 days a week)
