Love this series. Seeing how many tries it takes Jonny to land these tricks with full knowledge that they can be done really makes you appreciate Rodney's persistence in inventing these tricks without the knowledge from others before him that they were in fact possible. It would be easy after 100's of unsuccessful tries to conclude they couldn't be done if not for Rodney showing us they can.
I hadn't think about this, but you're totally right. How can you know if you just haven't tried enough times or if maybe the trick is just impossible. So much respect for Rodney.
This proves how Rodney is really the God of Skateboarding. He did it 11/2 Flip to Casperslide, not to mention the casperslide 360 Flip Out.. Johnny even had a hard time landing the basic casperslide combo.
Amazing dude! Two tips - you might want to try physically melting the wax onto the concrete. And also - a quick dab of silicone spray - like tyre shine - over the wax. Helps it slide better and not judder and want to dig in, meaning you need to counter balance and be put off balance.

Can't wait for the follow up. My guess is that the longer slide makes it easier. Seemed like you had no time to adjust anything with such a short slide. Which makes it even more amazing you pulled it off. Twice by my count! Excellent!

The best part of these videos to me is that even when he lands a Rodney Mullen trick it never looks even close to as smooth and effortless as Rodney did it.
I'd totally give you that first land Jonny. You were right at the edge of the concrete, that's a lot to ask to suddenly turn 90 degrees after a trick that hard!!
I think it would be a nice addition to this series if you started using different "outfits" based of the skater you're doing a trick of. Like baggy pants and cupsole shoes for Mullen, black jeans, metal band shirt and bandana for Chris Cole and fake beard for Haslam.

I think it's this generation of young skaters that create this bullshit, skateing used to be about doing your thing and everyone got along and grew together. Skateing is not meant to be serious, and they take it way to serious and are ruining the whole idea of it imo.
I love how you're not getting angry as some of the blokes, throwing boards around and breaking them 'cause they can't flip them... The board is just wood with wheels, the rider makes it spin right or wrong. Not getting angry on the piece of wood and actually thinking about what you are doing wrong can bring a lot more improvement. Hope other people learn this from you!

Rodney Mullen is next level. He is like Pelé, the brazilian soccer player, same level. You did absolutely great and flawless, however Mullen is like a legendary skateboarder. Some day you'll reach that level too.
