I don’t see the point of growing my hair if it has to be covered all the time. Fake hair causes my hair to break and I do not look good in mini twists/braids with my own hair. Still trying to find a healthy style that I can wear out.
Finally, I found a video without protective styles. I've been reading so much about our afro hair and TH-cam/websites can become confusing because one person says you must do protective styles the other say you don't need them etc. But I believe we can nurture our hair without protective styles and it will still grow as long as we keep it moisturised, wash, deep condition and trim when needed. Because sometimes we just want to see the beauty of our hair out as that's what hair is for right? 🤷♀️❤️ PS. Because of your title that I've been searching for ages, I subscribed to your channel automatically! 🥰
Leaving the hair out means your ends are rubbing against your shirt, knots, styling breaking points. I feel like this is for someone with strong strands or looser curls.
The last tip is my favourite. A few weeks ago i decided to stop protective styling and forcus on the moisture and health of my hair. Its been 3 weeks of daily/every other day moisturising and omg. I really dont know if the more frequent manipulation will have a negative effect i can only speak for my hair health so far but omg my hair is flourishing. I always thought my hair was 4c since i had no curl definition, detangling was a mission and it was just nappy and dry. My hair actually has curls! Im still trying to adjust to embracing shrinkage because my hair is actually bra strap length but honestly i wouldnt go back. This is the best thing ive done for my hair and i just hope it doesn’t compromise length retention. Tm do it your hair will thank you so much. My hair is just so soft and defined and i just cant believe it was that simple. Why the hell was I listening to all these yt hair gurus abt nonsense. As if my dry 4c hair should go days without moisture. Its like saying someone with eczema should moisturise their skin only once a week 🤦🏾♀️i feel like a fool 😂😓
I just took out my locs and I have to start my hair from point A all over again!! I want to actually just wear my natural hair without any weaves 😭😭 hopefully I can manage
I agree with the water tip, since adding more moisture/water to my 4C hair it really does not shrink up so much with water as it did before. Also adding water alone will cause it to shrink but if your hair has a good leave-in conditioner it will stay more elongated.
I have high porosity hair and have been told not to spray water daily. However, my hair gets so dry. So I put products with water in it almost daily. I think I will try putting a little water each day.
I have high porosity, fine, easy to frizz and tangle hair. After a cabinets filled with hit and miss products I found I needed to SEAL the moisture in with Ole'school grease. My soaking wet twist outs sealed with hair grease. I even use Murray's Pomade to seal my ends when I warm press.
Thanks for this great information I am 57 about to turn 58 in August and I was wanting to stop wearing the crochet styles and wear my own hair my hair is pretty fine I've been natural for about 3 and 1/2 years but I've always wore protective styles so I'm going to try this thanks so much for all the info
Thank you so much 💕 May God bless you for helping us! Your videos are great, straight to the point, and very helpful! I hope I find your products in Sally's Beauty Supply store
I am a black Brazilian woman. I lived in the US for 12 years. During all that time I didn't understand the benefits of using a protective hair style. Protective from what? On the other hand, my American friends didn't understand how my hair could stay so healthy if I didn't use it. Just let your hair be!
Hi Swirly Curly I have your book and I ordered 6 bottles of your hair oil, I'm a little confused with information regarding blow drying the hair and breaking the hydrogen bond by adding water I don't want to wear a protective style I wash condition put a leave in condition then blow dry my hair not to get it straight just to dry then I used a small amount of shea butter to style. By adding a sprint of water and gel am I breaking the hydrogen bond in the hair soooo confusing all the information on the internet and TH-cam I haven't started using the oils yet as I'm finishing up the book I'm sooo happy i found your channel Kind regards
@goldenwriter5089, absolutely! Aloe vera can be a fantastic addition for extra nourishment. Give it a try and see how your hair loves it! 🌿💧 #NaturalHairCare
I have never done protective styles. I have genetically thin fine 3b. I have also never grown my hair in the last 10 uears or so. I prefer shorter styles. Mt hait is now in an angled bob. I need to trim monthly to keep it in the shape I want. So my hair growth is on point. I am unemployed and I agree that your hair can be just fine with consistent routine and cheaper products.
Can you demonstrate a wash n dry or a wash n go? I have fine natural low density hair and I want to grow it but I believe using protective styles will just thin it out more. Do you still believe these 3 styles are the way to go just curious because I just found you and the video is a year old so I am asking if the 3 styles still stand true for you. Thank you for the videos
I was trying to figure that out too lol. She had tight coils on most of her pics but the latest one looks like 3b almost 3a. I have multitextured hair as well. This is strange, unless this is the result of her stretching her hair.

@@swirlycurlyhair Hi! I have multiple patterns as well. I have 3b, 3c, 4a towards the front, but my 4b sections in the back do not stretch out like this without heat or manual stretching with twists and my hair is moisturized. Your previous pictures literally looked like beautiful 4b coils in the front and back of your hair but your hair look almost straight after you washed it and it was damp in the video. This really does not make sense to me.
I bought your elixir and I’m not sure how to use it. Do you apply only once a week and then wash? I wash my hair weekly, do I apply 2x per week before washing?

You would like Dickey here on TH-cam also then. He talks a lot about moisture w/o so much protective styling

Can you give an update? How has it been wearing less protective styles and more manipulation?
Yes! I did not even know the true curl pattern of my hair. Doing wash and go styles has made me fall in love with my hair ❤.
Any updates?? Hope your hair is still doing well. If not, that's fine.
Please what is your moisture routine?
How has that been going? Has it been working?
Wat a dream come true.....finally got Julia Roberts to help me with my hair😁😂😂thank you ur so beautiful
RIGHT?!?! 😂
I’ve noticed mixed race that had 4c hair girls don’t wear protective styles and there hair still grows I will apply this thanks.
Of course! Thanks for watching!
This is type 4 but it isn't 4c. Look at the ends

You are putting on water but are you sealing it in? If you don’t have fine hair look into adding grease
How often do you shampoo and condition? You may need to do it more frequently

Does porosity really matter?
Hi! Yes porosity matters! It determines what products will and won't work for your hair.
How did curl pattern completely change? You had an abundance of4b coils before and now it basically wavy. Is your hair stretched?
Hi MT! I have multiple curl patterns in my hair. You can train your hair by being consistent with products. It is stretched a bit in this video!
