Glad to see Michigan as high as 2 after all they are losing. Hope you are right. If Ohio doesn’t win Big10 this year - will be interesting to see what happens in Columbus. Better stated if they should lose #4 to Michigan in Columbus that will even be worse.
I don’t know enough about them to say one way or another but with them losing a coach this long after the season has ended I’d almost say they are overvalued now.
I'm not sure about Iowa being tier 3, but I can see how that case could be made. They seem very 1 dimensional and they have been playing in the easy side of the conference. I'm not sure how things will go for them moving forward
Even with the possibility of Chip Kelly leaving UCLA I don't think that Purdue or Minnesota have been better programs over the last 3 years or currently are better progams than UCLA. Both Purdue and Minnesota have benefited greatly from being in the B1G west and I think their overall records are going to take a hit with the addition of the PAC-12 teams along with not being able to hide behind divisions to avoid playing the B1G's three headed monster of Michigan, OSU, PSU. Minnesota seems to be regressing after PJ Fleck initially was able to breath new life into the program and Purdue lossing Jeff Brohm I think is a much bigger blow to their program than UCLA lossing Chip Kelly.
Maryland will finish above Iowa for the reasons that you mentioned, no longer pinned against the dominant east.. and UW will still beat USC and finish in the 5 spot.. possibly even the 4 spot if Penn St doesn’t find a passing offense.. don’t be shocked if they beat Michigan in the rematch too! Realistically the top 3 in the B1G could be OSU, Oregon, UW
usc always gets ranked so high and at the end of the season youd ask yourself why they keep ranking this team so high , id put them at a solid number 7 or 8 and im a west coast fan
Based on everything said about Michigan on this show recently, they should be in tier2 with Penn State. They’ve lost key coaches and the AD isn’t very good. Yes they’ve lost key players, many teams have, but you can’t call it the same program when there’s this much staff turnover
Nebraska has out recruited the rest of the Big Ten West consistently for years now, if in fact "it's the Jimmy's and the Joe's" that matter and Matt Rhule is the guy, then they easily rank ahead of at least the rest of the former Big Ten West teams. Wons and losses ALONE seem like a lazy metric to hang the rankings on. So much more should go into "Power Rankings."
Nice theory but not worth listening to. All seasons are affected by injury. The amount of money affects positions, but coaches can make a big difference. Amount of TV hype to a program is responsible for recruiting. Alabama, Ohio state, Michigan are schools that have benefited by talking head promoting these schools.
The only thing "worthless" about it is your analysis. It's like expecting Baskin Robins to change their entire branding because they now serve more than 31 flavors. Ignorant 😂😂😂
michigan is losing everyone while oregon is building up. dont understand why anyone would think they are the better team. i get it they won the natty. but we are talking about 2024, not 2023
Oregon will compete with Ohio State for the championship. I expect michigan to take a small step back with all they lost. Penn state will be third once again. Washington is flat out too high. They’ve lost everything. UCLA is sadly too high too, even there. Northwestern, while awful recruiting, seemed to find their coach. They should move up.
Michigan will beat osu again. This has been the same talk 4 years running now. Osu is soft. Oregon will be in for a rude awakening as well to the big ten. Have fun throwing the ball 40 times a game when it’s 20 degrees outside with 30mph winds
@@wattsinc. people have been saying there will be a fall off since Hutchinson and ojabo left. Hasn’t missed a beat. Moores staff is more complete with outstanding coaches. If you knew anything about football and Michigan in particular you’d know that Michigan took off when Moore took over the offensive line. He’s a great developer. He’s the reason for most of Michigans success. Not harbaugh. Harbaugh was too busy flirting with bs and the nfl while Moore was focused on the team. Michigan won’t miss a beat next season and the defense will be elite
After seeing where Nebraska landed, I'm instantly going to scroll the comments to see the Iowa fans throwing a fit because we're rated too close to them.
I’m not expecting Michigan State to be tier 1. Heck, we’re a decent rebuild away from Tiers 2 or 3. It’s been rocky, I get it. Lot of chaos. But good god. Thinking we’re lower than Maryland and Nebraska is a pretty sobering thought.
I'd put Iowa and Wisconsin as basically tied with Wisconsin slightly ahead if anything. Probably they need to be in their own tier with only them in after tier 2 and before the next tier starting with Maryland.
