I live in a ranch community, everyone owns 10 acres or more property. Most of my neighbors have tractors. There is a kubota, Deere, Case and an 7:44 older international Harvester. I own a Yanmar. My friends Kubota is pretty good and reliable but very uncomfortable and doesn’t have any of the standard upgrades my tractor does. The Deere is the same, it was just too expensive to add-on better seats, armrests and fender mounted bucket controls. The Case and the Harvester are double the HP of my tractor, the Deere is 7 JP more and the Kubota is 25hp like my Yanmar. I don’t care what anyone says, I see it every weekend when we help each out on our properties. My little Yanmar can out maneuver and out work all the other tractors. I am a Yanmar fan for life. Best tractor made
Late to the party but I was pointed out this video. I have worked on both JD and Yanmar as a tech. Everything considered including maintenance cost I would much rather prefer the Yanmar over the Deere. If you're a handy fella and you can fix things yourself this gap gets alot closer, however parts will still be cheaper from Yanmar. And as some have pointed out there are lower horsepower models from John Deere that are cheaper however a 3 series is actually cheaper to maintain than a 2 or 1 series for some reason so it's apples and oranges all round. Also would like to point out that the 1 and 2 series front loader can't compete in any way to the one on the yanmar But I am being realistic and I can say that yes this is a hard comparison however Yanmar will give you more tractor on a lower horsepower machine. In the end the Yanmar will be closer to a 1 or 2 series without any trade offs to the agricultural possibilities.
I've got a john deere 790 4x4 . 30 hp yanmar. 4 speed , bucket .Over 1400 hours no problems. Proud of the green and yellow. ( like the red , white & blue ) I wish I had a new 790 in my garage like my 2001
I just recently bought the sa424 yanmar and would put it up against a john deere any day. So far I have bout 40 hrs on it and I also have the backhoe and man I have pulled out some big stumps and a big rock that is probably as heavy as the tractor itself. So in my opinion pound for pound and dollar for dollar. Yanmar is a great deal. Also my dealer so far has been great. Had to get a new pin on the backhoe as it would not accept any grease and no trouble with any of the warranty stuff. Great video.

There is a big price difference because the Yanmar being used in this comparison has a smaller frame and much less horspower. I think the best comparison to do would be to compare a Deere 2032R to a Yanmar YT235.
Just curious, why did you use the SA424 instead of the YT235? Seems to me that the 235 would be closer to what someone shopping for a Deere 3032e would be looking at, where the SA line is more head to head with the Deere 10 series.
Good question. Because they are closer in terms of power (lifting wise) the 235 has a lot better specs. Also I had just compared the Kubota to the 235.. thank you for your comment!

@zacs8654, it can’t be mechanical injection, it’s a Tier 4 emissions engine with more than 25hp. There’s no such thing. The Yanmar gets away with no emissions equipment because it’s below the 25hp threshold.
better to compare the 1025 or 2025. I got my 1025r for 1100.00 after the incentives Also got the 60 inch deck and front end loader which added to the cost but was and extra 200$ off for getting 2 attachements, we were at less than 17k out the door with a maintenance package.

Apples to apples your 35 HP YT235 cost more than the JD 3032 E , bit of a closer comparison. the 1025- would be closer to the 424 or 324. and cost about the same also. so this comparison isn't really equal.
according to john deere website our tractor is less than 23,000 ((235)) compared to 26,000 ((3032E)). 1025 is closer in terms of cost and horsepower. however the 424 has literally DOUBLE the lifting capacity than the 1025R. If I get one at Tractor Bobs I will be sure to compare them :) Thanks for your comment!!
…this video has misleading info. First, you are comparing a 24 HP yanmar to a 32 HP deere. The 24hp 3024e is a better comparison. With loader, it can be had for less than 20k after incentives/discounts and that is a very similar price to the yanmar 424. You’re only saving 2k and will lose this + more on resale. After adding backhoe to both, price is almost the same since yanmar backhoe cost more.
I think he had mentioned all of that. Bigger engine and more power. Still I don't think the Deere is worth that much more when the specs of both are almost similar. No specs were given on the different drive lines except they are both hydrostatic.
Yes, and isn't that difference in horsepower critical because 32 HP requires THOUSANDS of dollars in government mandated emissions controls that a 24 HP tractor does not.
Yanmar needs to come to my county so i can get one, John Deere is overpriced! Wont negotiate either on anything, very arrogant attitudes. I’ll take the japanese quality and reliability anyday.

You’re not comparing apples to apples. Ya the Deere costs more but it’s heavier, more HP, ie pulling power. The Yanmar can list all the numbers it wants as far as lifting capacity but at what cost, is the front axle going to last? is The loader? Can I get parts when it does break? Is the ass end going to be too light to do anything with that weight? Exactly, a LOT of un-answered ?s. The Deere has bigger rear wheels, not sure of width difference. It will make it more stable on hilly terrain. Bottom line you’re paying more for the JD but you are getting more tractor.
John Deere is way over priced and rated, hell John Deere has a lot of their parts farmed out to other manufacturers including Yanmar. I’d rather have a Kubota
Torque is not pounds per foot! There is no slash in the units. The correct term is pound feet as written and is often quoted as foot pounds. Also, 7 hp difference on a base of 24 hp is almost 30% more, a substantial difference!
Agreed, next time we will have to put it up against the YT235, which about twice as powerful and still costs less. The sa424 and 3032e are very close in lifting but much different when it comes to horsepower and cost. This video simply demonstrates how you can get a Tractor that's nearly $10,000 less expensive than the 3032e, and get ABOUT the same specs plus a 10-year warranty with the Yanmar SA424.
