Fun vehicle! Great review, thank you! Technically an "autocycle" based on most states definitions (more than 2 wheels, or less than 4), at least that's what it was considered when I was on the job in a local county... but none of that matters because it's just a fun go-cart type of vehicle for the street. We had a 2017 SLR (with the older engine) and it was still a lot of fun. I recently took a ride in a friends new Slingshot and they have made a lot of improvements over the years, we would have loved the heated and cooled seats to help stretch the usage across 3/4 seasons of weather in the Northern US. Whatever you ride/drive, have fun and be safe.
Hi Ryder, thanks for the note. Yeah, the premium-spec heated/cooled seats work really well. We were really surprised. Thanks for sounding off and we'll see you on the road.
Do you know if I can ride this in californa with just an M1 endorsement liscense. I have one in NY and I'm perfectly legal here, but was planning a trip to cali with it but don't know if my motorcycle only liscense will work there, Cali laws are so damn confusing,
They u go with that Miata u heard someone say it one time comparing it. U can’t see the difference of sling and Miata huh lmao I see tho. It’s a cool and different kinda ride.. Dane an afford one go get a job dumbs ass opinion.
It's a slower, riskier version of a miata, but with 3 wheels. They're registered as bikes, but it's nothing like it, they tend to be pretty cheaply built, hard to work on, and covered in plastic. Its a big RZR for the street. Just get a trike if you're not ready for 2 wheels, you'll probably be better off and spend a lot less.
@@dickgrantberg Take a slingshot around a corner at speed then take a Miata around it at speed and tell me which you would rather be in. Fun and weird in a straight line but once your in a turn and the weight starts to shift that single rear wheel becomes a major issue and sketchy as all hell.
I wouldn‘t call it a motorcycle. It‘s much closer to a car. For me, the easiest definition of a motorcycle is a wheeled vehicle that can lean into corners. So that definition includes those three-wheeled scooters but a trike or that thing doesn‘t count. Please enlighten me if there‘s a flaw in my statement.
Agreed it’s an auto cycle. Some idiot parked in the very small area for motorcycle parking here at work. Steering wheel and no handle bars it’s a closer to a car than a motorcycle
i live in south florida, i can confirm that these things are popular here. mostly tourists, or guys too old to trust their balance on a bike. when they were new, you could rent one for 199 a day, these days, im sure theyre cheaper on turo.
Its takes all the disadvantages of a car (wide dimension on the road compared to a motorcycle) and combine with all the disadvantages of motorcycle (less space to put your stuff compared to a normal car, no roof), in one single vehicle. Bravo to the ones buying it

Wild-looking machine, but I'd rather have a Can-Am. Which I actually have: an F3-S. But I also ride conventional motorcycles, four of them, plus a scooter. I regard my F3 as my 'car'. I love Adam's enthusiasm. I've been watching his reviews for years. I think the first one was a Ducati Scrambler when they first came out.
Right, besides having to wear a helmet which is good or bad depending on your risk assessment levels, are there any benefits for that being designated as a motorcycle in California, or is it just all negatives?
I rather buy a corvette used , than this crap , at least I can take the vette to work on a rainy day cause this is only good for 1 pretty sunny day, cause guys have told me it will spin out in the rain...... In a Vette you can go to any state and not wear a helmet like you have to in some states cause this thing is playing be a motorcycle 😂
They never came stock with turbos but that's the advantage of the older GM engine, plenty of aftermarket turbo kits out there for 3 to 5k that take it up to 300 whp. Don't think a turbo kit has been developed for the Prostar yet but I could be wrong.
Trikes are very dangerous. The flip easy and you get trapped underneath very quickly! It is cool asf though, id rather have a Tesla. These are definitely too expensive. Fk, OK I'm not totally sold on it, but if they were cheaper then I would buy one.
40 minutes of video and less than 30 seconds with both hands on the wheel. Not the way you’re supposed to drive, neither fast nor safe. This is a big No-No for me Adam, not the way to go. Back on two wheels, and a bar. This is a bad example for youngsters. ❌❌❌

In my thoughts you’re better off buying an actual car, much safer and better price, you can still have a lot of fun 😊
Options are a very good thing... buy what you like and enjoy.
Never seen Adam so excited!!
Miata Is Always The Answer 😁
Not when you're 6'5".

Nailed it.
Sounds like somebody can’t afford one
It's a bike with the front replaced. That's it. The problem that is all tricycles flip very easy, and you get trapped under them very fast.

Love this 2-tone color scheme on this 2023 slingshot R!
What a great review, honest and accurate. Thank You.
I’ll keep my Spyder F-3S thank you. It fits in my garage along with my 2 cars in the winter. It’s more like a motorcycle.

Adam always does a great job with reviews.
Steering wheel=car
Handle bar = motorcycle
Do you consider a can-am spyder a motorcycle?

I’ll tell you what I did with my 2015 because the headlights were not so good. I converted it to a 2021 with slingatti LED lights.

Or buy a convertible if motorcycle’s aren’t your thing.
DON'T HAVE TO SMOG.
YES kudos for the start up warning. With everything computerized now you have to wait for the computer to boot up.
Wow that's way more expensive than I thought it would be.
What's up with the 2 min ad in the vid
It has a body that you sit inside, the other seat is beside you rather than behind, and you steer in with a steering wheel. It's a car.
If you want a Miata but have no common sense and crave attention, this is the move.
@@dickgrantbergyea I agree. Like a motorcycle to most people, this is just a fun toy for the weekends.

Two wheels in front drastically reduces the risk of flipping. I wouldn’t attempt a J turn, but flipping is the last reason i wouldn’t buy one.

Hi Lasergun, motorcycle and powersport safety are fundamental ethos to us at Motorcyclist Magazine. Thanks for the note.
Has absolutely nothing in common with a motorcycle. Attempts to claim this as such are pure ignorance.
