Damn Matthew cooked with the "MX blacks on alu with no foam" segment. I'm at that point and love that sound, but it does feel like I've reached the end. And I agree that having some variety keeps things interesting! I still avoid foam tho lmao I just use different switches and plates for variety
It's all so well done. I appreciate the attention to detail and the thought and consideration of each element. It really does trickle all the way down to the end user. Quickly the original Encore is becoming my favorite.
The segment on the foam/sound situation was a wonderful take. It’s a take I also share where I must have a different sound for each board. It’s interesting to me how refinement of taste can be a good thing and a bad thing when it comes to this hobby. It’s like a push and pull factor of growth in this space which is a lot of fun.
Excellent video from two wholesome human beings, really appreciate what Matthew has brought us with the whole Encore concept and how he has portrayed his idea into the hobby.
17:32 So did Matthew intentionally make cuts in his shirt's collar to align his necklace, or did the necklace cut into his shirt (I will assume the first choice, which is genius)
I'm waiting for Matthew to design a 60 or a TKL, heehee. Great video with deep insight to his ideas! Quite a lot in these Encores that I enjoy, but that I must exercise some restraint with (no pun intended).
I think the discussion around cutting your own foam is an interesting one. I like what Matthew said that even for expensive luxury boards mods are just a way of shaping the sound, so kinda making it your own or tweaking the sound to your own liking despite what the designer intended. I think this is the right way to look at things. I find it specially frustrating when high end boards do not offer a foam kit. For that price point you should. Also, it is not coherent with the hobby 'custom mechanical keyboards'. Note the word custom. Generally speaking, the more custom a keyboard is the more expensive it is, that is why 1:1 keyboards are super expensive. Now how come a really expensive board is actually less customizable than a budget board? Makes no sense. Long live customization.
Love the collab and a beautiful board by Matthew. Timing has not been kind since I will have to pass on round 2 again as I'll be buying Sony's new 28-70 lens soon, wish I could still get this but will have to wait ☹ And as a long time Matthew Encina viewer, it's quite jarring to hear Matthew naturally rather than his on-video script reading voice 😂
@@MrSkullhead0 doesn't really match the design nature of their previous, but this is not the main issue. the execution is clean yet very unappealing due to the nonintuitive intended-imperfections.

Sony will keep making 28-70's, Matthew may not always have more drops of the Encore 2. Keeb Math.
But in all seriousness hope you enjoy the lens!
are X ray keycaps ever coming back???
Yea, as mentioned in the video. Extras soon.
Make an epoxy resin case!
r u sure u hit record? LOL

this is one of the worst boards from mode; their other boards are great though.
Just curious what makes it the worst in your opinion.
