    In between deciding to homeschool my youngest son or putting him in a smaller district. He has struggled with school due to bullying and was diagnosed with clinical depression and severe anxiety. I don't want to pull him away completely from associating with other children his age but if he is not accepted this would be the next step and I don't even know where to begin or how to go about getting a curriculum. His grades are poor in school right now but we are in a big district and I feel he needs one on one teaching. And I feel like this would provide that. In class they are rushed through and not given the special time they might need. Help.

    • @practicalprissy2714
      @practicalprissy2714  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Firstly, it’s great that you are considering other avenues for your son to feel confidence and successful. Homeschooling can help in each of the areas you described, which can change the way he experiences learning and friendships. Learning at home doesn’t have to mean distance from peers, and even allows for you to find groups that better fit your son’s interests and needs.

    Hi!! I'm a homeschooler in MS but I want to relocate, so I'm here for research. Great info by the way!! My questions are do you have to send a filled out enrollment certificate to the enrollment officer in your county? and if my children decide to attend public school, will they be tested before being placed in their correct grade?

    • @practicalprissy2714
      @practicalprissy2714  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I’m glad you’re here! Texas does not require a notice, although a district may request one of the child has been previously enrolled in public school. Similarly, testing for grade level placement will more than likely occur at the discretion of the district, school, or even individual educator depending on the policies and preferences.

    How often do home school children have to go in and be tested and evaluated?
    Our church is repurposing a building to do just that. I don't know what the school will be named or how much it will
    cost the parents to have their children tested and evaluated.
    Does anyone know the answers?

      In Texas, there are no testing or evaluation requirements. This opportunity may just be for additional support, which is great for knowing what accommodations or approaches may work best for each learner!

    Hello! First time visiting, I have an upcoming 2nd grader and 6th grader (both boys) and fear I may not be able to help my oldest. He’s a very smart and studious child. In addition my last completed year of school was 10th grade, and I have a GED. Any advice from you or your community on how difficult is is to keep them challenged enough and learning through middle/high school at home?

    • @practicalprissy2714
      @practicalprissy2714  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s amazing that you’re preparing ways to best support your kids in their learning, despite feeling apprehensive. They are already being set up for success by having such care and attention put into their education.
      I know there are many options to help bridge any gaps, including supplemental teaching materials to support you, tutoring, or even curriculum models that will require less parent input (if that’s what you’re looking for). We’re all learning, so don’t be afraid to explore alongside your kids as they grow!

      In Texas, he can get his GED as early as 16yrs. They use the transcript from his previous school. They get tested to check what level he is in. And if his score is great he can be accepted in to a trade school where he can get Certification in short programs offer by The Texas work Force. And from there he can sign up into college.
