Pro Trad Tip - How To Place Nuts With Neil Gresham | Climbing Daily Ep.1935 - กีฬา
It's nice to see an experienced professional who still racks their quickdraws with opposing gates. I rack mine this way because I truly believe that it makes them look a lot cooler.
I started only with nuts, and then bought some cams. Needless to say, I often look for nut placements, and go for cams only when needed
Saved me a comment there mate...
Ditto.
Uff good to know, next week gonna try my first trad route and I bought just nuts haha
Same
Yeah. Nothing beats a great nut placement.
Brilliant video. More of these from Neil, please!
If you search Neil Gresham masterclass on yt there’s lots of his old school vids about every climbing thing you can think of

Such a humble dude.
Nice, clear & concise instruction there. I predict big things from this Neil fella.........
Neil Gresham is brilliant. I had his dvd from like 15 years ago, pre videos being on TH-cam, and it taught me everything I needed to start climbing
A very nice, effective presentation that all would-be instructors could benefit from studying.
I absolutely hate the feeling I get being above small cams. Nothing better than the feeling of a bomber nut placement.
I noticed the krab gates on the quickdraw were opposite facing, any reason for this?
Opposing gates, scary... :X
But in topic of nut placement, pretty clear video!
Cheers.
Why? Please explain
@@parker97boy the carabiners on a QuickDraw should face the same direction - ie gates on the same side.
Otherwise you risk unclipping your quickdraw.
Hello, for a while I‘ve been discussing with a friend wether or not it is a good idea to place a nut sideways. Like in a hole where you can slide the nut in from one side and it tucks in by being pulled away from the wall. In case of a fall the wire would bend over the ledge of the hole which of course shouldn’t be to sharp. What does the community here think?
If you've not figured it out yet, these are often great placements because the nut will naturally cam into position when weighted making it super secure. You don't need to worry about your wire bending on the edge, you can just straighten it out after.
Never had a nut blow on a whip. I had a cam blow and the nut caught me.
Just wait.... climb safe have fun!
Trying not to make a nut joke in a nut placing video must be hard
Jacket model name?
How do you get them back
Use a nut key!
Looking at the title, I thought it is tips for the traditional St Nicholas Day tradition of hiding nuts in socks or shoes!
There's no advice here about having an egg box for a head. Very poor from Noel Greenham.
What?
@@WakeRunSleep You had to be there
I spent a long time "on nuts"...hexes, then off-set hexes, then wedges, then stoppers n rocks n god knows what...bits n bobs of ALL shapes. It was all cash related...no body had 'sets' except for micros...we all had 5 micros on 1 crab...stylin'!
Then that damned american brought out 'friends'...took me years to buy 3, but,I still routinely used my old pals, "friends" were for desperation times only...your "get out of jail" cards...
I see kids now ladened down with cams, first thought "where the fuck do they get the cash"?
Second thought is "can they place properly"?
Hope so...
why are you talking of draw in this video ???? i expected a video only about nut placement ! nut placement .... not racking or draws !
