The best indie game I've seen is Little nightmares 1 & 2. The game does not have dialog but it tells so much. It doesn't focus on "Family Horror" genres such as Bendy and Hello Neighbor. It's a side-scroller horror-adventure puzzle type game and has amazing graphics, art style, soundtracks, and interesting lore.
eh, I love the game but calling it a side scroller? Maybe at times most certainly but its not 2d in the slightest. a true side scroller is like dead cells or the kingdom series. not kingdom come deliverance btw I mean like Kingdom two crowns series. games that are only left and right with some verticality involved. Little Nightmares series let's you go in all directions. oh, don't forget Very Little Nightmares the mobile game. That one is pretty good too from what I've seen.

The creators of the game obviously made it as a sidescroller puzzle game judging by what critiques and youtubers say about it. It's honestly crazy how Tattletail disappeared from popular view immediately. I was obsessed with it when it first released, but I randomly was reminded by this. I think the last thing I saw for it was in 2017
I’m actually kinda surprised at myself for how I kinda forgot about it, and just in general for how it fell into obscurity so fast. The concept of a freeroam fnaf type game that revolves around the idea of Firby’s, which was already kinda of an eerie concept, was really cool, and the execution wasn’t bad either, though the satanic ritual towards the end was a bit of a stretch.
I'm convinced that the reason that Tattletail lost popularity so quickly was because it lacked explanation. It doesn't explain anything, why mama tattletail is evil, or even sentient in the first place, or the ritual scene in the final night. Sure, it leads you to believe that mama was possessed by some sort of demonic entity, but doesn't explain any further. The kaleidoscope dlc just leaves the player with even more questions, and seems to have a completely different concept from the base game, when it could've provided what the base game was missing, an explanation for the whole thing. I love the game, however I feel that this was a major flaw in the development, as well as how they set so many things up, but just left them be, without as much as a brief explanation or continuation. However, this is just a theory. I haven't played, or watched anyone play the game in a while, and I could just be misremembering this whole thing.
As much as I can get behind the idea of Poppy Playtime actually becoming a good series, you will never catch me dead playing this game after everything the creators have done, as much as i can respect the talented staff working on the game in the background
As there is no such thing as harmless consumption under capitalism, you're always harming someone, I don't really care what methods people use to survive this unfair world, especially if their only crime is lying or stealing. So what that they bullied a kid and potentially stole his game? People judging that behavior often do way worse stuff, like laughing at mentally ill "lolcows" or sending people death threats, which are things I actually can't stand. Besides, art should belong to everyone, do plagiarism isn't even morally wrong in my book. Not like I'm going to buy the game, I hate horror, but if I was going to I wouldn't care.
My biggest issue with these kinds of horror games is that because the sequences are very scripted its not going to be any fun on a replay. The chase at the end especially. What could have been a maze like area where she's looking for you and she can hear you or use her long arms to try and grab for you is just a very straightforward run with only one solution. It's scary the first time but not after that. To me This game is like a very fun haunted house ride but not much more. A price to pay for the godlike animation of the monsters. Also the puzzles are way too much of the game. Probably cause they can't come up with creative horror scenarios

I've played it 3 times over and still rather enjoy the chapter. It replay ability is great the hidden lore and small details I keep finding is so much fun. Also mommy herself as a character I enjoy and her chase I still find it can get me off guard certain section. Also the count down secen is so cool she doesn't even say 2. very unexpected stuff followed by so much theory potential.

I'm so sad about Poppy Playtime. When I first saw gameplay of chapter 1, I thought it was a really cool puzzle game with a unique control gimmick in the grabby arms. Now I see that it is a "horror" game where the only true horror is the developers

The Directors are only there to make sure things get done, they are important parts of a developing theme but they're definitely not the developers of the game
As much as I love the game, I will never play it. The shit the founders have done is unforgivable. I will stick to watching let’s plays. This is one of those situations where we really can't punish all of the talented staff because of the scummy actions of the main 3 behind the game. I like the direction the game is going and I really like the voice acting and animation but that's where my praises end.
Agreed only those 3 were bad even the director is cool. I would probably only play ch1 because it's free now and I think everyone except those 3 did a great job on the game!
The people in charge definitely are very questionable, as are their cash-grabby decisions regarding NFTs, the movie etc.; however, I'm genuinely surprised how much more they put into chapter 2 - the studio as a whole, that is. To be completly honest, I thought it was better than Chapter 1, even if I didn't play it, just by the voice acting and direction, I could tell that it had more work done on it than Chapter 1, especially with *that* Mommy Longlegs scene. Is it still kinda janky? Yes. Is it really cheesy/corny sometimes? Absolutely. But still, it looks, and probably *is* much better than Chapter 1.
Instead of another chase scene, I'd love to see a sort of messed up "hide and seek" gimmick. Still playful in the childlike theme, but also reminiscent of games like Outlast. :)
It's a pretty different genre, but the Little Nightmares games do that very well, with a blend of stealth gameplay and chase sequences as you hide and run from huge monsters as child characters.

