    What a gorgeous sweater. Very intricate pattern (Fisherman's Knit, I think). Just lovely. Thanks for sharing this technique.

    You saved me. My first bulky sweater ended up with collar too big. I am watched the video and will try the foldover, which looks so much better to me!! Thank you I'll be watching more tutorials!! Pattie

    Lovely sweater! When I knit a 2” double neckband in a 2x2 rib (4” total before folding the band in half), I knit a “P 1 RS row” to form a turning ridge. For example, when the 2x2 rib measures 2”, next row: P 1 RS row (turning ridge). For the inside layer of the 2x2 band, I purl the knit sts and knit the purl sts for 2”. By doing so, when the neckband is folded in half, the inside purl/knit sts nest in the knit/purl sts nicely without excessive neckband bulk.
    Thank you for your video..

      Thanks so much for this. I really wanted to try this technique but couldn’t remember if it was knit a row or purl a row when reaching halfway. You’ve saved me 🧡

    What a fantastic look for a sweater! I love your channel. I will be starting my very first sweater shortly, but it will be the next one before I attempt this. Thank you!

    I'm excited to be here I've just learned to knit and have gotten my tension to be pretty regular, through much practice. I honestly couldn't tell you when I subscribed because I haven't set through one video yet I must have been channel surfing and seen promise.

    Thank you!! I could NOT fit my first ever garment over my head, and I was whip stitching... just not leaving enough slack hahaha.

    Thank you! I'm knitting a self drafted pattern and decided last minute that I wanted to try a folded neckband but I've never knit one before. Your tutorial was great but I'm going to add a lifeline just in case I mess up lol.

    GORGEOUS SWEATER!!! I like to double knit in the round for folded hem’s like neck bands and cuffs, and then attach it by binding it off onto my garment. And for bottom up Beanie’s & Hats, I start by double knitting in the round for the brim. I must be the only one because I’ve never seen a tutorial for the way I do it 🤪

      Double knitting for a double brim or cuff - that's a fabulous idea! I'm definitely going to have to give that a try.

    This is great. I just finished a jumper after not knitting for quite a few years. I feel the neckband is too open for me as I like the feel of a collar close to my neck. I thought I might be able to unpick the cast off stitches and then make the neckband wider and fold it over so your video is very helpful knowing it should be fine. Thanks!

      There isn't a pattern - this was a self-drafted project.

    Thanks for this great video! I am getting ready to knit the Humulus Sweater by Isabell Kraemer. It is a boatneck and want to convert to a double folded collar. I will be casting on 110 stitches for the neck for my size. (It’s top down). How many stitches would I pickup?

      Start with the same number and see how that looks.

    Hi there! I am trying to add a squishy collar to the Reykjavik sweater, which has a rolled purl neck at the top (and is knitted top down). Can I swap the cast-on for a provisional and try this with the live stitches? Or would it be better to do a firmer cast-on so the neck doesn't stretch out too much? Thank you!

    • @NerdyKnitting
      @NerdyKnitting  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would be concerned about the weight of the garment affecting the neckline with a provisional cast on. Instead, you could cast on directly for the sweater - skipping the neckline until later then pick up stitches for the neckband directly from the castbon edge.

      I've done a top down sweater with a folded neck line. Instead of wip stitching the live stitches . Instead knit the stitches together on from each end. So the neck band folds in half. This creates a nice stretchy neck as well that springs back well.

    Heya, great video! how would a folded V neck work?

    • @NerdyKnitting
      @NerdyKnitting  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question! I'm not really sure about that - definitely something to look into!

    • @alissasitihaura3567
      @alissasitihaura3567 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can do it by decreasing 2 sts by the center V st on every round, repeat until reaching the desired amount of rounds and then do increases on both sides with m1R and m1L by the center V for the same amount of rounds and then fold it and bind off! I'm currently working on a folded V neck collar for a test knit and this video helps a lot for the last part! Thankss

    hi, i was just wondering if there is a way i could do this with a top down sweater?

    • @NerdyKnitting
      @NerdyKnitting  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you would cast on and start right with the body of the sweater (skipping the neckline). When you're finished, go back and pick up stitches for the neckline and knit it just as it's explained in the video.

    I can’t see where you’re inserting the needle for the stitch on the front needle. Through the loop? Need closer and slower camera for that please
