    Yes, I sold my perfectly shooting reliable, never-a-problem Maverick in .22 and 30 for my 600mm dual bottle Panthera and Panthera Hunter Compact and hope to have a new Hunter Compact in .30 by Monday from Pyramyd Air. That's why I watching this video AGAIN. As you know I love your work.

    Waiting on my heavy hammer weight and pin probe to show up from Huma. I’ve got the .25 cal Panthera hunter with 380mm barrel. Right now I’ve got a tune for the 33.5 grain JSB slugs going. Reg is at 150 and hammer is just below 3.5. Like maybe 2-3 clicks under. Results are 905fps average with single digit ES. I’m talking like 2-3fps on ES. Groups at 50 yards are dime sized
    I think to go beyond 150 on the reg you need the heavy hammer weight. At least my gun seems to. I tried going to 160 on the reg and my velocity dropped to 845. Seems to get a bit of valve lock. I might try going down to 135/140 tomorrow and see what results are. It’s shooting so sweet now I kinda don’t want to mess with it.

    Ok wanted to come back and talk about my slug tune on my Panthera hunter .25 cal. I’ve tried slug weights from 26gr to 34gr. Keep in mind my rifle has the 380mm liner with a 24” twist. I try to stay somewhere in the vicinity of 940-960fps. The 34 grain were all over the place at 50 yards. 3-4” groups. Went down to 32gr and am holding a 1.5” group at 50. Stepping down to 30 grain opened the group up again. So as of now. The 32 grain are my best option. I saw where FX offers a STX slug liner for the .25cal. This is 1:16 twist and it’s not choked. Problem is the shortest one is 500mm. I ordered one and a carbon fiber sleeve as well. Going to cut them both down to fit. Increasing the twist should allow me to stabilize those 34 grain and possibly on up to 38 grain. Will report back with results later. Maybe someone will find this useful down the road.

      I purchased an FX Panthera 600 mm 22 caliber. I would have liked to get the 700 mm but it's just too long because I could have shot 40 grain slugs instead of 30 grain slugs.
      I added another bottle for a total of 800 cc's of air. I want to get as much energy/FPE/penetration as possible to match or better shooting at 700 mm 22 caliber 40 grain slug but I can't decide if I should go with a 25 caliber liner or 30 caliber slugliner.
      Shot count is important for me. I don't know what I would be getting with 800 cc's shooting say of 40 grain or higher 25 caliber slug or a 30 caliber slug. What's your opinion in terms of which caliber I should switch to and shot count numbers?

    Do you know if when you buy from Tom down there at hpp he checks your rifle before he sends it out? the reason I ask is I want to go with him on a panthera but I don’t want to get one with issues and then have to go through sending it out for repair. I’ve seen to many videos of guys getting there’s and finding out it’s groups look like something a shotgun would do. I mean I know that most dealers take a couple shots to document fps etc at that rifles particular setting at the time of purchase but I would hope a good ten shot group to make sure there’s no problems with the rifle if anything I’m sure I could request him take a closer look at it for an additional fee or something

      Not sure I quite follow your wording there (also it's early and I haven't had any coffee yet!) but if you want max power then you need to go with .30 caliber. Depending on your settings you might get around 20-30 shots per fill with your double bottle setup

    • @surreallife777
      @surreallife777 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @airshootist that's too low for me I probably go with a 25 caliber then. I just woke up too and brain dead until I have some coffee. LOL

    • @airshootist
      @airshootist  19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      If you tune a 600mm .30 cal for Hybrids (44.5gr) @1000fps you can probably get mad shots per fill, like 50+ I'd imagine. I shoot them at 950 out of my 395mm 580cc+300cc double bottled Hunter Compact and I get like 26 shots per fill when it's hot out. I run at 175 bar, though. I know from experience you can run a 600 .30 cal at like 130 bar with Hybrids @1000fps(ish).
      Still, if you want max power you're gonna have to shoot heavier slugs at pretty high pressure & velocity and you'd be maybe getting 30 shots from your double bottle setup, but 100+ fpe for sure.

      @airshootist  ปีที่แล้ว

      Why would you want anything other than hollow point?

