    I love how the trail opens up and gets almost completely smooth and then has some fairly technical sections, nice trail, nice riding man!

    It refreshing to watch videos with a non expert skill set!! My kid and I are just starting to get into playing with MTB's and downhill parks. Some of these dudes and dude ets Might I add fly by us like they lost brakes and have ZERO FOOKS to give!!!

    Great riding man! I have a fuel ex 5 plus and took it downhill. My bike can do more for sure with better suspension setup.

    so I've been riding my marlin 6 for 7 years now and I'll even take it on trails like this. It simply does not take it, and while I'm not a good mountain biker by any means, I've had some people tell me that I'm outriding this bike. I just picked up a fuel ex 9.9 for cheap so we'll see what we can do with it! First time ever riding a full suspension bike, let alone a carbon one :) I'm still gonna keep the marlin though because I beat the ever living crap out of that thing and it still bombs trails like nothing. Still my favorite bike.

    Does the shock get stiff when you pedal? Also is the frame durable? Im thinking about getting the ex 7 2022

    If you put a 160mm fork and a batter rear suspension you can have a good enduro

    • @dvxShoeN
      @dvxShoeN 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Its mit a good idea to put 160 in front while u have 130 in the rear. Trek says the maximum travel is 150mm in front.

  • @mikesmith406

    You could do this on a hardtail marlin ..I have...and I also have a top fuel 7..its just a matter of what your legs can take

      @@mytrustysteed8476 some 25 years ago, kinda when full suspension was just coming out, people did this type of terrain all the time, I know I did on a Stumpjumper with a pretty lame rockshoch Judy on the front, which was actually a decent fork back then.

    Dude what you taking a break for lol that trail is all downhill. Easy af. We bike on shitty trails that have more uphills than downs. It sucks.

    For christmas my parents buy me the trek fuel ex 7 2020 I'm very happy. You have a 29" or 27.5"? Is very nice bike ? ( sorry for my english im french :) ps: more videos your are strong !

    • @mytrustysteed8476
      @mytrustysteed8476  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have the 29 " version. How tall are you? I am 6 feet and if you are near that height I would recommend the 29 ". You can also get another wheelset later if you want and swap to the other size. I love the bike but I made a few upgrades and I think the biggest one was putting a rockshox Pike 150 mm on the fork. Have fun on the new bike!

    You drive great, but it looks like a hard fight for the fork. Did you drive the REBA? I just bought a used fuel ex7 2018 and like it. But the fork is only avarage imho. Before I owned a Trance 2016 ltd with a 160mm Manitou Enduro Fork (upgrade). The Trek feels like 150-160mm in the rear, but the fork is limiting the bike. For Trails great but really enduro material :)

    I have the same bike with some upgrades biggest difference was putting on a 2019 140mm pike really transformed the bike, how do you find the standard breaks ?

    • @mytrustysteed8476
      @mytrustysteed8476  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I put a pike on mine and I agree it was the best upgrade I did to it, I'd almost say necessary... The stock brakes were fine until I started bringing it the bike park. I did ride it for a while with the stock brakes at the bike park, but I wanted some more stopping power and control. Went for some sram guide r's. Happy with them, cheap on pinkbike if you can find take offs

    • @LeecMTB
      @LeecMTB 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      My Trusty Steed yeah I have been thinking about the brakes tbh I just find I tend to run out of stopping power half way through the day when I’m at the bike park , daily trails are fine ,I was looking at the guide re as an upgrade but worried that 4 pots might mean more maintenance

      This bike is the 29er version. I have a 150 mm Pike fork in the front and technically a 136 mm shock in the back ( rockshox super deluxe)

    Looking at trek fuel ex 7 2021 this is the similar type of Trail I got Rocky , was thinking about going remedy instead,, just a casual Trail rideing and rocky black Diamond trails that’s the type of riding iam going at the moment . Been watching your Vids for awhile any recommendation which bike and go for ??

    • @mytrustysteed8476
      @mytrustysteed8476  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I rented a remedy Last year in sedona. It's a fun playful bike, but I didn't really like it on technical rocky sections probably because of the smaller wheel size. Remedy is definitely better for jumps. They are both great bikes, I'd say decide if you want a 29er or not good luck

      @mytrustysteed8476  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it is decent for jumps. I've hit plenty of them with it. In general 27.5/26 in tires are better for jumping, but it's still plenty good

    What size bike is this, L? You mentioned it wants to nose dive you. I am 5'11" and was considering size ML.

    • @mytrustysteed8476
      @mytrustysteed8476  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a size L and I'm right between 5'11 6'0 . I wouldn't want a smaller size, when I said I got nosedived I accept that as my mistake and not the bike.
