    Sword Art Online isn't isekai but I agree it was important to isekai's popularity as many of those isekai stories were self published.

      If he did I never heard of it. But even when he first got started gigguks brand of shitting on things was largely based in comedy, and not especially harsh.
      I've always found it to be more in line with mothers basement, in which they don't shit on shows that aren't a safe bet to shit on. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but they're videos largely come down to,
      "hey see this show everyone already hates, i hate it too. But not so much that you should feel bad for liking it."
      Ive never seen him spend an hour tearing something down and burning the light novels. generally he plays it safe and is very careful to not piss large amounts of people off.

    When the heck did Sword Art Online classify as an Isekai?

    People already hated Big Three long before SAO, especially if they liked a different Big Three anime.

    Isekai is basically slice of life type anime like wataten but nobody complain to wataten or maid dragon. Haters should just ignore it like a grown man. I do have a lot of animes I don't like but I never complain to them because I'm the man.

      People should critizice problems with the medium, Isekai's parasitic takeover is one of them.

      I have alot of interesting ideas for anime stuff but currently my efforts are better spent on other peoples projects.

      "On VHS That reached a broad audience." When Akira came out most people still thought anime was demon porn for weirdos.
      Upon releasing in theatres Akira in the west akira only grossed like 1 million and the VHS release still sold way less initially than ghost in the shell.
      I own the tapes. I have one of the first Akira releases on VHS. Of course i don't think that GITS came out first and if your pay attention to the video you would realize this.

    • @The_Smuggler_
      @The_Smuggler_  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also if were going by first release than Akira also isnt it. Not even close. There were tons of anime getting released in international markets year before Akira was ever made, Star Birds, and Battle for Earth Station S/1 to name a couple.
      Most people dont care to remember these show though since they weren't any good. This leads to Akira being the be all end all of anyone with a passing interest in 80s anime.

    • @Mr-7ou6gn
      @Mr-7ou6gn 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@The_Smuggler_ I knew already that Akira wasn't first released in the west. It's too bad that Akira and Gibli are the only 80s anime people watch. It must be because of how niche it was back then compared to how popular late 90s anime became. They were right though that the main focus of anime is porn for weirdos.
