"unless you love, your life will flash by", i can tell you someone who has had periods where my life was about work, hobbies, family, and more, it was only when I loved that those memories had lasting impact. The rest is just a means to live and survive and fulfill our soul, but loving others is the real divinity in this life.
also when jack is capriciously flabbergasted in front of the boarding school. the extended cut is so gnarly, i pray Terry makes more of them. the guy's a mad genius.
Malick reuses the same music here (the "Domine Jesu Christe" from Berlioz's "Requiem") that he used in the lead up to the asteroid striking earth. An interesting connection.
