    As someone on the inside I’ll suggest pre check. Clear is expensive and not worth it. Clear precheck is super expensive and it does help but it’s $189 for a year while precheck is 85 for 5 years. If you fly all the time you’ll know 90% of the time the precheck line is very very short. I suggest if you do find long precheck lines go to the checkpoint that has mostly international flights and you’ll get through precheck within minutes. And you didn’t hear this from me but clear is supposed to be becoming apart of precheck but I have no idea what that’s gonna look like.

      They’re going to start using facial recognition scanning in precheck. It’s already being used in 3 states.

    Getting TSA pre-check was very easy. The interview was done at a local STAPLES office supplies store. Very quick interview and electronic fingerprints. Approved in a couple days. VERY glad I heard about this.

    Would like to mention CLEAR and TSA Pre-Check can work together. Having both will allow you to really breeze through checkpoints and TSA.

      This is what I do. I have both CLEAR and TSA Pre-Check. Skip the line and skip the body scans etc. Just signed up for Global Entry as well.

      Yes! I find they work best together in most cases. Some times I'll skip CLEAR if the line isn't too long tho

    I got the green card from AMEX to pay for Clear. Then I got the united explorer card to pay for TSA pre-check then both cards get credited I really enjoy the programs makes going through security easier without having to remove shoes.

    global entry includes tsa pre check, so if you travel out of the country, it’s well worth it.

  • @similienr
    @similienr 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I'm an international traveler. Global entry is a must.
    I only travel one or twice a year. So Clear is a big no for me for that price.

    • @TravelwithGuy
      @TravelwithGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally makes sense to me. CLEAR is a luxury purchase for sure.

    • @onthef698
      @onthef698 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Fun fact: Global entry does not guarantee you precheck at every airport. For example at SFO global entry means absolutely nothing.

    Great video!
    Question - I have the AE Platinum card. It’s worth it to me because I travel a lot and love the lounge access and other benefits. I’m big on airport lounges. Looking to get one more credit card with free lounge access. I’m over the 5/24 with Chase. You recommend the Citi/AAdvantage Executive World Elite MasterCard for the Admirals club or Delta Skymiles Reserve for the Delta SkyClub access? I’m all about the lounges and rewards/mile points.

    • @TravelwithGuy
      @TravelwithGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Duncan, I appreciate the comment! I feel you on the lounge access, its an awesome reward. Since you're already over 5/24 I can assume you already have a range of other card benefits.
      You main airport should be the main factor. If you're close to a Delta hub, go with that card. Same thing with American. Assuming you're at a hub for both (like NYC) then I recommend the Delta Card.
      I would recommend the Delta/Amex card > Citi/American because you'll have access to both the Delta lounges AND the Amex Lounges. The Amex lounge is a huge benefit IMO if you're near an airport that you can leverage that benefit fairly often. Also, the Annual Companion Certificate is a nice extra bonus.
      Hope that helps!

    • @DuncanIII1973
      @DuncanIII1973 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This definitely helps. Great info provided, thank you. Yes at Chicago O’Hare, it’s a hub for both Delta Sky Club and Admiral. I have the AE Platinum card. I know that gets my in the Delta Sky Club when I fly Delta already, but it’s also my selected airline for the AE platinum card.

    If I want to get just get to the airport and breeze through security and lines... Which one should I do?

    • @TravelwithGuy
      @TravelwithGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you want to get past security the absolute fastest, you'd want to get both as they help with different things. CLEAR let's you use the shortest line and TSA is normally a shorter line and allows you to keep your clothes on and your bags packed, which can save alot of time IMO

    • @iliketurtles536
      @iliketurtles536 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TravelwithGuy can you use clear to get to TSA precheck line?

    • @TravelwithGuy
      @TravelwithGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes - First you'll go into a CLEAR line, and from there, they will bring you to the TSA Precheck line (if you have that on your boarding pass) or they will bring you to the regular line if you don't have precheck.

  • @clintonstumpf5210
    @clintonstumpf5210 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Clear is a separate security checkpoint than TSA Precheck. Having Amex Platinum since 2015, the lounge access has increasingly become worthless with overcrowding. Plus, the food and drinks is hardly worth it. The quite environment is nice.

      I just ate a delicious dinner at Centurion lounge in Dallas, I was blown away by quality of food. I had a stop in Charlotte and the centurion food there was gross so I guess it depends on lounge.
