    On kyllä hieno TransAm! Itselläni on 2015 vuoden NS Bikes eccentric alu complete, jonka rungon geometria on saman tyylinen kuin TransAmissa. Tykkään kovasti TransAmista ja Eccentricistä molempia ajaneena :)

      NS Bikes Ecentric näyttää hyvin kilpailukykyiseltä tässä kategoriassa. AM jäykkäperät on ehkä vähän täysjoustoja hitaampia, mutta jotenkin näillä ajamisessa on mukavampi tunnelma. Se on jotenkin yksinkertaisempaa. ;-)

    very nice build! How do you find the Ardent on the front? At the moment I have 2.3 HRII front and 2.25 Ardent rear, and its a little too draggy on road sections. Thinking of swapping the HRII with an Ardent or Advantage, not sure which one would be better though.

      +buntcher I have 2.25" Ardent at back and 2.4" at front. It doesn't give hard cornering grip, but rather fades away smoothly. Thus it is predictable also as a front tire. If you check my riding videos, you'll get an idea of trails I'm riding. Typically I'm pedaling most of the time and gravity assisted riding is only short descents. In this kind of trails Ardent is a good compromise on grip and rolling resistance as long as both ends are acting similarly.

      To build bike like this out from new parts costs something like 2000€. This one is not for sale. Transition have stopped TransAm model and thus you shall look elsewhere. Kona Honzo or Ragle Bigwig are pretty similar bikes geometry vice.

    I love it! I actually am a newbie when it comes to mtb but I was about to buy a transAM but didn't cause I thought it was one gear! Lol

    • @TeroH
      @TeroH  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +BigTallYetiG yes, rear dropouts are adjustable and thus this frame is single speed friendly. However, I like it with gears.A dropperpost would be a good upgrade to this build.

    • @TeroH

      Bit slow response. Transam have 44mm headtube and thus bottom is external EX44 and top is ZS44

    i have a bike that has a 1 1/8 steer column, the fork i have is alright but i would love to upgrade. unfortunately im having a very hard time in my research to find a fork that would fit since almost all quality forks these days are 1 1.5..... is there anything i can do to get my bike to fit a tapped steer column?? if so please let me know what it is and how i can do it. it would be so so helpful. i am really starting to become frustrated haha

    • @TeroH
      @TeroH  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Tom Pitts If your bike have traditional external headset bearing cups, there is nothing you could do to make tapered fork fit. But, if it has internal bearing cups (44mm id headtube) you could change lower bearing to extrnal type and you'd be good to go. This is the setup in TransAm.

    IS the frame steel or aluminum? and there is also 27,5 this frame? Thanks

    • @TeroH
      @TeroH  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +l0pez83 TransAm is a steel frame. Mine is 29", bur 27,5" is available as well. Both sizes have pretty much the same geometry.

    • @TeroH
      @TeroH  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      This TransAm costs about 2000€ to build. It contains XT-level components that are still reasonably priced. How ever, Transition doesn't have it anymore in their offering.
      I have sold Commencal and Ragley. Thus currently my bike fleet contains Transition Scout and TransAm. Not for sale for now.

    what size of headset do you use ?

    • @TeroH
      @TeroH  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a straight 44mm id headtube and since the fork is tapered, lower part is 44mm external cup (EC44/40) and top is 44mm internal cup (ZS44/28). You better check your frame specification before purchasing headset.

      +Majd Murad Well, here in Finland, we can ride all forest trails we can find. We can go pretty much everywhere. No need to haul bike by car to some bike park first. Local people wandrer in forests and thus we have a trail network everywhere. Country is relatively flat and thus there are no long descents nor ascents nor lifts. We just pedal our way forward. Weather is something that could be better...

      +Tero Hiironniemi looks good. I could not tell by tell, I find the shades of paint colors really interesting. If it was that dark I must of thought it was in actuality a shade of blue. You know.

    how does it ride ?

    • @TeroH
      @TeroH  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well. I'm planning to make a video about it. But in short, everything is relative. Frontwheel is quite far in front and thus it gives comfort to handle steep desents. Also controllability is great in steep sections. Rear center is supershort even if you compare it to 26" bikes. It help to manage rear wheel grip and thus there are multiple rockgardens which I have ridden much faster than with my preivous bikes. Riding position follows current fashion and is forward pointing attack position. This again helps control ja body movements does not need to be as large as with previous generations bikes.
      Superb Am hardtail. Not for XC racing, but for me this is spot on.

      This is budget build - sort of. I happened to have Shimano XT 180mm disc available and founded a good deal of Avid 160mm disc for rear brake. To improve style, I might change rear disc to Shimano disc.

    what kind of mtb is this ?

    • @TeroH
      @TeroH  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      TransAm is so called All Mountain Hard Tail. It has short chainstays, longish reach and slackish headangle. 130mm fork at front. 29" wheels. I use it for commuting, local trail rides and back country daytrips. Fast descents are much easier with full suspension bike, but everything else goes well with this bike.
