I think this series is bringing all us cynical, Dad bod, grungy, 90’s skaters out of the woodwork. I never subscribe to anything, but you undeniably have tapped into the feeling of that generation. The struggle, the humour, the angles, the smile, the history, the edits, the tricks, the spirit, the clips...all of it just tickles my grumpy middle aged tummy.
Completely right. And furthermore, the older I get, the more I realize what this sport taught me for life! It´s really hard to get that feeling of community AND positive pushing competition between you and your fellow skaters again somewhere else later in life. We pushed eachother so hard when learning new tricks (especially when new videos came out and we soaked them) together and also celebrated and honoured as soon as one of us landed it. Great kind of sport with the right amount of "you on your own" and team aspects! Damn do I miss this time!
Spot on. I haven't actually been on a board in over a decade, but having spent all of grade school and high school being a hardcore skater/rodney Mullen fan I find all these pretty damn entertaining. Makes me want to pick up a board again.
So true! Shows how influential rodney mullen still is even to this day! Makes me want to grab my board again, but my frail middle-aged bones probably won't let me haha!
I grew up as a huge Rodney Mullen fan and it makes me smile like no other seeing someone in your generation take such a big interest in him and his amazing tricks
@@JordanIsBadAtGames ya but there is a big skating scene in California where rodney lives and alot of Jonny's friends live there so I assume he'll make a trip to California one day
That second stick. The angle from behind. Shows how the tension on the truck actually causes the board to flip. You just guide the direction on the release.i love that you did this series!
Please keep doing this series. Rodney did those tricks years ago, and they're still bangers. It's so entertaining watching you struggle to learn them... Keep it up!
I love that you show yourself trying anf failing then trying again and again till it happens. I grew up with skater buddies that would just naturally do stuff and id have to work 3 times as hard to do the same stuff. This is really good to show people so kids dont give up
This series is pure gold! You have somehow tapped into what, for most of us, has been our deepest place of satisfaction and greatest pleasure in enjoying our skateboarding. Subscribed. Telling folks. You are a G. Thank you.
Props Jonny. You got a great catch and bolts landing on the second one. For the Gabelstappler thing I guess he did it on "the fork of a fork-lift truck" :-)
I remember watching skating competitions on TV back in the late 90'ies and early 00's. I never learned how to skate myself, but watching these videos feels incredibly nostalgic
Amazing!! Congrats! I love the montage, the explanation, the struggle, the perfect landing, perfecting it even more, never giving up! Keep those videos coming! :D
I am not the worlds biggest skateboarding fan, but I'm a massive fan of Rodney Mullen and what he stands for. I have tonnes of respect for you to take the time and recreate his tricks! Really enjoy the videos :).
I love this trick a lot cause make you land 3 miles away from the ledge. The way you explain the history of skateboarding and supporting that people to get and skatepark makes your pro model deck such a great deal!
I never understood how Rodney made the board flip so slow. Don't get me wrong, Jonny does it beautifully, but Rodney somehow made it look impossible to understand when you watch
You're Rodney Mullen episodes are my favorite. This was an amazing idea. You're such a Progressive skater. Thank you for your hard work and time. These video has taught me a lot. The monkey flip is gonna be fun to learn. Thank you, and I see you on the next episode. 🤘
I watched Round 2 with Daewon Song and Rodney Mullen so many times growing up and skating. Seeing you do that monkey flip is awesome. It makes me feel like those times are not gone completely, I guess. Well I know it's in the past, but this is cool. Great job!

The reaction of the kid was priceless.
Justice for John Crooked
Please when finish the Rodney's starts with John's history!!!!!! I didn't deserve this!
I legit thought it was john krooked then he said he was made up hahaha
Free John krooked!!!
Krooked grind by Koston. Had he spelled it with a K, it would’ve been more obvious.
Lmao
I grew up as a huge Rodney Mullen fan and it makes me smile like no other seeing someone in your generation take such a big interest in him and his amazing tricks
yes! he's a legend :)
Legends live we'll beyond their generations.
What about the YOYO pLant when rodney does street plant without touching his feet on the ground in FuturePrimative
Super sick love the series since Rodney Mullen was my favorite.
Oh no, primo and Casper slides are coming. Your poor shins and heels
His poor butt aswell from the amount of times hes gonna slip out of primo
Forklift is the vehicle you were referring to with the Rodney angle
thank you for educating me :)
Pleeeeaaaaase do video with rodney if he did a video with physics girl i'm sure he would do one with you
Nathan Hohenshelt unfortunately he lives on the other side of the world
@@JordanIsBadAtGames ya but there is a big skating scene in California where rodney lives and alot of Jonny's friends live there so I assume he'll make a trip to California one day
Nathan Hohenshelt true
It would be the most epic collab of the millennium

So clean, so beautiful! LOVE this series
Props Jonny. You got a great catch and bolts landing on the second one. For the Gabelstappler thing I guess he did it on "the fork of a fork-lift truck" :-)

:)
I don't even skate and it's pretty chill to watch you land impossible tricks. You're very humble dude. Love from Colombia.
Amazing!! Congrats! I love the montage, the explanation, the struggle, the perfect landing, perfecting it even more, never giving up! Keep those videos coming! :D

That was ludicrous Jonny! Amazing to watch! The second was flawless!!!
Keep bringin the heat. Nice job Jonny.
The second land was beautiful! 👍👍 awesome to have people supporting skateboarding around the world, keep killin Jonny!
i believe that the best thing about this series is the persistency to get it right and the curiosity to fully understand how is it really made
Keep this series up. You are upping your skate skills, editing and community, watching this kind of progress is awesome
I never understood how Rodney made the board flip so slow. Don't get me wrong, Jonny does it beautifully, but Rodney somehow made it look impossible to understand when you watch
@4:30 it looked like a Krooked Nose Slide. I call it an “Owen Wilson” lol
Owen wilson actually skates too
Beast. Love the series. And the energy.

This trick came out SO sick!! Nice Jonny
Jonny, this series is brilliant!
your amazing jonny, great stuff
U should do a vid with Rodney man, when u come to the states im sure hel say yes
Eh, Rodney hates being filmed when he skates now. He likes to do his own thing.
👌
really? i didn't know that. but still, he should meet up with Rodney. i'm sure Revive can make it happen.
Makes sense, he's probably on a level of 'fed up/over it' that we can't even imagine :D
I think it's more of a 'not comfortable with the pressure to perform/body is getting old so can't do all the same tricks' thing.
this is epic series, only watching this for history lessons :D
Stomped it! Nice work Jonny!!👏🏼
Thanks TH-cam for randomly suggesting this. Amazing channel dude keep up the awesome work.
You grind out these insane tricks and land them perfectly. Plus the philanthropy... looovvveee the channel, man! GREAT stuff👍
