A great video Dave. Looks to be a brilliant ride along Hadrians wall. I am also thinking of doing rides out into the peak district and using tgr train to get home. Keep them pedals turning 👍🚴♂️
A quick check with G-maps - up next the wall. I attached my camera to an extension bar from the handlebars which I'm now wanting to swap out to Butterfly bars - I bought 3 years back but had meant to fit to another bike. Funny, I thought the centre of Britain was just up the road from me near Waddington, Lancs. I have done a few miles locally but really need to clock up some serious mileage. The hills hurt now and I'm off walking with it than gear bashing. Happy trails.
Great vid Dave. Took me back to my old stomping ground in the late 80's when I served at RAF Spadeadam. Used to live in Gilsland (Hadrians Mount - the white house on the right as you went over the bridge). Sorry to see the pub has closed, used to have some fantastic nights in there - Arnie the Landlord was an ex WO1 in one of the old border regiments, great guy, used to pile 6 or 7 of us in his Jag and take us back up to camp at 3 in the morning after a mega lock in! Can't believe its over 30 years ago. ATVB Dave.
I did Silloth to Tynemouth (and back home again) last year for my first ever bikepacking trip, it's a great route. I live about halfway along it so had the luxury of my own bed on one of the nights, but I did it slowly over 4 days and wildcamped the other nights. Now I just need to figure out where to go this year! Your channel is helping a bit with some inspiration, as I still don't want to be too far from home. Have you tried going North much? I fancy heading into Wark and Kielder Forests for some bothy trips as I used to hike to them all back when I was a fitter man. All the best
Thanks it’s great when you can BikePack and be in your own bed for one of the nights, I have cycled the cross border route from kershope to kielder many years ago but hoping to do the rievers route which goes that way this year . But always conscious of the midge !!!! Iam on a trip next week doing the Leeds Liverpool canal 🚲⛺️👍 atb Dave
Yes, the bothy gets around the midge problem but if I camp out then I use Icaridin/Picaridin sprays. It's a lot gentler than DEET - although I have memories of my grandfather who would soak a rag in diesel and hang it around his neck, he never got bitten 😂 Travelling on foot I was always more bothered about the ticks than the midges though. I suppose we should just be thankful there's no predators to worry about in the UK. Liverpool - sounds great. I've not cycled any of the canal network yet but it's on the list. Cheers
enjoyed that dave. brought back memories of walking it.aye the land is saturated just finished drying my boots & gaiters from yesterdays hike from vindobala to whittle ponds. look forward to your stretch on my home turf 👍🚴
Glad you enjoyed it , those trips will be done when things dry out and warm up. weather has been piss poor this year bar the odd few days !! atb Dave 🚲👍
Another great video and thank you for naming the places you go through. Keep putting the letters on the screen though ! As a local but only recently, I’ve worked a couple of your routes out and I’m very grateful to you. Roll on the next one 😊
Thanks and yes I always try and name places as I go through, I do try and keep off the main roads and stick to the side roads . just need this weather to improve so I can get out more . atb Dave

Why do so many bikes these days make such a loud noise when free wheeling? Nice video by the way, enjoyed it, thank you.
It’s a hope rear hub 😂 , does a great job of alerting people of your arrival l . TFW atb Dave 🚲👍
I was intrested in where you centred Britain?
I was pleased to find out it was Haltwhistle.
So not Cambridge as some might think ?
Yes Haltwhistle seem to have claimed that title 👍
Great route Dave. Crappy weather though. Any chance of putting the gpx route. I fancy it.
Yeah no prob I will do it later ,but I got the train home 🚲👍
Thanks Dave.
I can’t seem to upload the gpx file as it just show about a million letters ?
So here’s the Komoot link

@davesolobiker5601 Cheers Dave, that's great I've got Komoot on my Garmin. Thanks again Dave. Safe riding. 🖕
It’s claimed both haltwhistle & dunsop bridge are the centre of Britain? Much confused
Yeah I’ve heard their were others 😂😂
@@davesolobiker5601 yeah I think one of them is centre of Britain and the other could be centre of uk sounds plausible
