I’m 5’9” and I ride a Diverge STR in size 56 and it’s too big for me and I can’t get comfortable no matter what I do. I changed the chain ring from a 40 to a 46 and it’s faster on the road where I do 99 percent of my riding. I think I will sell and get a Roubaix in size 52 or 54. Great review.
I just bought a Crux comp today. Can’t wait to ride it. I ride flat smooth gravel here which is not technical and usually under 50 miles per ride. If I had terrain like yours, or going a lot longer, I definitely would get the Diverge. As far as tires go, I run the Ride now TPU’s on a Pathfinder 42 pro tire at 28 psi….butter. I think that or running tubeless on your Crux would make a world of difference
Seeing your points of view. Had a 2019 Diverge - great bike! Currently own a 2024 Crux. It was easy to sell the Diverge without hesitation. I did test ride the Diverge STR and it was damn supple.
@@2_Pedals I would have bought the STR but wanted a more traditional bike. I replaced the FS twice on the Diverge. The Crux is such a great bike. Maybe one day throw a Rudy fork on it. ;)
I have a diverge. I want a new one that is basically the same, but has udh, with a mullet using the new sram stuff, and the sram red brakes (not the sram red explore drivetrain, which doesn't have the gear range I want).
Like you I have both the Crux and Diverge and agree with most of your comments. The Crux can be a lot smoother on gravel if you drop your tire pressures from 50 to 30psi. You probably won't hurt the carbon rims. Tires also make a big difference. After 6,000 miles on the Crux I needed to replace the tires and the 38mm were all sold out, so I replaced with the PF 42mm which measure 44mm. The wider tires made a big difference on the gravel. If your riding 40% road and 60% gravel go with the 42mm tires, at 50/50 I would stick with the 38mm. As for the sizing the Crux has a lot longer stem which makes it feel larger. Try swapping the stems to see if the Diverge feels the right size.
Awesome thanks for the feedback, love it! Yes after these 38s are worn out on my Crux I am definitely moving to at least 42s or larger. Will let you know how it goes.
Agree, your pressure are way higher than what I am riding on my Crux. I've gone from 38s to 42s to 45s on my Crux. I'm a bigger guy (195ish) and I run high 30s for pressure and seek out singletrack on my Crux. I have two sets of carbon wheels for my Crux. One has over 10k miles (was on a previous bike) and zero damage. Never even had to true them.
The Crux is a great bike I love it however it works for a very specific terrain anything rougher or longer days in pure gravel I would lean towards the Diverge. It really depends on your daily riding.
Thank you Sponsor!!!
Of course, if the sponsor is happy I can keep doing this 🤣
Nice, thanks for the video. Been looking at both
Thanks love the feedback! Both are awesome bikes can't go wrong with either.

I’m 5’9 and I use size 52 Diverge STR. Fit is alright, 54 would’ve been perfect, 56 would be too big for someone 5’9 like us.

Nice, can't go wrong with the Crux its a fun bike! 28 PSI though, thats brave I only run that on my 2.5 MTB tires.

Ya the STR is the next bike I want to try. For me it seems like to much but a lot of people really like it.

Ya UDH is the main bummer that is missing on my two bikes need to make this a priority going forward.

😢 you almost talked me out of the Crux.

Anything for you to keep your sponsor… 😂
Gotta keep the boss happy. 😆
