So great to see you are back! If u are planning to make more Videos i just want to suggest some interesting topics (at least for me:)), which i would love to hear your thoughts about. Did you have Problems to overcome the high D barrier that so many people have? I heard K.O. talking about it but he didnt explain how he managed to get it. Bryan Davis has an interesting concept of a "falsetto" kind of playing. Do you have a similar approach? However thank you again for sharing your knowledge with us !
Trumpeteer2000 I was in braces forthree out of my four high school years. I finally got them off as a senior and discovered I had a high F. Things about this were a bit of a mystery for a while. I finally figured out that they took an amazing amount of focus control to produce G and above. Somewhere in the early 1980s I was describing those notes as falsetto. Of course I was a young kid what the heck did I know. The high D barrier has a lot to do with jaw position. If you have a relatively good sized overbite this puts you at a disadvantage. A very dear friend of mine has this issue and has been working on it his whole life. He’s made some very interesting discoveries and through conversations with him I will try to get information on video of his discoveries and insights. Best, Jon

If I’m playing a lot of salsa gigs my endurance is up but when I take breaks it goes away. Of course! But on those breaks how do I keep my endurance up? In practice I’m obviously not going to practice a salsa set with breaks and solos and such. Playing gigs and practicing seems so different
Quin Wallace This is a common problem. It is difficult to practice as we perform. My recommendation is to do several sessions a day if possible. I would play throughout my entire register several different times a day again if possible. We have to practice in a manner that helps us prepare for the gig. At times this is challenging but it means that we need to do some type of range study or challenge our register every day. I do advocate taking a day off here or there, but when you play you need to challenge yourself. I hope this helps. Best, Jon

I have a lot of struggles with my corners when playing. Every time I’m practicing high notes I try to keep my corners firm but they just explode. Air, buzzing and pieces of the fleshy inside of my lip come out and I really don’t know how to stop it. Maybe they’re not firm enough I really don’t know
Sounds like you just need to keep building strength. Try to practice those notes as quietly as possible, same goes for the entire range of the horn, but definitely for the upper range. It will help you focus your chops where they need to be.

Bugle ??
Anthony Lenzo What I am describing here is that every three valve trumpet has seven different valve combinations possible. Each of these can be thought of as a bugle in a different key. Bugles are like a trumpet but they have no valves and can only play the overtone series in one particular key. When you have a three valve trumpet you are capable of playing in seven different keys through the use of several different valve combinations.
I understand .I once a long time ago I had a bugle that I purchased at an Army & Navy store.And I could only play the overtone notes .It was sort of my first introduction to trumpet.😀
