I kind of feel like Jerry missed how the fan works, this specific fan is an IMpeller meaning it sucks air in from in front of it and then throws it sideways, there was a small duct that the air could move down and then openings on the underside of the body close to where the accessory port is meaning that the cool air is directed toward the part of the glass that has the metal just underneath it.
Don't get me wrong I'm not saying it's the best thing to ever exist, just that when I saw Jerry scraping away plastic to try and find a heat sink I knew he had the wrong idea about it

This phone has lasted me for four great years. Never cracked and barely any scratches on the screen. This is after years on Navy ships and dropping it on non-skid.
Only issue I've had with the phone over time are the updates supported by Asus. There were times I've had to reload older operating systems because major features failed to work, specifically phone calls.
This phone cost me a little under 1000 dollars and is, overall, still a great piece of hardware.
