      What are the wattage ratings on these capacitor or resistors values? For example, 1 kohm-1Watt at OBRG banded. Nice drawers BTW!

    Having them sorted is so important. I actually did my resistor groupings by base value. Eg. 4.7, 47, 470, 4.7K, 47K, 470K, 4.7M, 47M are all in one drawer.

    What types of resistors should I avoid, and why? And thanks a lot, I love your channel! I’ve learned way more about making pedals from you than any other single source of info.

    Great video. Thanks for the good advice. I have decided to start building quite a few more pedals and hopefully get my young son interested in the builds too. (He has perfect pitch and comes in quite handy when dialling in caps n resistors hehe). We have found your products to be good quality and your instructions and guide videos, second to none. It's usually a pain trying to figure out what to order next for stock (especially between, needing, wanting and wishing), so I'm looking forward to your next video in this series.
    P.S. I blame you for my new addiction to those 9mm Alpha pots.

      +ssorc werdna Awesome, thanks Ssorc! Im looking forward to when my son gets to an age where a soldering iron can be used more for a tool then a weapon. Don't worry I get blamed for a lot of pedal related addiction :)

    Thank you so much for this. Question: I've always been curious as to what quality to buy. I've asked around and have found no answers from anyone as of yet. Would, say, $2-3 Mundorf resistors be worth it? Audience caps costing $50 a pop? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

      Even cheapo resistors and capacitors are good if they are the the right value

      Can you tell about all capacitor i mean why u use polyproplene or film capacitor more than ceramic?
      Will there be any pro and consabour ceramic capacitor?
      Plz tell about indeApth
      Thankyou :)

    Is there a drastic change between metal film and carbon film resistors? I know its about the tolerance but, is it really worth the pay the difference and get blue ones?

  • @Beatleman91
    @Beatleman91 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    About the capacitors... I know the ceramic once are not the "audio" type capacitors, but for lower range capacity, like less than 10n(103), it's hard to come around the film ones. So my question is it worth bother searching and buying the film capacitors of the value less than 10n or is it ok to use ceramics for those?

      I have the same question but regarding box caps vs multi-layer or ceramic - can these be interchanged. I've heard that "A cap is a cap, is a cap" and the difference is only really noticeable if you're a perfectionist. In the process of making a mid-boost pedal and using ceramics in place of anything else. Will be interesting!

      That's a great question. With all the talk about current flow and capacitor values and the like, I'm not sure how they affect the sound. For instance, what is the difference between components used for a chorus pedal vs. those used for a fuzz?

    what about capacitors Volts??? what is the best to use or stock?

    • @bassreaper7779
      @bassreaper7779 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Generally for caps you want to get as close as you can to double the voltage of the circuit. Since most guitar pedals run on 9 V, you wouldn't want to a capacitor lower than 16 volts. You can also use a higher voltage capacitor so long as it will fit in the pedal.

  • @gstube1

    I'm amazed nobody like Tayda has made up a good pedal building oriented starter pack of components, like they have basic resistor and capacitor packs etc.

    Sir, I'm looking to change an orange drop 104 cap (100n) for an electrolitic or film cap to upgrade a clean boost would you recomend to change the value? I look for more clarity and better sweep so I thought of a .22 or .47 is that ok, will my pedal still work? Which one would you recomend ?

    Hello there. Anyone know if could I replace 1x 50pF Ceramic Disc Capacitor for a 47pF or 50pF? I'm trying to build a TS9 clone that requires 1x 50pF one. Thanks in advance.