Good list / But Wisconsin should be tier 3. Their winning percentage and record over the last 25 years is top ten for all college programs. They have a winning bowl record over that time - unlike Penn State and Iowa. Yeah they were down the last few years, But have been consistently more competitive than Penn State / USC / Washington and Iowa for some time. They also hold the current NCAA record for most consecutive seasons with bowl eligibility. Not saying they should be above Penn State or USC.. or even Washington historically. Either the same or their own tier - And no way are they a Tier below Iowa. Thats just not right. Otherwise the list is fantastic.
tOSU alumnus here and diehard. Would def move oregon to the current 2 hole and then flip a coin between PSU amd SCUM altho i slightly lean towards Penn St at 3. The ONLY reason why i didnt is bc they hired Wink today and thats huuuuuge. I would also move wisconsin to 6 and maybe move washington to 8 after losing deboer. Im not sold on the guy from Zona yet. The rest feels right but its strange to see NW and Indiana at the bottom as theyve seen some success over the last 4 years whereas Purdue, rutgers and ILL havent. Mzybe Id drop Illinois to the bottom and put Rutgers on a tier w Maryland and Nebraska. I like what schianno did last year w rutgers. Nebraska and Sparty could be a stock to buy into along w wisconsin.
I mean, Maryland has won 3 bowl games in a row and has been steadily rising in recruiting rankings as well as grabbing some solid replacements in the portal. I think Nebraska still has something to prove on the field before they get any more love.
Ah yea lmao 3 bowl wins 2 8 win seasons over the last 3 years to nebraskas 0 bowl appearences not only that add maryland defeated nebraska at nebraska this past season its not an all time value he based it off passed 3 years and potentail for the future
Yeah that was honestly ridiculous. He should’ve just said the only reason he put OSU at 1 is because of stability and left it at that. Because he immediately contradicted his 3 year snapshot point by putting Michigan behind OSU. But oh well, Josh isn’t immune to being wrong.
He literally said top "programs", not top "teams", and explained that in the opening. But I'll do it again: Team only accounts for records and who beat who. Program accounts for that as well, but also culture, recruiting, coaching, NIL, facilities, and resources, etc.
michigan is a development school and a terrible recruiting school, they rely on seniors to be solid, they had 44 seniors this year, the most ever in the ap poll for a championship team, 23 year olds vs 19 and 20 year olds is a enormous advantage, now they in 2 years or so should be solid again. they also lost their head coach, QB and there cheating soldier conner stallion@@TheMCJ2011
I have no doubt he’s a good coach, but who is Indiana going to climb over? Even if Indiana rises, other programs will need to fall considerably for Indiana to get just into middle-of-the-pack status.
Programs trending up: Oregon, Wisconsin, Nebraska, MSU, possibly Indiana. Programs trending down: Michigan, Washington, Iowa, Minnesota, UCLA, probably Purdue. I’m counting 8, probably 9, schools who will have a coach in their 1st or 2nd season this year. It will be interesting to see who rises or falls from the middle of the pack in the next 2-3 years.
@@sc100ott In terms of resources being put into the program, our current AD has put more into this program since firing Allen than any other AD IU has had. Money comparable to or better than any of the other lower tier schools (IL, PU, Minnesota, Rutgers, NW, Maryland and UCLA). IU is never going to move into tier one or two status, but acting like they are miles behind the lower tier of the big ten in terms of financial resources because they've been the worst program since 2021 is conflating coaching issues with program issues. IMO Cignetti would not have put a nearly perfect HC resume (0 losing seasons in over a decade as an HC) if he thought he wouldn't be given the financial resources to compete with even the bottom of the conference.
Cmon man at some point OSU has to earn it on the field they get hyped every preseason. Michigan deserves that Number 1 spot 3 straight Big10 titles and a National championship returning a star loaded defense
Lol oh Josh. I can't fault you too much for not having done any homework on Maryland, but Josh Pate says: "They’ve been the ones capable of winning the West, but they've been parked in the East". Well let's just fact check that shall we. Oh look, Maryland's last win against a West opponent that finished with a winning record came on 9/22/18 in a 42-13 home win over Minnesota (finished 7-6). Maryland is 5-10 against the West since 2018, not counting the Covid year, and 6-11, if we do...........that doesn’t scream "oh the East is holding them back, theyd be CONTENDERS in the West." Lol But I forgive you. 😉
Yeah, we're losing a lot of talent, but that's what happens when you're #2 in the nation. We will have no problem replacing them. Maybe if you could muster more than 2 TD's a game, you'd get more respect. We're just another program you're gonna have to look up to every year, get used to it...