    • @kmom777
      @kmom777 ปีที่แล้ว

      @airshootist 2 reasons for better BC at long range over 300 yards/meters and for better penetration for hunting currently the best bc and accuracy at long range is altaros slugs rounded tip and boat tail. No other slugs in .25 with a boat tail and a sharpy tip. Also when you are hunting especially at long range with .30 cal if it's some big jackal or wolf you can not take it down immediately because it has pistol power and that hollow point just expands. If it's sharp, it will go thru more deeper effecting more vitals. Currently, however, there is no sharp .30 with boat tail and that's why people go big bore vecouse .30cal is not efficient enough, but big bore have less shot count and bigger curve due to much heavier rounds and much wider. Maybe if it's top end, Fx dynamics 150-foot pound at .30 will do the trick with hollowed but there are many other older models around 70-80 foot pounds like fx boss, maverick, some hatsans and kral arms, evanix which just need a little bit more to make it and better slug design will do the trick.

    I’ve got a .25 cal Panthera compact and it’s barrel is only a half inch shorter. I went ahead and bought the brass 14.5 hammer weight as you suggested. I also got the pin probe. Going to try for a 34 grain slug tune. Do you happen to know what the twist rate is on the compact barrels? I would assume the .25 and .30 are going to be similar in twist rate. 34 grain at 930 would give me a 65 lb tune. Even dialed down from that, 900fps is still a 60lb tune. Excited to give it a try.

    I have been shooting my Panthera indoors at 27 yards to determine the best load for my gun. At 27 yards indoors, my Panthera 700 in .22, seems to get the infrequent aggregate of .25 - .28" on 5 consecutive 5 shot groups with H&N 30's (with 2 or 3 groups having a poor flyer). I am coming to the conclusion that maybe I am chasing dreams thinking I can get my Panthera to shoot like my Vudoo at 27 yards (5 consecutive 5 shot groups that are all neealy a prefect round hole)??
    My question is, what is an honest back to back .22 competition gun group average with a good slug (say 5 groups of 5 shots all back to back) that a guy should expect with the Panthera at 50 yards? 5X5 aggregate at 1/2"? 5/8"? .75"? 1"?
    Please advise based on your extensive experience. Thanks and I like your videos

      Much like .22LR the lot of ammo is going to matter here. With a really good lot of 30gr javelins I can print I pinky nail sized group at 50. Mine is a 600mm, which is why I shoot the lighter ammo. You should try something heavier. 34g or 40g. Pick up both .217 and .218 flavors and see which it likes best. I'd try 34g right at around 1000fps in your gun.

      Ok thanks. I actually have two different SH liners. The one likes .218 and the other prefers .217. I have tested quite a few different "flavors" and weights - mostly in my .217 liner and it seems to shoot the 30's best around 990 fps (138 bar 2.5-14). I think I will take your advise and go back and try some of the 34 - 40 grainers that I have. Any suggestions on reg pressure and power settings for a good 34 grain load?@@airshootist

    My reg creeps bad in my .22 700mm Panthera. Along the way as the gun gets colder and acclimatized to the ambient temps the reg pressures kept climbing (28 F) - to the point where I won't shoot it outside in the winter months. Thks and sub'd.

    • @airshootist
      @airshootist  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      All airgun regs creep in the cold as the material shrinks. My Pantheras have been the best cold weather guns I've ever had, however the one I use outside in the cold mostly is a .30 with the reg set at 175 which I feel like makes it harder to creep with all that force on it. If your reg is creeping in room temp, what you can do is buy some 3M polishing paper (amzn.to/3IHfAwk) and start with the 1200 grit and go up to 8000 on the black delrin seal on your reg piston. You want to do this in a swirling manner and make sure not to polish it lopsided. I do this to all my regs and have great results.

      @ I really appreciate the work Ernest does, however I believe that the videos that you produce are better and show more detail. If you recall, I got into trouble with the hammer adjustment, macro and micro settings with parts of flying all over and being lost because Ernest, in my opinion, Ernest did not show enough detail on how to replace the axle and what to be very careful about because it cost me more than $500 to finally resolve the problem of those parts flying all over the place and having to get replacements and finding somebody who would do it for me as opposed to me doing it again because that particular part is very tricky and your videos usually show the appropriate amount of detail to prevent disasters like I had. So if you do a hammer change video, I’m sure it will show more detail than Ernest did. Although as I said, Ernest produces some exceptional quality videos, but many times he doesn’t show enough detail, and in my opinion, at least for me moves along too fast
