I love hearing people cover this. Frank Black and Fountains of Wayne did great versions too, but I hadn't heard the Pearl Jam one till now. I always though, lovely as the Kinks version was, it's great to hear versions with a bit more energy. Really good to hear you rocking out and having fun, Pearl Jam!
Fountains does a great, poppy, Beatles-esque version which is great fuin. I like Davies, though--it has a touch of the melancholy that it is preaching against--a more humane and mature version of someone who knows personally of what he speaks!
I used to listen to the original growing up. I like this version! I wonder if my daughter remembers me listening to this. 🤔 I'm sorry Kurt didn't get the message. 😢❤❤
t's really good to see you rocking out And having fun Living like you've just begun Accept your life and what it brings I hope tomorrow you'll find better things I know tomorrow you'll find better think
I loathe Pearl Jam, find them very boring. I love the Kinks, but I do appreciate when a band puts their own stamp on a cover. Making the song a bit of their own, good job. Boring, but their fans will love it, and it is very respectful. Well done
first, yes it was an amazing version; but, it wasn't too late to be a classic. Because of the internet and TH-cam it's popularity will continue to rise. This sone is freaking amazing. (almost) everytime I get depressed, I play it.
God Save the Kinks!

Check out The Bouncing Souls version mate, personally think it's the best.

This almost makes me forgive Pearl Jam for their 1990s influence.
They only cover real talent...great tune on both ends

well, that's a damn good version of a song that was too late to ever be a Kinks Klassic.
