This is all new to me. Do you use a yogurt maker or how do you make the yogurt? I know you said it takes 36 hours. I really like your style of cooking because I love to cook, but sometimes don't do so well on doing by the book.🤷♀️
Ok maybe final comment lol. I made this Lifeway kefir and it is perfect. I used strawberry and there may be just a hint of that taste. I made mine in instant pot with sous vide setting so I can set time & temperature. Used metal rack in bottom of the pan (no water) set 3 quart jars filled with mixture on the rack set for 36hrs @ 100°. My recipe is not quite the same as yours but it worked: 1 TBS inulin; 1/4 cup Lifeway kefir; 2 cups each half & half and organic whole milk > BOTH ULTRA PASTEURIZED. I do not heat the milk. Just pour straight into quart jars & mix well. Put lids on lightly. Set the jars in instant pot & set the hours & time. I do put cover back on instant pot just don’t seal it. Works great. Thanks for this easy method. It only will make 3 quarts at a time but that is plenty for my household.
I’ve just watched complicated kefir yogurt. I’m making my jar of kefir right now . Waiting for the ferment to finish. I don’t want complicated recipes. Ty
What kind of kefir do you use, containing L. Reuteri, please? NB: Quart Jar is used in the demo, so it can contain: 2 cups of half half plus some whole milk. Preparation:1. Mix prebiotics 2/3 inulin, 1/3 acacia Senitize all the jars and mixer, 1. 2:03 Warm up some milk to 100F, pour some into each jar, 2. Put a heapful tablespoon (or 2 tablespoons) of mixed prebiotics to each jar and mix well, 3. Pour 2 cups of Half Half (first senitizef) to each jar, 4. Add two full tablespoons of kefir and top up with whole milk, mix well, 5. Put the lid on loosely without screw, 6. Put to incubator set to 100F for 36 hours.
How much of the prebiotic fiber do you use per quart? I am using the Bio Gaia tablets. I am starting with 1 quart to make sure I know what I am doing. Thanks
Oh, do you confirm that thera are some L.Reuteri in Kefir then we don't have to use the L.reuteri Tablets ? Sorry, I'm not english speaking, thus I think I've missed some points here 🙏🙏
Can you list the bacterias you got in this super yoghurt? I live in norway and most common seems to be L thermophila and S. bulgaricus. Can i combine them with reuteri?
You can vary the temperature based on which bacteria you want to proliferate. Lactobacillus reuteri is happiest at 100 degrees; others thrive at higher temperatures. Try it at 106 and let me know how it turns out. It's an adventure! Thank you for watching.
@@drdebbieozment I ferment the yogurt at 100-101 degrees F. I want ALL of the good bacteria to proliferate, including the L Reuteri, in a big way so a temp. that is closer to our own bodies is best. Comes out perfect.
@@drdebbieozmentHi, I may miss a point : Will this yoghurt contains L.reuteri, provided by the Kefir starter ? (As i didn't see any L.reuteri tablets used) Thank you for confirming, so i won't buy the tablets, I actually make kefir myself Sorry for my average english 😊 🙏
Thank you for this. I just started following the Super Gut book and was hoping someone did a video on the kefir yogurt! I appreciate this.

Thanks for your explanation, I will try your method

I made this using Lifeway kefir for the first time and it turned out perfect! Thank you for sharing! The book is very informative btw!
Wonderful!
I ALWAYS spill when making the L reuteri Super Yogurt and I will for sure spill when making this too. lol Thanks for this great video.
It sounds like you are having lots of parties too! :)
Do you have to use milk? Can you just use half & half?
Yes! You can just use half and half.
Why do you have to heat the milk at first ? Just keep the milk as purchased. I have my homemade fermented milk yogurt to use.
Thank you doctor for introducing Lifeway plain kefir. (6:45 Lifeway Kefir added).
Isn't it delicious?!!
Wonder if you could come up with a water kefir method similar to this so that grains do not need to be maintained.

I use ultra pasteurized milk instead of heating milk when making my kefir. I could only get the peach Lifeway yogurt. Could it work.
It absolutely will work. You may have discovered something delicious with the peach kefir!
I make kefir so I tried this a few weeks ago in my sous vide, using Now Inulin. It didn't set and I'm wondering why. The L.Reuteri worked though.

can i ask you what sous vide brand you are using.... i want to buy one that fits 6 quart jars like yours does, thank you
Hello! I am using the 12 Liter Anova Sous Vide. They have sales fairly often.
@@drdebbieozment thank you ! just found you and love your offerings.
Where’s the starter? Guess I missed it….
The Kefir is the starter.
How would you make this if you wanted to use the yogurt from a previous batch?
Hello! You can use two tablespoons of yogurt to each quart jar. Thank you for tuning in!
Why use the kefir instead of all the other probiotic yogurts Dr. Davis talks about?
This is an easy way for someone to get started that is delicious and predictable. We enjoy making and eating the other varieties too!
This is also in his book Super Gut. He said the kefir strains are good for you as well. It is in addition to the other yogurts.
In the Doctor’s Super Gut book, he ferments the commercial KEFIR @ 106 degrees for 36 hours, NOT 100 degrees. Why 100 degrees?

The cameraman needs training as he doesn't show the yoghurt pots much, lol
The camera man is actually me and a tripod! Thank you for watching!