This isn’t about this season. This is about the best B1G programs. Look at the last collective 10 years. Even the last 25 years. Washington is the better program when compared to Iowa. Even if Iowa trounces Washington this season, Washington is still had the better program. Has Iowa ever played in a conference championship game? Have they ever made the playoffs? Have they ever played in a national title game? Washington can say yes to all these questions, Iowa can’t. Hence the reason why UW is the better program.

This looks pretty right to me... any chance you would do a Top 12 National Progrum power ranking? I say 12 as it implies perennial playoff teams.
From an SC fan: this is fair. I do think we can be at the top of the list with the right leadership and a little more investment in NIL. Our NIL game is actually kind of sad which is why the Oregon Phil Knights, I mean Ducks, is kicking our ass in recruiting
Haha classic U$C fan. Been buying players for years (Reggie Bush) and now that its legal you're in the the corner curled up rocking back and forth crying.
@@alta58043Congrats on the dumbest comment of the day.🎉 USC never paid Reggie. The violation was for a sports agent to represent him in the NFL post college. It was an institutional control issue, not because USC paid anyone. That's an easy Google search. Stop commenting before doing research! 😂😂😂
USC fans just can’t fathom that players want to play at Oregon more than USC😭
The average NIL for Oregon's 2024 class is $92k. Compare that to Texas with $225k average with the #6 class. Must be PK money, right?
Don’t play yourself
How many recruit’s have been flipped last second by Whoregon
You guys would be Oregon St with out Phil’s money and shady dealings
Big10 let the wolf in the back door
oregon, usc and even Washington with big10 exposure, media money, etc…well run conference.
Michigan and perhaps even OSU will eventually be fighting to stay tier 1.
Kind of a weird statement when both Michigan and OSU have outranked and outperformed Oregon, USC, and Washington in almost every way over the past three years. (Oregon and Washington obviously edged out OSU this past season).
They have been stuck in the poorly run PAC-12.
It’s going to take a while to happen…if it does.
@@klawsonoxy for sure. I agree that it's a real possibility, but I just don't ever see OSU dropping from tier 1 (and i say this as a Michigan alum). Their football program is literally everything to that school
UCLA was the only one that surprised me. Figured they would be in tier 4. Somewhere around Maryland.
Deshawn Foster has no track record as head coach. Currently 44 ranked recruiting class. (Last place Big Ten.
Absolute instability, as outsider seems correct now. Trajectories can change.
As a Michigan fan, you either put us 1 (bc they’ve dominated the conference.) or you have to move them lower than 2. Complete new staff and QB. Plus they just hired Wink Martindale.
Michigan cheated. It is like looking at the steroid era stats and how someone flipped a switch. Harbaugh is a 10 win coach. It is his ceiling. Covid 2-4 was an outlier. No need to pretend otherwise on a bad season of football. They are not in a good spot.
@@nickma71lmao
@nickma71 they still gonna have Ohio states signs next season lol so they will win😂😂

Rutgers played both Ohio and Michigan in the 2023 season. In fact, Rutgers had one of the toughest 2023 schedules.
Anybody can beat Ohio, I thought that school was in mac. And how come we are calling Michigan, Michigan? They should be goblue right
Frankly, I’m shocked you have Michigan ranked No. 2 given the offseason chaos. Lowkey massive compliment, actually
its not a prediction of next year though.
I forgot Oregon was big 10 now, i thought you were gonna put penn there lol. Good call.
Love this, and by and large, I agree. I think UCLA could move up, right behind MSU. Wisconsin will likely move up into the next tier in the coming year or 2, but we'll see. SC could belong in the same tier as Penn State, but keep em in the same spot. Maybe bump Rutgers down behind Illinois.
If Minnesota could get their recruiting churning then they could be top 10
lol!!!! just say no to drugs
@@TwilightsDreamAngel what are you talking about. As Josh said they are doing pretty good in the field if they can get their recruiting up and running at a very good team level then they would be top 10. I’m not saying top tier just top 10

Agree with your rankings tiers1 thru 4 except would drop Iowa behind Badgers and Terps. Tiers 5 and 6 don't matter. 🙂
As a Purdue fan, let’s talk basketball. Indiana is a basketball State. Football is just something to do until basketball season starts. 😊
Come on now. Dont act like purdue cant beat amazing teams its just the average ones they struggle with

Intriguing.
MSU should probably be at 19, but otherwise spot-on.
Not as good at cheating. That hurts MSU
@@randyr1952 they arent good at anything, that hurts them
Michigan State and Northwestern might jump several spots in the next year or two.
Yep...especially MSU.
