He is finally thanks to this. I know there are a lot of people who think everything after Telekon sucks but some of my favorite Numan songs were from that period. I'm grateful that Gary didn't give up because it did look bleak around 91-92. Gary now has a beautiful wife and a lovely family, so I wish him continued sucess. It also taught me you shouldn't let people drag you down. If you stick with it and believe in yourself, good things will happen.
No shame. I grew up with his song In Cars, but didn't find this one 'til 2016 and found out he's been steadily releasing some great music all this time. I'm just glad to get to experience it ❤

I like the change in Gary Numan's music recently. Very Nine Inch Nails influenced. Turned from being alien/robotic music from the new wave scene from the late 1970s and early 1980s and gave it a more up-to-date gothic image with an eerie, dark edge. Good to see Gary Numan again after all these years.
NIN was Influence by him, Trent has even said so. So strike that reverse it...Mister Numan was going this way a long long time ago... people are just really noticing now. saw him live last year and it was incredible.
I saw an interview were Numan was saying he though NIN was the best bands around today. He said Rezor sets the bar and resets the bar with each new album. Two masters feeding of each others talent. I love it. They are actually very good friends. If you haven't seen it there is a live video of Numan and NIN doing Metal and Cars on TH-cam.
Rictor Rockets I always thought the song and video was about Jack The Ripper's ghost. The lyrics seem to go with when Jack The Ripper met prostitutes and then killed them in the most brutal manner. The chorus lyrics definitely. But also the Synths in the chorus sound reminiscent of a distorted choir of female singers, almost like the voices of the women he's killed, forced to sing for his continuous reign of terror, if an unlucky person stumbles through an old passageway in the underground to find the television. If you listen to his demos on Jagged, Pure, Savage as well as the songs on Sacrifice and Exile you can hear that he has used the synth sound of Gregorian Chants or Choirs, typically found on the Korg M1.
Numan rocks that top hat so wicked- perfect hook to the Reggie Cray era look. I think people under-rate Gary's attention to visual details and theme- there is some serious graphic design and attention to classic references. People constantly underestimate this guy.
I'm watching him live in less than a fortnight. His music is stunning, it places you in different levels of consciousness... without the drugs. And that is unique xxx

Thank you for this piece of art Gary Numan. There is such thoughtful depth in this song and video. As someone who experiences multiple self-states from childhood trauma, I find this arrangement very therapeutic. The idea of the self, watching the self which is watching the horror is presented. Then the horror loses one dimension of depth as the observer presented becomes entangled in the tape (presumably containing the horror). The lyrics "everything bleeds" representing the horror bleeding through, rather than blood itself. The introspective questions "Do, do you know my name? Do, do you know what I've shamed?" With hope, that information is what the observer receives as the distance from the horror to the self closes.
Numan at his finest. I cannot get over how he has remained relevant for all this time. Of course, for us fans (Tubeway Army 1978 would be me), it doesn't matter. This track has everything, and so does the video. Love. LOVE.

Yes it was, I'm from the UK originally so have followed Gary from the old Tubeway Army days through until now - I thought the venue was awesome too and i don't know about you but his two supporting acts had some powerful sounds going on there, added to all that, the crowd was very friendly too, an awesome night in all - I don't know if you follow Gary on Facebook at all but he said that the Philly crowd was the best he'd ever had, thats a great compliment for all of us there. :-)

With his new album, Gary filled the gap left by NIN last year.
Gary played this at his tour venue in Philly last Sunday (23rd March) he is just as brilliant now as he was in 1979 and his sound/persona changes have been great to watch - from 1979 to now, I've followed this brilliantly talented man across the globe,... now to get back from the USA to the UK to see him at his homecoming gig at Hammersmith...if you are following his Splinter tour or have already, make sure to follow his support acts too..Roman Romains and Big Black Delta

Yes it was, I'm from the UK originally so have followed Gary from the old Tubeway Army days through until now - I thought the venue was awesome too and i don't know about you but his two supporting acts had some powerful sounds going on there, added to all that, the crowd was very friendly too, an awesome night in all - I don't know if you follow Gary on Facebook at all but he said that the Philly crowd was the best he'd ever had, thats a great compliment for all of us there. :-)

I'm same generation as you, although I didn't wear white socks (but always suspected you didn't, really, either), and I was always pretty damn sure your "Cars" didn't have too many furry dice. I was the alt rock kid that was totally into you despite the social tribal cost to my rocky High School reputation. And these long decades on, I am now absolutely LOVING the new stuff!!! But here's a thing - how's about a definitive classic Velvets cover from you? I'd love to hear that and would not be the only one. Make it a Nico cover, and your old alt audience is sold for eternity and your newer audience is amazed and confused. Which is the kind of thing what we want, isn't it? And masses of your own new stuff, obviously. OBVIOUSLY - MORE MORE MORE, my friend - keep on going, my oddly-eyebrowed musical hero!!!
His new album is quite fantastic. Really looking forward to seeing him again next month.
