Since 1997 anyone passing a driving test to drive a car in the uk can legally drive vehicles weighing the maximum weight of 3.5 tons. If we wish to drive any vehicles weighing more than 3.5tons then we have to take a Heavy goods vehicle test. Even if the vehicle is not registered for commercial use.
@@ivecodaddy4817 yes. In the USA anyone who passes a drivers test can drive something up to 13 tons. However if it is a recreational vehicle like a motorhome, camper or if its for farm use you dont need a different license. Didn't know that about the UK with that low of a weight restriction. I wish it was harder for people to get a license here. So many bad drivers
Westen, I love that Pete! I used to dive a really old one in the 70s for a guy hauling grain. What fun I had for a couple years! I am now 66 and retired! I would love to go back to driving!

I am no longer a truck driver(thank god after 24 years of it), but train engineer now. I always enjoy seeing a real nice tractor, and hope you post a video highlighting work you do, and of course the final results. Love the color too, I hope you stick with the same blue.

TH-cam brought me here. I had a laugh when he mentioned the 389. I saved and saved for my 389. I haul grain. Sure overkill but I love it. It is a pure Cadillac. Definitely a classic

I'm the son of a Road Train driver and I love watching this. This guy gets the beauty of trucks. One of my favorite trucks is actually the Kenworth T909. Beautiful hard working girl that hauls hard. At my Dads work we have an old Kenworth cabover that was made back in the early 60s. Rusty as Shit but it just won't die

I drove that same model '04 Pete with 475 Cat, and an 18 spd. Loved that truck. Really looking forward to seeing more about this truck.

This brings back the memories of my dad’s Pete. I think it was just a couple years newer and it was a beautiful burnt orange but it had a 15 speed.

Westin drove and floated these gears like a pro. I recently got my CDL and I drive a pete, but unfortunately it's not a 379 or 389, it's only a 579 but at least it has the high sleeper roof so I can stand up completely inside, and the fact that I've watched this whole series in my Pete.

Probably the best truck I ever drove.
Big Cat with an 18 speed and that was the perfect combination to run any type of road across the entire US.
It would pull mountains and stretch out over straight flat terrain.

The kenworth w900 and the Pete 379 are my favorite trucks. I used to be a diesel mechanic and they are pretty easy to work on compared to some of the other trucks.
