The Phaeton is still being built for international markets. It was only pulled from the US market in 2008. I believe it also produces the Bentely Continental as well.
and that's why these cars cost so much! They could never use this type of system for a high production model. Although, I must say that I feel like a caveman for being awestruck by the amount of technology I have never seen before.
Great Video, German Engineering at it's best. But one thing, the glass-tower is not unique- in Wolfsburg, heart of Volkswagen, we have two of them in the Autostadt. The Autostadt is like the "3D visiting card/ business card" of Volkswagen. You can also take a tour through the manufacturing in the Volkswagen Werk in Wolfsburg =)
Now, I am really impressed with this plant! I used to see that storage building on pictures but never knew how hi-tech the whole plant was. By the way, if German cars ever were to become like what happened to Nokia, then they should worry by Elon Musk's "iphone"
Those are VWs that would like to be BMWs. Don't get me wrong: the Phaeton is a fine car. The only problem is that it has no potential customers and VW lost millions of euros in this project
It is impressive but this seems to be an assembly plant. No casting No forging No machining No stamping I would like to see that part of the operation.
@MrH4rper Absolutely correct and I've owned several of the absolute worst as well as two Volkswagens which, though well built, were very poorly designed. One caught fire in the rain because of a wiring design defect [connectors carrying high mechanical and electrical loads without support], the other expired at 92,000 miles in spite of careful maintenance and gentle driving because of inadequate oil control and poor cooling system design.
Could have guessed! It's a car for like $100k++ that is made there .. And it would be a nightmare to get one to the shop to change the engine for example. Nothing today is ment for the aftermarket. It sucks!!
@BasketBoffalora already exist volkswagen let design the golf 1 by a very famous italian designer Giorgio Giugiaro. he designed several cars for volkswagen
It also means Germany can be more productive and can afford more unemployment benefits/ free education to mitigate the effect of lost jobs. You can't really blame technology when China will gladly take your jobs at 10% of your wages. Technology is the solution.
@tubbyboy1985 i think you should worry about romania you are the ones not doing well at the moment and we are helping greece what else should we do????? trust me germany will just do fine in the future
@tubbyboy1985 trust me eastern and southern europe are not our whole economy and we are the one that give them the most money and the reason why we buy there shit is because they NEED to sell it ans we will make new JOBS by buying their stuff and developing it
@tubbyboy1985 u know eastern europe isnt germanies economy...... and i asked u what we should do to help greece we are already giving them the most money by far in europe if u dont like then let romania pay the next billions.
Could not unsee the smiley face in those robotic sleds.
I am not a German, but I am crazy about Germans they the best engineers and smartest people on the planet! God bless Germany!
This factory looks amazing
But yeah. this is amazing technology, everything feels so high tech.
One of the best factory building, best engineers, best robot, best cars and ultimate perfection.
German standard
I enjoy hearing German people say "I didn't used to this".
I love those cargo trams!
I have a 545i. I'm more impressed with a Passat I just drove yesterday. VWs are really something great.
Electronic Engineering at its very best......Long Live Germany
very appropriate considering that germany makes the most and best cars ever
ain't no car like a german car. germans can't do shit, but they are by far the best car builders!!!
The Phaeton is still being built for international markets. It was only pulled from the US market in 2008. I believe it also produces the Bentely Continental as well.
impressive, cutting-edge thinking and execution.
Oh how I love german engineering.
country of mechanical engineering and machines , best industry ever , tools & cars & etc...
german cars the best cars!
Huh, looks like a space-saver.
Good idea.
That makes sense, they never got to the moon.
I was there an watched how the workers built the cars..
and its so fucking amazing!
And less room for error, and better functioning vehicles, and less worker liability, and more jobs for robotic engineers, etc.
and that's why these cars cost so much! They could never use this type of system for a high production model. Although, I must say that I feel like a caveman for being awestruck by the amount of technology I have never seen before.
the day is not far off , when they will make cars like street food.
Watch your burger. - If you get it .
Germans, no wonder all the mad scientists have German accents.
I love to hear Germans pronounce ANYTHING in English.
"Ze end of ze vorld!!"
It also feels like a place where your part of the experiment. hehe.
love that the guy dubbing has a german accent even though it doesn't make any fucking sense why
I'm proud to drive a Golf

You like vw visit autostadt wolfsburg it's amazing
interesting, I think they pulled it from the Canadian market as well.
Great Video, German Engineering at it's best.

I like how you mix engineering and religion
Hahaha, at 0:48 the woman sais, "ja, wir sind nämlich mit einem Pferd gekommen", which means, "Yeah, we came here on a horse" ^^
Aah deswegen kann man stolz darauf sein Deutscher zu sein : )
'
this building on the background is a berlin wall between east and west germany
they are good at doing things systematically...
Now, I am really impressed with this plant! I used to see that storage building on pictures but never knew how hi-tech the whole plant was. By the way, if German cars ever were to become like what happened to Nokia, then they should worry by Elon Musk's "iphone"
I want to live in Germany.
thanks
The bug was designed by Porsche 1935
oh my god thats futuristic
They should work more on improving their car quality and less on pretty factories.
Not sure if audio is off, or over-dubbed...
You should see the Wiesmann factory :D
Isn't '-.-' a clear enough sign that I'm being sarcastic?
Automatic cars factories in Siem Reap City area
Those are VWs that would like to be BMWs. Don't get me wrong: the Phaeton is a fine car. The only problem is that it has no potential customers and VW lost millions of euros in this project

thats what i call german engineering!!...

@tubbyboy1985 ever thought about bout the americas (north and south) and asia ?????
Could have guessed! It's a car for like $100k++ that is made there .. And it would be a nightmare to get one to the shop to change the engine for example. Nothing today is ment for the aftermarket. It sucks!!
@nmgncross not to mention other stuff, such as tools and tooling steel. guranteed quality.
That's an old bug, but not original. The original had a T bar down the back window.
Idk if its voice overs. They audio and video are just off from each other.
Is this for show or actually an effective factory?
Both.
@BasketBoffalora already exist volkswagen let design the golf 1 by a very famous italian designer Giorgio Giugiaro. he designed several cars for volkswagen
Can someone tell me how they shape the metal so that it's so curvy? As far as I know, you can't bend metal like plastic...
Where is all of the welding done?
thanks :D
I wonder if the plant in Mexico offers this service? ;)
@tubbyboy1985 of course somebody from england has to say that
It also means Germany can be more productive and can afford more unemployment benefits/ free education to mitigate the effect of lost jobs.
You can't really blame technology when China will gladly take your jobs at 10% of your wages. Technology is the solution.
I think he means people who speak english.
Are those BMWs or Volkswagens?
it's a weak strain of epilepsy
drive it one mile and it will all be dirt and grime
well this ain't their Mexico plant...the only thing VW needs to do is make it as reliable as the Japanese...
@tubbyboy1985 i think you should worry about romania you are the ones not doing well at the moment and we are helping greece what else should we do????? trust me germany will just do fine in the future
I wonder how a chinese car factory looks like
@manojsm87 DAMN STRAIGHT!
@gnossticc If loving Germany makes a person an asswipe, then you are correct. But I love America too, and that makes me a doubly big asswipe.

How about Finnish?
That they are smartass copycats ;-)
Hyperbole
as cool as this is, all this automation means less jobs in the manufacturing industry and more people out of work.
