They're in a relationship, but their only real reason for staying together is their love of arguing, making them a super toxic couple to begin with. Marvin still has a ton of internalised homophobia, so he tries to force Whizzer into a stereotypical housewife role and condescends to him all the time. They wind up breaking up near the end of act one, then some more spoiler-y stuff happens. I definitely reccomend listening to the whole show, but only if you're prepared to have your heart violently ripped out of your chest at the end
