What a coincidence. I found an old Baikal Model 46(1998 mfr date) plus a Diana 6G on CL . When I met the seller he also included a Diana 24 rifle that he forgot he had. They are all in perfect condition and shoot great. I got the 3 guns for $400. I am absolutely thrilled !!

Nibs,There was accessories too....A RWS Red-dot pistol scope,RWS pistol scope mount and muzzle brake, B-SQUARE dovetail to Weaver base with rings,Berman quick cleaning pellets and 2 tins of R-10 match pellets.... whew. After I sell this stuff on eBay plus the 24 rifle. The pistols may be free...or close to it.

I have enjoyed watching your videos. Have you considered doing a bench rest comparison?

The original design was patented by Kurt Giss in 1956. 😉

Good shooting. Wonder how much difference in fps there is with the heavier pellets than lighter. I seem to hit higher with the heavies. Probably just me compensating by aiming slightly higher thinking it will hit lower but does the opposite. Can't blame it on wind inside. 😆

The pellets are wrong in both pistols but there starting to look OK.

That's a mighty good showin for the Mod. 6. A 46M is a fine pistol. 😉 I'm wondering if you can drill an acrylic sight insert for the front ? Seems simple enough. 🤷🏼‍♂️ That'll open up that front sight picture. 😉

Hey, Nibs... If you can't fabricate an acrylic insert, just email me the ID of the hoop and I'll take a crack at it. It takes a significantly tapered bit like a Fuller twist to drill the center aperture. 😉

Thanks Marc. Haven’t had a chance to look into that yet. I might take you up on the offer though!

This might seem a stupid question but how do you zero in a new pistol?
I find it takes several 10 shot cards with small adjustments to get the pistol consistently hitting the centre of the target. I shoot the first couple two-handed and then switch to single handed standing match shooting. I put each card into a free scoring app which then indicates the average deviation from the centre giving me an idea which way to adjust the sights. It only takes a few cycles and you can be confident that your good shots are hitting dead centre.

I do the sighting with the same hold that I'm about use for shooting the gun in the future. Especially If the gun recoils, the hold may have a huge impact to the POI.
I shoot a group of 5 - 10 shots. Then I use a trick that was taught in the Army. I take the target and draw a horizontal line in a way that half of the impacts are above it and half below. Then I draw a vertical line, half of the impacts left and half right. The crossing of the lines is the average POI.
If I have the info of how much a "click" of the adjustment screws moves the POI, I use that. If I don't, I calculate the required adjustments in 1/10s of a millimeter using the sight radius, shooting distance, and the horizontal and vertical distance of the POI and and the center of the target. I make the adjustments, with a help of a vernier caliper if needed, and the second group should be very near where I want it, if not spot on. Rinse and repeat, but it is rare that I need more than three groups.

I have both of those, the Diana is a toy compared to the Baikal, the trigger is not even in the same league. Your accuracy test is 100% bogus as well. Baikal is a one hole at 10 meters gun. Your skills put you in the plinker category, not well suited for doing accuracy tests.