Honestly my biggest takeaway from this video is how amazing those jumpscared are! I really hope steel wool will take some notes for there next FNAF game! Also Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 does look really good but I really dont think I could support mob games after all the shit they've done.
I totally love you branching out from fnaf! don't get me wrong, I love fnaf but branching out increases what you can make and creates a larger audience. (I also really like poppy playtime chapter 2 and I was considering buying it. This helped me realize I'd rather just watch Dawko play it lol.) I would also just like to mention that the fact that your expectations were low, and that you hadn't watched people play it, increased how much you enjoyed playing it. If I went to play it I would probably enjoy it less than you because I have high expectations and I already know what is going to happen. They probably cut his teeth from the PC icon because his smile looked wrong on PCs with smaller icon settings. Windows allows for users to scale desktop/taskbar icons, meaning that executables have to store multiple icons at differing resolutions (16x16, 32x32, etc.), or else their game will simply use the Windows default program icon. I can imagine that at a resolution of something like 32x32(the resolution of small mario in the original Super Mario Bros.) his mouth transformed from sonic.exe to super mario, combining all of his teeth into two solid masses of tooth, and so the team simply rerendered the icons without the grin to make it look more appealing.
absolutely hate the developers, love the game(s?) and the people that actually worked on this game are (most likely) amazing! They clearly put a lot of dedication into this project that is unfortunately only made for marketing.
As someone who bought Chapter 1 before it became FTP, I can say that they had given NO compensation to those who bought the game so far. Not even a discount or anything for chapter 2, at least as far as I've noticed.
Honestly the hate for Bendy is pretty unjustified. I mean, the devs had some controversy I won't get into, but we are talking about the quality of the game it'self. I think it's a pretty decently good game, especially for it's time. Of course, it's not a groundbreaking masterpiece. But it's absolutely not the steaming pile of garbage that people would like to convince you that it is.
I’ll be honest, despite what some of the creators did, I’m still looking forward to seeing the finished product. Hear me out, I this game is an actual good quality game made by people with passion. The Mob Entertainment staff is now HUGE, with many people putting mountains of effort into this project. We shouldn’t completely discredit the whole studio of passionate creators because of some things that some a**hole executives did. And judging by the effort going into chapter 3 and into fixing project playtime, these people care more than you think. TLDR: Do I agree with what some of the creators did? Hell no. However, I don’t think it’s ethical to undervalue the WHOLE team’s efforts for something that they didn’t have control over.

Honestly, the only thing that is good about the game is some of the characters' designs and the live-action toy "ads". I saw the behind the scenes for the Mommy Longlegs "ad" and it was impressive, hell, I even gotten nostalgia watching these fake ads!
my favorite part of the game is when you're going back to the train station, you can hear mommy killing the toys in a fit of rage since they failed. This adds tension because the next few games you know that even for the toys, it's life or death.
Bendy and the ink machine isn’t a “cheap attempt at replicating that popularity” it actually has a good plot and theme. Aka the theme of “nothing should last forever”. The lore of BATIM is really interesting, trust me.
Kinda funny coming from th3badd3st's opinion during his stream to seeing a positive opinion on it. Personally I wasn't a fan of chapter 2, it felt a bit sluggish and too reminiscent of other games, but that's just me.
No occasional stuff like this is NOT fine. Just do what you enjoy man! we'll give you creative feedback. If you stick to a single game you'll quickly run out of content and we'd lose a pretty entertaining creator so just do whatever content you enjoy man!

You should play Bendy, it has cool textures, a decent story and one of the best sounds in games like this, mainly the music, however you should avoid Hello Neighbor at all costs(I actually like it, but most people do not and for good reasons, it's very messy).
i actually had trouble with the swinging mechanic too. i died quite a few times because of it also, i thought this chapter was very good. mob games is pretty terrible though, sadly.
1:08 i actually still think bendy was pretty good, it's one of the few trendy horror games i played and i had a lot of fun with it. I definitely suggest picking it up.
They charged 5$ people for chapter 1, and when chapter 2 came out, they made chapter 1 free, as well as doubling the price for chapter 2. While it is an ok price, it's frustrating to see how Mob Games charged people for chapter 1, only for them to make it free after the release of Chapter 2. Let's hope they don't do the same when chapter 3 comes out. Edit: I've read how they decided to make Ch 1 free sense it was short, which makes sense.
Try bendy. Bendy has a simular plot to poppy playtime. both games you are a ex employee in a abandoned place used to produce things for kids and they tried to make their products a living being.
I recommend playing the old beta versions of hello neighbor. There is multiple beta versions that are so different from each other it's very fun. But the actual game is kinda bad since the creators lost what made the game good

