Noise difference from old diesel engine to new electric motor on a 8.9M (29') catamaran
The diesel was a twin cylinder 10hp , replacement electric motor is 5kW BLDC water cooled golden motor, which has equalled the performance of the original diesel. The same propeller and drive was used.

You should get a decibel meter for these tests to make them objective.

That poor diesel was wound out at 6.7kts, how fast was the 5kW motor pushing it?
