    Really enjoyed this - had never heard of Sian but will definitely by picking up her books. These videos are almost perfect but I think a few images over the top of the interview would work well. I had to stop the interview and google her work before coming back so I could get a sense of what I was listening to.

      I do that for all of these interviews .... maybe 5 or 6 images would help give us context.

    Very interesting. All (well, most) of the videos lack a closeup on Martin, the lack of which somehow for me makes him a slightly remote figure. The focus is on the guest, of course, but it is a conversation.
    Apart from this observation, these videos are a fantastic body of work. Thanks.

      Thanks for your feedback ghl. We normally film with two cameras and a focus on the guest but will consider bringing in another angle in future so we are able to see some more of Martin's reactions. Thanks for watching and we really appreciate hearing from our viewers as the channel gains popularity you can really help us improve the viewing.

    These are so great, so glad to stumbled upon these conversations. A thought... seems like a perfect format for a podcast.

      Hi Jake, thanks for commenting. Yes you are right they would make great podcasts! This may be something we look into in the future when there is a big enough catalogue to be able to regularly release new podcast episodes. Thanks for your suggestion.

      @@MartinParrFDN: I'd like to jump in with the following suggestions: Peter Fraser, Paul Graham, Chris Killip, Richard Billingham, Sarah Pickering, Fergus Heron, Chris Harrison, Jonathan Olley, Hans van der Meer, and Charlie Phillips. Hope most of them would be up for being interviewed.

      Thanks for commenting Monty. Great suggestions! Keep checking back as we have already filmed at least one of your suggestions and it is on the way 📺

      @@MartinParrFDN: Brilliant, can't wait to see who you have already interviewed - I'll keep my eyes peeled. Can I please ask that the edited videos are at least 25-30 mins long; the conversation develops in a much more natural way when the interviews last that sort of duration.

    • @MontyCantsin5
      @MontyCantsin5 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MartinParrFDN: P.S. If you can entice any American and Canadian photographers such as Eggleston, Wall, Witkin, Klein, Sternfeld, Polidori, Meyerowitz, Serrano, Goldin, Burtynski, Shore, Soth, Gilden, etc. that would be amazing. Thought I'd stick with mainly British documentary photographers as initial suggestions though.

    Excellent insight, particularly the mention of the pre/non-verbal relationship. I very much like the lack of editing in this series too, seeing Siân's thought process was just as fascinating as what she said. As you're asking for photographer suggestions, Chris Killip is a must!

      One of the aims of the Foundation is to promote the work of photographers that members of the public may not yet be familiar with, so it is really great that you have discovered her work through our series

    What an open and sympathetic talk about her work! Without any jargon, just great questions and Mrs. Daveys unedited thoughtful answers. Looking forward to more interviews!

    What's interesting to me is that Parr is able to get in deeply with photographers who do not share his subject matter, style, outlook, or purpose. I'd love to see him talk to other curveball subjects: Wim Wenders, John Stezaker, James Mollison, Gunnar Smoliansky, Barbara Crane.

      Thanks for the suggestion Daniel. Is there anyone else you would be interested in hearing from? At the moment Covid-19 is limiting who we can interview but stay tuned as there are some new interviews with photographers coming very soon.

    These sofa conversations are IMMENSELY interesting and educational BUT why there are never any photographs included to illustrate the narration?

    • @MartinParrFDN
      @MartinParrFDN  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi @ Uranus Phobos, we keep the showing of images to a minimum in the actual film and allow people to view the links below and look at the images at their own pace. You will find that some of the films have images included, for example when it is not easy to view their images online.
