I work with 3D mechanical design for about 14 years now, but I never actually had drawn even a signle shape (correctly) by hand. So I found those videos and there crazy good! I mean my brain is making those crazy connections now between the shapes and how to draw them .

Yep...im gonna eat all of this construct like hell and then go to life drawings and then............ahahahha ahhahahahahahahhaha *Continued maniac laughing*
Thank you for your great videos. I am studying drawing in general as a hobby, and I found that industrial design teaches you how to REALLY draw. So I've been really getting a lot of value from your lessons.
Thank you very much! Industrial design type sketching is definitely a great basis and teaches you most of the important fundamentals. I would recommend doing figure studies(as soon as corona allows it) because there is nothing better for learning the human body than doing live figure drawing! Also have fun with drawing :)
I can already say this video is a blessing. I was struggling a lot with either not knowing basics or trying to learn ultra-complicated sketching. This falls right into what I was needing. Thank you for taking time to teach us!

Thank you very much for the kind words I really appreciate it! Please don't leave school :D But just for drawing it's not necessary although you can learn a lot of other useful stuff there! :)
stumbled upon thousands of videos before finding this one and I gotta say, thank you for making things seem easier. I finally am stress free and all set to draw.
I think a great way for people to understand the importance of basic shapes and forms is: Put yourself in the shoes of a 3D artist. If you are trying to get into a design job, eventually your designs will need to be handed off to a 3D artist to model. Now fortunately for the 3D artist they are given the shapes and forms automatically. Perspective is done for them. Unfortunately for us designers, if we get even one angle wrong, the poor 3D artist will be scratching their head trying to figure out why what they are doing is looking wrong. They start out with basic shapes and they make cuts and extrudes and bevels and projections and whatever else they need to, to get that basic shape to look like our designs. And their programs they use are very precise! So it makes sense that we should aim for that level of precision. Draw like a 3D artist models! The chances for mistakes will go way down.. And honestly I find it fun to be this precise. Freehand doodling has its place... but eventually you will need to design something that only exists in your brain. And for that, it's very helpful to know how to draw, even a cube, in perspective, at any angle. If you can do a cube, you can make a series of cuts to practically make it any shape.
Thank you for the video! I was learning 3D modeling before I decided to learn drawing as well and I can say with confidence that looking at every object from the perspective of its primitive shapes is absolutely fundamental and helps a hell lot down the line!
I did this the other day when I drew a couple of flowers but I didn't think much of it, so thank you for making me see how to use it for everything else 😊
I work in 3d modeling but was always garbage in drawing, my sketches are isometric but not very clean. Starting with these basic shapes made my sketches improve significantly since I already have a good idea on how 3d shapes look