I think MSU now that they are getting clear of all the BS over the last few years will rebound but it might take a few seasons.
Looks pretty good but I would definitely flip-flop Oregon and Penn State. Also Iowa and Wisconsin
The name Big 10 is horrible when there's 18 teams in the conference.😂
Not worried about it because we're maybe 5 years (max) from a super conference where the name will be totally different.
The Big 18 just sounds dumb. They should be called The SEC's Little Brother
@@la7era1u54didn't see bama or texas playing in the natty. NIL is hurting the poverty southern league. Academic money is legal now.
Glad to see Michigan as high as 2 after all they are losing. Hope you are right. Ohio loaded with talent and keeps adding plus they only have 2 competitive games on their schedule and will be heavy favorites in both. If Ohio doesn’t win Big10 this year - will be interesting to see what happens in Columbus. Better stated if they should lose #4 to Michigan in Columbus that will even be worse.
GBR on the way up
Big 10 should have invited Utah in and left UCLA behind.
These decisions aren't based on just football alone though..
Money money money, and it’s not just about football
You're right once we beat Ohio state at home this year Then we can be tear one. We have to get back to beating michigan too.
Decently accurate. I think there isn't enough love for UCLA. I'd spot them just behind Wisconsin.
With what coach?
@@jimjones9900 .... and zero recruiting - check out this years mess... less than a dozen players and mostly 3 stars...
I don’t know enough about them to say one way or another but with them losing a coach this long after the season has ended I’d almost say they are overvalued now.
Maryland surprises everyone! Ohio had a hard time with them, Michigan has a hard time with them.. don't sleep on Maryland.
The feeling is mutual
Michigan *
Don’t forget to add champions to that
How many Big Ten teams make the playoffs this coming season?
I'm not sure about Iowa being tier 3, but I can see how that case could be made. They seem very 1 dimensional and they have been playing in the easy side of the conference. I'm not sure how things will go for them moving forward
Here's how things will go for Iowa moving forward because it's what's best for CFB as a whole:
National..........Championship.
UCLA hasn't recruited well at all and this year is a disaster.... they lost Chip to tosu today so I see ucla down in the bottom 3 for awhile...
Yeah right 😂
USC vs Ohio St all time record 13-10
USC vs Michigan al time record 38-13
usc always gets ranked so high and at the end of the season youd ask yourself why they keep ranking this team so high , id put them at a solid number 7 or 8 and im a west coast fan
Based on everything said about Michigan on this show recently, they should be in tier2 with Penn State. They’ve lost key coaches and the AD isn’t very good. Yes they’ve lost key players, many teams have, but you can’t call it the same program when there’s this much staff turnover
Maryland should be above Iowa IMHO.
I 100% agree, I never paid attention to them because I didn’t realize how good they were but they are pretty consistent getting 8 wins or higher.
*progrums
How is Nebraska, a program that hasn't made a bowl since Obama was president and has the longest P5 bowlless streak in the country, at 10???
Yes, thank you.
I would have probably put Rutgers in front of MSU at least. Rutgers hasn't been a winning program but they are getting better under Greg Schiano.
That’s about right.
If you ever feel worthless in life, remember that there are people who name an 18-team conference the "Big 10"
Big Ten is the brand..
It’s been named the big ten since there was ten teams. It’s the brand name. And big 18 just doesn’t have the same ring to it.
The only thing "worthless" about it is your analysis. It's like expecting Baskin Robins to change their entire branding because they now serve more than 31 flavors. Ignorant 😂😂😂
Just imagine that there are people who are actually bothered by it
Not too sharp huh?
Why 3 years and not 4 years? 4 years makes sense more than 3 does (coach has a full class enter and leave).
michigan is losing everyone while oregon is building up. dont understand why anyone would think they are the better team. i get it they won the natty. but we are talking about 2024, not 2023
Everyone doesn't include Grant, Loveland, Graham, Johnson, Edwards, Moore, etc...

If I’m a Northwestern fan, I’m jumping into Lake Michigan. Lower than Illinois? In what world?

Northwestern just beat Utah in the bowl game lol. They should be 11th.
Maryland ahead of Nebraska?!?!
“3 year rolling snapshot” but the 3-time defending champions aren’t the kings of the heap. LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I know you’re just trying to be objective but Coach Cignetti is gonna make you eat your words on Indiana sir.
Sure 😂 😂 😂
Maryland is 5-10 against the West since 2018, not counting the Covid year, and 6-11, if we do...........that doesn’t scream "oh the East is holding them back, theyd be CONTENDERS in the West." Lol
