    Was given a 717 20 years ago. Works great for me!

    Good Video. In my experience the IZH-46 is a more refined pistol with notably better trigger, balance and sights. Still, at 3 times the cost of the daisy 717 is should be. That said, we had a guy in our 10M air pistol league who shot consistently in the 190's ( of 200) with a Daisy 747 every week. The daisy line is a great choice for a beginner or someone not convinced they are ready to drop $600-$1600 or a match grade pistol. I shoot a Styer LP1 CO2 match pistol but still keep a Daisy 747 for back-up or to loan to friends just starting out.

    Great video!
    I've been looking at the 46M, and your video reminded me that I have a target gun in storage. It turned out to be a 717.
    I need to set up a range in the house and get some of those 50 yd rifle targets.

    The shooting comparison is ok, but in terms of engineering, quality materials and workmanship the Baikal will retain a high value over time.

    The problem is that's a 50 ft rifle target you should have been using a 10 meter pistol Target with your shake you should use a star bench rest

      Have you tried the izh 46m or the fwb 103? How do they compare accuracy wise if you have shot them? Thanks

    A fair comparison with been an image rest it would compare the guns not your shake

    You obviously still derive a great deal of enjoyment from vintage precision pistols and are occasionally challenged by weather, Nibs... 🤔
    Might I recommend a Hammerli Master ? 😉 An extremely fine precision .177 Co2 Vintage Olympic Match Pistol ! 😎👍 Resealing is fine but try to find yourself a well cared for specimen. 😉 Best with the wood grips. Virtually impossible to regret the investment. 😊 Light, Insanely Accurate, Very Easy handling and loading drill. Just a joy to shoot.

    I've shot the 7/17 with the the Walter Barrel it's capable of a 10-rain group at 3 10 m you should shoot it from a rest then compare it to the other guns you were showing it the service

    ...I would compete with myself using a Daisy 747 against a Beeman P17 at 10 yards.....The Daisy usually edged out the Beeman, but the Beeman took down a lot of rats with head shots from my kitchen window, the Daisy not being suitable for pest control even at very close range.....The 747 has an adjustable trigger and Lothar Walther barrel, but I don't know if the 717's trigger is adjustable....Great fun to compete with yourself though, I did the same with my two first variant Crosman 38Ts...They were always even, but .22 is not a good target caliber, making the scoring more difficult to assess.......

  • @johngraves3170
    @johngraves3170 ปีที่แล้ว

    The daisy is by far the best air pistol on the market at an entry level it will compete against pistols of twice its price it has a Walther Barrel fully adjustable site start with it and if you can out shoot the gun then move up

    Wear wrist weights for three weeks and try triggering with your middle finger. Habits from lugging around my Contender 357 maxximum bull barrel for deer season that seemed to work out well for match shooting. 🤷🏼‍♂️

    • @marcmyers1465

      @@WalnutandSteel Yes... But the wrist weights train muscle (memory) to over compensate for fatigue. Strength itself is not the issue. It's the ergonomic mechanics of motion. It's what separates human dexterity from our stronger simian cousins. They can lift a car, but we can play a piano. It's about the fine motor control and what occasionally causes us to twitch or pull a shot. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Same for using the middle finger to trigger. Using a different finger forces the process into a defined conscious effort whereas we continuously used our index finger for everything all day long, allowing our brain to trigger reflexively. You removing reflex and insinuating deliberate thought into the process.
      Sorry, I was a rated shooter in my time, but alas No More. 😔 Those that can no longer Do... Teach. 🤷🏼‍♂️

    The Daisy has windage and elevation adjustments they just need to shoot her to recognize that and adjust them accordingly

    Dude I don't want to hurt your feelings but the Daisy has a Walther Barrel one of the best barrels you can have use a bench rest your shake is enormous at the end of the barrel the videos reveal that

    Do you find the Meisterkugeln pellets to be more accurate than the Daisy flat nose pellets?

    • @WalnutandSteel
      @WalnutandSteel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are a little more consistent in some guns. But the daisy pellets are very good

    How is the accuracy at like 30 metres, from the rested position, with the baikal?

  • @billdye3530
    @billdye3530 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good shooting. Think the Daisy could be a mid 30s or better shooter. About half a pound lighter in weight than the Baikal maybe?

      @@WalnutandSteel Allergy meds can affect a lot - vision , coordination etc. Since my AFib issue has me taken different meds & dropping some I have to be careful on allergy meds. Either the BP drops or raises causing the Covid Quivers to get worse & I can't hit a barn door. Or yesterday missed blackbirds raiding my suet feeder for woodpeckers & small birds. Irritating to miss.