Bendy is only good until chapter 2. They dropped the ball super hard afterwars. Boring story, repeating level and designs, filled with bugs. In my opinion, all Bendy has is a unique style.
What I also dislike about Poppy Playtime is similiar like Batim. Batim has an ex-employee visiting his old workplace after few decades, PP has that shit too. Everyone is gone, the old workers are acutally the spooky scary monsters and are trying to kill you. The thing is, Batim has its own twisted world and isn't as similiar as Fnaf except the mascot being your main enemy, and mob took it away from them.
Before I had doubts from chapter 1 and MOB Games reputation seen as this cheap cash grab. This chapter definitely caught me off guard seeing how much effort was put into this chapter. I might disagree on your take of how the developers should’ve execute the Simon game, I think it’s necessary for people to get confused when first seeing the color violet. I don’t think a shocking moment is the only thing they’re after as confusion can add more tension to players who’re already stressed over the clapping cymbals getting louder and knowing how little time they have. I also think this is somewhat educational as it test people’s ability on how they encounter this kind of problem, learning through trial and error and deliberately search for other ways to solve this problem, especially when being frustrated or under pressure. Telling or making the solution easier doesn’t give much reaction than before and makes it feel as if the game doesn’t trust the player on how they play. Better to look around rather than to only rely on what’s in front of me.
I recommend that the next game you try to cover is Manhunt, that game is the Magnum Opus of Horror games, it's totally worth the coverage, it needs more love.

bendy is a pretty good series! my only issue with it (outside of obligatory dev drama) is that the story is a bit wild and feels thrown together, but i mean, you like fnaf so. plus, bendy and the dark revival honestly managed to tie the loose ends and make everything make sense while also having its own good story

I have my own reason for not wanting to play this game aside from the drama, the making chapter 1 free, the anouncing a movie before the game is even 2 chapters in (christ it's a lot of problems) Chapter 2 was and still is broken, like, SB levels broken, even if they have fixed stuff, it still had major game breaking bugs. Also the game's a dumpster fire to begin with, if it wasn't money first and the devs weren't terrible it would still not be worth it.

I think that Bendy is one of the few ‘Mascot Horror’ (the better phrasing) games that is actually good. It has its flaws, but overall I’d say it’s a good experience.

Game looks and feals ammazing. Its scripted and really well animated but that is expected since the creators are owners of animation chanells. But just becuz you are good at your craft doesnt mean your methods are good and justifiable for reaching the top.

I'm so sad about Poppy Playtime. When I first saw gameplay of chapter 1, I thought it was a really cool puzzle game with a unique control gimmick in the grabby arms. Now I see that it is a "horror" game where the only true horror is the developers

This is one of those situations where we really can't punish all of the talented staff because of the scummy actions of the main 3 behind the game. I like the direction the game is going and I really like the voice acting and animation but that's where my praises end.

The people in charge definitely are very questionable, as are their cash-grabby decisions regarding NFTs, the movie etc.; however, I'm genuinely surprised how much more they put into chapter 2 - the studio as a whole, that is. I'm genuinely curious if they can pull this off. Did they ever announce how many chapters the entire game is supposed to consist of, by the way? 3 is always a nice number. Or 5, like Bendy? Something else?
To be completly honest, I thought it was better than Chapter 1, even if I didn't play it, just by the voice acting and direction, I could tell that it had more work done on it than Chapter 1, especially with *that* Mommy Longlegs scene.

It's a pretty different genre, but the Little Nightmares games do that very well, with a blend of stealth gameplay and chase sequences as you hide and run from huge monsters as child characters.

I totally love you branching out from fnaf! don't get me wrong, I love fnaf but branching out increases what you can make and creates a larger audience. (I also really like poppy playtime chapter 2 and I was considering buying it. This helped me realize I'd rather just watch Dawko play it lol.) I would also just like to mention that the fact that your expectations were low, and that you hadn't watched people play it, increased how much you enjoyed playing it. If I went to play it I would probably enjoy it less than you because I have high expectations and I already know what is going to happen. Just wanted to mention that, also I would LOVE to see a vid on what you want from chapter 3!

