    i was wondering if the heat from the resin curing may have melted the hotglue but looks like that isnt a problem here. do you think if you poured casting resin instead over it where its a thicker layer it would cause the glue to melt??? i dont know what the melting point of the glue is but just curious. thanks for posting this video - very nice!

    • @SueFindlay
      @SueFindlay  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because you are only pouring a think layer of resin, it doesn’t heat up too much. I have never used casting resin as a top coat, so can’t comment, sorry.

    Very nice Sue! Question... have you ever done a hot glue tree or anything over the top of a resin piece? I am curious to know if so, did it pop off at all after some time? I'm wanting to do a 3D resin piece possibly with this method.

    • @SueFindlay
      @SueFindlay  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I haven’t used hot glue over the top of resin. I have however, used hot glue to create a free form style geode coaster. After a few weeks of curing, I was able to break the hot glue off the resin. I have found that hot glue breaks down over time, so do not think it to be suitable. I would use another material for your project.

      @SueFindlay  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. Not sure how well the glue will do outside. It is covered in resin, so I think it will be okay. Instead of resin, you could add a gloss sealer. I would recommend sealing the back also, before using outside.

    • @SueFindlay
      @SueFindlay  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you 💕 For the small lightweight pieces, I glue D-rings to the back using a heavy duty Tarzan Glue. The boards are too thin to screw the rings on. For the larger pieces, I use Heavy Duty D-Rings and Hanging Cord (Doubled Up). Sorry, I don't have a video on this.

    • @ralitheiss2782
      @ralitheiss2782 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, that is a really good idea. I have tried felt on the back with a small patch of it on top under the big piece. So if you need to hang the piece just slice there and insert the hanging part, glue and let dry. Yet have to make sure that everything is attached really good. Time consuming.

      The base is a wooden placemat, it was spray painted black.

    where can i get a resin

    • @SueFindlay
      @SueFindlay  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It all depends on your location. I am in Australia and buy most of my resin from U Resin.

    I love this. Was the orange you added to the resin orange paint? Could you give a lesson on using resin? I have never used it. Everyone has scared me off it! 😂

    • @SueFindlay

      The colours were added to clear resin before pouring. I am considering creating a beginners resin course. 😍
