      @Tanesha H. so it was actually in the movie when I saw it in theaters, and when I bought the DVD after I noticed, they cut it out for the DVD. I think that was a pretty big scene to cut out. Don't know who made that decision, but it was the wrong one. Also, the scene where Dixion tells the reporters, "Ain't nothin' over until it's over," at the end was cut for the DVD release as well. It was also on the Big Screen

    What I love about this one.. In the end.. There's no "villain" in this film. Dixon is just a young up and comer. He's never faced a force of nature like Rocky. He's always just been a dominant force. Then immovable force meets the unmovable object. But he begins to respect Rocky by the end.. and Rocky does get that last chance to get it out of him.. wonderful film that bookends the series.

    • @angie-tq4ew
      @angie-tq4ew 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      My favorite part is that he walks away before the winner's call, because he really doesn't care about the win, only that the "beast" is gone, and once again, he went the distance. But, yah, I love that Dixon wasn't a villianous fighter, just one that cared about his career.

    I am a HUGE rocky fan and have seen all the movies many times over. Each one with with so many life lessons, this one being no exception and has a special place for me. Like I said, I had seen this movie several times, but in 2017 it really helped me. I was in the hospital after my second cancer surgery and facing 6 months of chemotherapy. My head was filled with uncertainty, I was flipping through the channels and what did I happen upon at that moment... The Speech. "The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward". From that point my whole attitude changed,

    Such a great movie and a perfect ending to the Rocky franchise. One of my all time favourite films. The producers had trouble finding an available venue to shoot the fight and crowd scenes until Stallone suggested piggybacking an actual boxing ppv event, but apparently he was concerned that the crowd (who weren’t briefed beforehand on what was going on) would boo or cause issues once they started filming. On the contrary, when they saw him coming out they started chanting “Rocky, Rocky” so all of that noise and positivity is real and unplanned. Shows how much love people have for the Rock character.

    Rocky is amazing. I watch it every single year. On November I go through the entire series and watch all the movies with my wife. Rocky is not a boxing movie. It's a long running story about a man's life. From start to finish. The ups, downs, losses, victories, falling, and all the twists and turns. From enemies becoming friends to losing family to carrying on with all the life throws at you and learning that each time you think you've hit a stride there is a life hit coming your way. You can't dodge it you can only take the hit and the end of the Rocky story should be his death. The idea that life goes on even when we are gone. We can leave an impact but in the long run life will one day move on without us. I see Creed 3 or 4 being the final piece of the Rocky story and if not then they have missed the point completely.

    Regarding the age question…he wasn’t as old as Rocky is supposed to be, but go find the video of George Foreman winning a championship title at age 45 [edited: I originally said 44, but checked and I was wrong]. He and the champ are going at it, and George just delivers one good *bang* to the jaw…and suddenly the champ is literally out on his feet - he just falls to the canvas like a sack of potatoes.
    25:00 By the time they filmed this I’m pretty sure they’d put the statue where it is now - near the base of the steps, on the right as you’re looking up towards the museum. People line up all year round to get their pictures taken there.

    I recently watched all of the rocky movies in the last week or 2, and this would probably be my 2nd or 3rd fav. It’s like I generally felt really bad for rocky in his movies cause he’s gone through a lot , but especially this movie . It’s cause he’s a great guy who I would actually wanna hang out with and be friends not cause of his fame. Like he’s dealing with the loss of his wife still (which will affect every man for a while ) and his son doesn’t want much to do with him until the end. Like he was basically alone (not literally, figuratively) until the end with his son when he’s started to train again for his boxing match

    It took 3 years to write the script for part 6.
    Catching the flavor of the original and just in time for the 30th Anniversary.
    The fight was the first thing they filmed in Mandalay Bay, to be as real as possible.
    Rocky's character has endured for so long and still stays humble.
    The speech to Rocky Jr. is the best dialogue of the film and that will always be remembered.
    This was the beginning of a whole new resurgence for Stallone as an actor & filmmaker.
    Afterwards came Rambo IV (2008), The Expendables trilogy (2010-2014),
    Bullet To The Head and Escape Plan (both in 2013), etc.
    Not too mention, he raised his physique to unbelievable levels in his late 50s/early 60s.
    Sly Stallone has truly proven as Lil' Marie said "The last thing to age is the heart".

    I don’t watch this one much because his grief is so overwhelming to the story. I literally can’t handle Stallone crying. Yeah I’m the one that leaves the room when Mickey and Apollo dies. Lol

    I love this franchise and my tier list would be rocky 2,rocky balboa,rocky,rocky 3,rocky 4 and rocky 5….the thing is I love 2,6,1 more just because it’s more of a drama and 3,4,5 feel more like popcorn movies but still good fun movies but I like the more serious grounds dramatic one better at the end of the day

    Originally, Mason was supposed to be played by Roy Jones Jr., but just before the movie went into production, Antonio Tarver beat Roy Jones Jr., so they got Taver to play Mason instead.

    I think loving rocky iv for alot of people….we grew up in the 70s and 80s in the cold war…so it realy mattered when there was an east german and a comunis bpoland and czk and hungary…and we fought vietnam…beating the ussr was everything….the world litteraly was cowing in fright over these two countries waging war… and your country had to join a side..we r soon coming to this level of agnst with chinese military expansion

    Fun fact: Roy Jones Jr was supposed to play Mason Dixon instead of Antonio Tarver, but after Tarver beat Jones in their fight, Tarver was chosen to play Dixon.

    Now for the creed movies and both are good. Other good boxing movies you should watch are "Raging Bull", "Cinderella Man", "The Fighter" all 3 are true stories and definitely worth the watch.

    If you liked this, you'll LOVE a movie called Grudge Match. Its by far one of the most entertaining boxing movies out there and it settles an age old debate. Who would win:
    The Italian Stallion Vs Raging Bull

  • @JoeMama410

    Stallone said he didn’t bring back Adrian because he couldn’t make her fit into the story, but it would have been nice to see Talia Shire, either in a flashback or at least some more recent pictures on the wall.

    At the beginning of the fight when they're talking about the champion Otis shape they're talking about Dixon not Rocky

  • @scottaznavourian3720
    @scottaznavourian3720 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    All I got to say is Dixon Is lucky it was an exhibition fight and not a title fight. Especially since rocky wins in the alternate ending.

    When I heard they were doing Creed, I just thought they were going to ruin this perfect cap on the series. Rocky's not rich, but he's not poor. He can hang out in his little restaurant and talk to patrons about his fights. He even has a little love interest maybe. It was a good finish... then, I saw Creed. lol.

    Rocky 5 & 6 were ok. There was still a lot of things I liked about them. I think the reason I didn't like them as much is because it was tough seeing Rocky and his family struggle like they did and drift apart, and it annoyed me seeing his son complain about living in his shadow. But I did like the speech Rocky gave so I understand it.
