Mino and DM can get dev strikes if they get enough citadels fast enough, even if they're not in one salvo. The bug stopped that DM from getting the dev strike achievement on the Zao. That salvo on the Zao was over 20k HP, or over 50% of the Zao's 40k HP, so it should have been a dev strike. The bug also allows you to get a dev strike when you shouldn't, like over two salvos separated by several minutes. If you deal 70% of a ship's HP and they disengage and *no one else does any damage to it* and then you do the last 30% when they're spotted later you can get a dev strike.
Black did a great job this match. Good use of the ammo types, superb read on the torps, smart plays with the Gearing, good teammates, and some mighty fine luck.

You know it’s been a special game when four players have 2k+ base xp, and a guy with 2.7k is second best by half as much again; AND the reds have guys with 1500 and 1800 bxp on a loss! Pretty incredible!

In other words, you get a devstrike if you deal a lot damage first and finish it with a later salvo, or if you do both in one salvo. Anything else is a bug. This also means, for example, if you land a massive volley of torps and the flooding destroys the ship (Or if, for example, you were shooting at the time the torpedoes hit and a fire created around the time those torpedoes hit and the fire kills the enemy), you are supposed to get a devastating strike.
The real ship had up to eight shots per minute (and barrel, according to wikipedia). That is one salvo every 7.5 seconds. Compared to in game base rate of fire of 5.5 seconds. So the real thing was not that far behind. Until you figure in the game mechanics and get it down to 3.1 seconds.

Normally he's in a crap position where he can be shot from multiple directions, he can't reach most of ships on either flank because of the DM range and he's in a match with a T10 CV and T10 CV don't give a damn if you're a Des Moines. So, normally this is a shit position to be in when driving a DM. This time the position was simply strong because he wasn't there alone. He had ample support.
Gotta love that good old 8" shell hose. I don't have the Des Moines yet, but I live in anticipation of the day I do. It may be a bit questionable outside the guns, but ultimately there's very few sins that much dakka can't forgive.

Jingles? Silliness aside always nice to chill out on evenings with a relaxed Jingles video every now and then good work as always and entertaining.
He was doing an average salvo damage of 7k in the final engagement with the Yamato combined with a 2.9 second reload he was doing 150k+ damage a minute to that Yamato. Jingles, you have never been more right when you said: “That’s a dead Yamato”
I was wondering about your wiring problem. I owned an old trailer which had aluminum wire. So I had to have it rewired with copper fir safety. Then unluckily later it got hit and destroyed by gustnado. No problem, it was insured. Hope it all goes ok.
Yeah I think they would have lost anyway but it's always annoying when your CV does that - pushing up too far behind a fairly weak flank and getting blapped. The CV was apparently Marceau's div mate so he probably just wanted to win or lose quickly.
I once got 3.7k base xp in the Belfast and boy did I have to work for it... actually, that game won me a Nelson. I'd signed up to one of WG's competitions with the highest xp in that month winning a ship.
Dayum, that IS impressive. Hats off to the Cristo Col, too, for their 2.8k exp. Two other team members had 2k as well. With the 50% bonus for winning the opposing team has 3 in the 2-2.5k, and that's before considering they'd have to be higher with the extra damage needed to win. In short, some pretty decent players on both sides, which is not something that is all that common. Another important reason for the DM being so popular is that it is about the only tier 10 cruiser that existed in WW2 and whose numbers, at least in terms of RoF, are indeed historically pretty accurate, as crazy as that sounds. Makes a nice change from paper ships, especially those potentially from the 1950s.
had a 4300 base exp match once. ONCE! they dont happen often but when they do, they are usually youtube worthy. Blackfifa congrats to you sir and Jingles congrats to you for finally seeing such and honor that is a 4000+ base exp game.
Being my first tier 10, the Des Moines has a special place in my heart. Always loved it, especially after the legendary module release. It saddens me to not see it all that much anymore in clan battles due to the power creep of the soviet heavy cruisers.

What has mee concerned is the fact that a grenade - and much worse - power in bags - is being handled by incredibly heavy machinery moving so fast that it becomes a blur (3.5 seconds rate i meant). Sounds dangerous. Lower guns to loading position - ram genade - ram powder - retract machinery and raise gun. 3.5 seconds. Stuff weighs tons. Just pray nothing slips and gets jammed and ignites from friction....or the sparks that happen when metal gets crunched at that speed. If gigantic single piece ammunition - then it is probably quite safe.

Few years ago I saw 5.1k base exp also Des Moines on ranked when he killed all enemy ships and scored almost 300k dmg.

I think that the next stage of CA build may have seen a 4-5/6 turret class like the Venezia has, that would be an absolutely 'Nightmareish' situation to find your self in. I can say had WWII started in the late 40's early 50's Naval warfare would have been so very different.