They probably cut his teeth from the PC icon because his smile looked wrong on PCs with smaller icon settings. Windows allows for users to scale desktop/taskbar icons, meaning that executables have to store multiple icons at differing resolutions (16x16, 32x32, etc.), or else their game will simply use the Windows default program icon. I can imagine that at a resolution of something like 32x32(the resolution of small mario in the original Super Mario Bros.) his mouth transformed from sonic.exe to super mario, combining all of his teeth into two solid masses of tooth, and so the team simply rerendered the icons without the grin to make it look more appealing.
absolutely hate the developers, love the game(s?) and the people that actually worked on this game are (most likely) amazing! They clearly put a lot of dedication into this project that is unfortunately only made for marketing.
As someone who bought Chapter 1 before it became FTP, I can say that they had given NO compensation to those who bought the game so far. Not even a discount or anything for chapter 2, at least as far as I've noticed.

Honestly the hate for Bendy is pretty unjustified. I mean, the devs had some controversy I won't get into, but we are talking about the quality of the game it'self. I think it's a pretty decently good game, especially for it's time. Of course, it's not a groundbreaking masterpiece. But it's absolutely not the steaming pile of garbage that people would like to convince you that it is.
I heard the later games were full of bugs tho, but can't say anything myself never really got into the franchise

I’ll be honest, despite what some of the creators did, I’m still looking forward to seeing the finished product. Hear me out, I this game is an actual good quality game made by people with passion. The Mob Entertainment staff is now HUGE, with many people putting mountains of effort into this project. We shouldn’t completely discredit the whole studio of passionate creators because of some things that some a**hole executives did. And judging by the effort going into chapter 3 and into fixing project playtime, these people care more than you think.
TLDR: Do I agree with what some of the creators did? Hell no. However, I don’t think it’s ethical to undervalue the WHOLE team’s efforts for something that they didn’t have control over.

Honestly, the only thing that is good about the game is some of the characters' designs and the live-action toy "ads".
I saw the behind the scenes for the Mommy Longlegs "ad" and it was impressive, hell, I even gotten nostalgia watching these fake ads!
my favorite part of the game is when you're going back to the train station, you can hear mommy killing the toys in a fit of rage since they failed. This adds tension because the next few games you know that even for the toys, it's life or death.
Bendy and the ink machine isn’t a “cheap attempt at replicating that popularity” it actually has a good plot and theme. Aka the theme of “nothing should last forever”. The lore of BATIM is really interesting, trust me.

No occasional stuff like this is NOT fine. Just do what you enjoy man! we'll give you creative feedback. If you stick to a single game you'll quickly run out of content and we'd lose a pretty entertaining creator so just do whatever content you enjoy man!

You should play Bendy, it has cool textures, a decent story and one of the best sounds in games like this, mainly the music, however you should avoid Hello Neighbor at all costs(I actually like it, but most people do not and for good reasons, it's very messy).

1:08 i actually still think bendy was pretty good, it's one of the few trendy horror games i played and i had a lot of fun with it. I definitely suggest picking it up.
They charged 5$ people for chapter 1, and when chapter 2 came out, they made chapter 1 free, as well as doubling the price for chapter 2. While it is an ok price, it's frustrating to see how Mob Games charged people for chapter 1, only for them to make it free after the release of Chapter 2. Let's hope they don't do the same when chapter 3 comes out.
Edit: I've read how they decided to make Ch 1 free sense it was short, which makes sense.

When chapter 2 of poppy playtime was relased I started to like that game even if the "main" creators (ZAMination and EMOB) are for me bad persons

Bendy has got to be one of my favorite game in this genre. Hello neighbor got desperate for attention and was laughable
What I also dislike about Poppy Playtime is similiar like Batim. Batim has an ex-employee visiting his old workplace after few decades, PP has that shit too. Everyone is gone, the old workers are acutally the spooky scary monsters and are trying to kill you. The thing is, Batim has its own twisted world and isn't as similiar as Fnaf except the mascot being your main enemy, and mob took it away from them.
Before I had doubts from chapter 1 and MOB Games reputation seen as this cheap cash grab. This chapter definitely caught me off guard seeing how much effort was put into this chapter. I might disagree on your take of how the developers should’ve execute the Simon game, I think it’s necessary for people to get confused when first seeing the color violet. I don’t think a shocking moment is the only thing they’re after as confusion can add more tension to players who’re already stressed over the clapping cymbals getting louder and knowing how little time they have. I also think this is somewhat educational as it test people’s ability on how they encounter this kind of problem, learning through trial and error and deliberately search for other ways to solve this problem, especially when being frustrated or under pressure. Telling or making the solution easier doesn’t give much reaction than before and makes it feel as if the game doesn’t trust the player on how they play. Better to look around rather than to only rely on what’s in front of me.

Yo hold on you NEED to play Bendy. It's genuinely so good. It's very scripted and linear gameplay wise, but the story is really interesting, and it has some tough segments.

The executive producer also plays a key role in the majority of the controversies.
