This makes me so sad, we lived here when I was a boy, from 1972 to 74, by the time of the war, we had moved to the Army Camp just outside Famagusta and I remember standing at the end of the street watching the Turkish planes bomb Famagusta only 4 miles away, and the columns of black smoke, an exciting adventure it seemed as an 11 year old boy, but our old Greek friends and neighbours lost everything

Its always boggled my mind how man draws a line in the Sand and says " this is mine now, Don't stop on the dirt.."
Hopefully the UN will actually do their job and help get this place back.

Nothing to do with the UN,infact the UN is the problem in Cyprus,by the way I was with the UN in 74 and have lived here for over 20years,get rid of the UN and we will have a settlement.

The Turkish have ruined north-east Cyprus, Famagusta used to be the envy of the world when it came to beach resort towns it rivaled places in the Caribbean, Australia, the Pacific,Asia. I have friends who are Greek and Turkish who think the Cyprus issue has gone to far, personally I think the Greeks have done a far better job of looking after Cyprus then the Turkish have.

Maybe you need to go to the karpaz peninsula and see the five star hotels that have been built there they are amazing. Or the new hotels and resorts in kyrenia. We went there two years ago and would have gone back last year but couldn't because of covid. Everyone is sooo friendly.

Nice video! I really wanted to see some footage of Famagusta. Thank you. I have a question! How did you record it? I saw a Netflix show where a guy traveled to Cyprus and couldn't get inside the city. The guards didn't let him.

As soon as the borders open, we will try to explore varosha. But cyprus is full of abandoned villages who are free to explore.
Some time ago we was in a huge mine shaft and explored it (you can find a video of the inside of the mine shaft on our channel). So cyprus is full of amazing abandoned stuff.

if the town was sealed off then how come so many things like shops and buildings are empty even the doorframes and windows are smashed....and yet no one has been allowed in there. I also see an abandoned van around the 6.26 mark...

What happened in this town, why is it still sectioned off? is it due to the location and someone would profit substantially so noone can have it, or is it something more deeper?

Cyprus is lovely and the story is sad about this part of the land. However it is a brilliant tourist attraction and must make a lot by being just this. Even though you are not allowed in and have to respect the boundaries.

Man, this is extremely sad, the ordinary Cypriots of Greek and Turkish must get to gather and resolve this issue immediately and should never listen to paid politician.
Come on stop with the blame and get to gather and get alone, I'm sure you will stand to reap huge benefits in every level.

Cyprus is a victim of it's geographical location, near the Middle East, gateway to Europe and Asia. Perfect for the military superpowars of the West. Unfortunately, the problems of Cyprus have been caused by outside influences, and not internal between Greek and Turkish Cypriots - they were just used as an excuse . Divide and rule

    • @terryyakky662

@@panostheodoulou1166 nice to hear a Greek Cypriot speak some sense. I have always said that the British divide and rule as they have done in Sri Lanka Kenya India and Cyprus. Turks and Greeks lived peacefully under the ottomans but give Cyprus to the British and all of a sudden the two communities start fighting each other. Britain stoked the fire and unfortunately the Cypriots fell for it. Would be nice to negotiate a solution and tell the British to remove their bases then we would see the nasty side of them.

  • @chrisefthymiou8826

their is a mixed village in the south in Cyprus pela where Turkish and Greek Cypriots coexist and live in peace
why not Famagusta which was the jewel of the Mediterranean. many Cypriots turk and Greek want to reopen this ghost town but turkey USA and Britain want division for their own interests and friends in the region. eventually it will be all Turkish and the Cypriots will again will suffer the final indignation of having their island stolen and taken from them. so much for democracy justice and the rule of law. the united nations the western powers speak with forked tongues. turkey sweeps the board and a divided island suits the policies of the autocrats and despots.

Because the Cypriot people fled for their lives when Turkey invaded this beautiful island. They have never returned since and the Turks have put up signs saying 'Forbidden Zone'.
