    You went all in on this repair! Not my problem today, probably sooner than later, it will be. This was very informative. Thanks for making this video. I’m sure it will come in handy! You’re a true champ!👍💯💯💯

    Thanks for the video! I was able to unjam the deadlock through the speaker hole without taking out the whole assembly (only remove the panel and the speaker); try to use the other door’s deadlock location for reference and poke away

    Does this work even with the child lock active? I’ve got it all stripped down. Pulling both internal cable and pulling down in the white part inside door mechanism but doesn’t open.

    We were able to get rear drivers door open with your instruction. Doing passenger door but pushing on back of actuator and pulling door release is not working. Any thoughts on how to get lock to release?

      I just did the passenger side rear based on this video and it worked.

    Thank you for sharing this. I've just had the same issue. Should Volvo not recall and replace latch?

    • @DiamondStarWerks
      @DiamondStarWerks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not really as it's mainly an issue with trying to open the door while trying to unlock it. It's not a safety failure so it'll never hit recall

    Great video, keep it up 🤝🏼
    I’m having a similar issue one one of them(2017), but in my case the right, rear window and lock don’t work(checked the #33 20 amp. fuse, but is good).

    Thanks for posting this. I just did this process last night. It was a BEAST. Took out speaker to get to those screws. How did you NOT have the window come down when you took they vertical bar/window raiser deal out? Do you have the window taped? How easy is the replacement of the mech? Just those three screws?
    Thanks for posting this!

    • @DiamondStarWerks
      @DiamondStarWerks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had masking tape on it. I believe it's just those three screws, that's all I need to do to get it off the glass. If you need the procedure lmk, I can send a pdf.

      @DiamondStarWerks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just have to follow along the video and try to reach that latch. Normally the lock mechanism gets stuck like that. That's really the only way to access it when they door won't open

      @DiamondStarWerks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CrazyDuck4u have you tried to reach and move the little white lever I showed in the video? The cables aren't the issue, the lock is, moving that white tab was the only way I got it to open

      Go to 2:15 in the video, press the white tab down and pull the cable

    I had the same issue on my 2017 XC90 but after been priced €850 from Volvo for a replacement door actuator I decided to investigate it myself. My rear door was completely dead locked from both inside and outside of the car but when I checked it out I found that the dead lock mechanism had become stuck and by using a small rod I could release it without completely dismantling the door panelling. After I released the dead lock mechanism I then greased it up and haven't had a issue since and that was over 1 year ago.

    • @DiamondStarWerks
      @DiamondStarWerks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Same here, I didn't actually have to replace the latch after I got it unstuck it kept working ever since.

    • @fakjee
      @fakjee 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi!
      How did you first get it to open when it was stuck from both inside and outside? I have the same problem with V90 rear door, if I get it to melt a little then it opens, but even with small freezing degrees I can't open the door.. I would like to try the same thing as you, would rather not open the whole door panel :D

      Hey Thomas, can you confirm how/where you inserted the rod? Through the speaker? And were you using the rod to jiggle the white thing that is adjusted in this video? Thanks so much.

    • @thomascullen1634
      @thomascullen1634 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@WillSmart-yr5ez Hi Will. The best way to access the dead lock mechanism is through the hole were the cable from the internal door hand cable runs through. With that said if you remove the internal speaker you can use the opening to put a light/torch in to light up the area around the door lock actuator so it's easier to see the moving parts. If you want to give me a email address I could send you pictures of the part of the actuator that needs to be released with the rod.

    Do you by a chance have a part number for the latch assembly that you needed to replace? I have everything off and the door open, but what to do next I don't know. If its super straightforward, I apologize, newbie here :)

    • @DiamondStarWerks
      @DiamondStarWerks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually didn't replace it. I was able to unstick and get it working without replacing anything. The latch just gets messed up normally when someone is trying to open the door at same time someone is trying to unlock it.
      In this case kids trying to get out constantly pulling on the handle waiting for it to unlock.

      @@DiamondStarWerks That is great! I haven't had a chance to get in there again, but last I was in there I was able to get the lock mechanism out but there was a cable it was stuck on (I think the exterior door handle) and I couldn't find the release for that to be able to take the part fully out and look for the jam or where to grease and what not. Did you take the lock mechanism out? Or did you grease/investigate with the part still in there?

    • @DiamondStarWerks
      @DiamondStarWerks  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I never took it out. There was a little white lever (I think I showed it somewhere in the video?) That I was able to move with my fingers that let the door unlock. I think it just gets stuck in the middle or something when someone tries to unlock the door at the same time someone pulls the handle.
      After I got it to work by moving that piece it worked ever since and still is working today as far as I know. So I never had to remove it or replace it.

    My sister is having the same issue with both rear doors in her XC90. After the fix, how do you prevent the same scenario from re-occuring? What is the cause? Does anybody know?

    • @DiamondStarWerks
