    Couple tips and notes:
One, to speed up your dashboards, only authorize the devices you are using in that dashboard. Especially when you have a lot of devices.
Two, we recommend trying to pair devices in place. Repeaters should handle this, but older Z-Wave devices might prevent this from occurring.
Three, mobile apps are now available, giving you access to dashboards in the app, geofencing and push notifications.
Four, There are mobile optimized "cards" views for devices and apps, the table or list view was only shown in this video.
Five, for the Lutron integration, it requires the Caseta Smart Bridge PRO version, or any Radio RA2 bridge (only consumer hub to support Radio RA2)
Six, forgot to mention you control your backups and restore ability, also you choose when or if to upgrade, updates are not forced on you.
Seven, you mentioned Hubitat runs local, but one key feature, is it doesn't require internet, so if you have all local devices, zigbee, zwave, lan connected, you can continue to use everything even without internet, including dashboard access. (just not mobile apps, as they require internet to login in / authorize)
Overall, great video and let us know if we can help.

@@DIYSmartHomeGuy1 Hi, Im currently a ST user for almost 5 years. My hud I believe is starting to giving me problems. I contacted ST but I haven't gotten good results. While researching about ST Hub v3 Hubitad came on my radar. let see if you can help me out to finally pull the trigger on Hubitad. I have quite a few monoprice 11990 dual on/off z wave relays that are connected to dumb switches making them "smart". Currently with ST they work via a device handler allowing the ST app to see Two switches instead of one relay. Do you think Hubitad can handle these type of switches?... Thanks for the great video.

Thanks for the time and effort you put in to produce the video. Overall the video lowered my stress level for migration to Hubitat. I was a System Administrator for the IBM AS-400 years ago, and hated when we had to do a migration for hardware and software at the same time. I was having flashbacks to the 24 to 36 hours day(s) I had to pull to get a migration finished and tested before Monday morning.

Glad to see a new video from you and I'm extra excited that it was on the Hubitat. I am really considering moving from ST to here. My main reason is the dashboard. I want to set up a wall mounted controller and I think this will do it. The question I have not had answered yet is RTSP. Can I have a live feed from my RTSP enabled cameras as a widget on the dashboards? Its not a killer for me but would be a nice to have. Thanks for the videos and I'm looking forward to more Pro tips on the Hubitat.

This video made a very good point and I will get to that later. I started with home alarm/automation with a Sear product back in the 1990's. Did it work yes, primitive but yes it did work well. The main issue with all these "Home Automation" products is that they cannot stay in business long enough or as you pointed out get bought out by other companies. You have 80 devices, that is a good chunk of change for the average person. You enjoy it and that is why you work with these technologies. The fact is most people won't be bothered other then the people like you and me which it a rare person out there. Hopefully this one pans out. Would be interesting to see a cost analysis of infrastructure investment to cost savings. I also understand remote operation in some cases can be very beneficial. Personally I was tired of spending money over and over to keep things running. Add to if you or I the operator of the program was not around for some time; it all falls apart slowly until it all fails. It's still all to complex and still only for the wealthy where the wealthy might want to delve . Just one persons opinion.

@@DIYSmartHomeGuy1 Very good analysis there. After observing the many mergers you have stated over the past couple years, it has led me to a bit of in depth research into (my opinion of) viability of a home automation company. Fortunately Hubitat through some of their online interviews/podcasts has expanded their company "goal/vision" on this as well to give better insight. My conclusion on this (opinionated research) is NO "normal size" home automation company can sustain a business model that depends on maintaining/expanding cloud servers as part of their operation WITHOUT charging a monthly fee to recoup the massive expense cloud servers cost to operate. Look at Ecobee, Unreliable - their servers are constantly going offline (no monthly fee), Look at Vera, they "claim to be" local but any changes you wish to make to your automations must be done through a portal (server), and it my case controller was "offline" at least 3 times per week, that same server space is needed to also store each customers devices data. Smartthings can get by for a little bit because they are not "normal size" of the company with all other Samsung products can help absorb losses, but this to will come to an end one day (without the monthly fee, the revenue is not there to maintain cloud servers).
Which brought me to Hubitat, as there is no massive server farm at all with this platform. The only connection Hubitat has to your hub is the "Registered Mac/IP Address" so that when they push out firmware updates they know where to send them, that is it. They don't store any device data, there is no "portal" required to login to access your hub, it is all done with the hubs local IP address (after registration) on your network only. Therefore more resources can be devoted to innovation, which after 2 months has already been proven to me as there as been at least 12 updates sent since then, and 1 from Vera in 12 months. Another telling sign was when Lowe's Iris announced shutdown, Hubitat's team got together to write drivers for most of all the Iris V1 devices that are literally incompatible (at least no one else to date has been able to get them to work on another platform) with every platform, solely as a way to reach out to those thinking Iris just stuck it to them being invested in all these devices and now EVERYTHING would be worthless. That speaks volumes in this market, you will never find a Smartthings/Vera/Wink etc, innovating to grab market share in this field, they are take it or leave it companies.....Then goes to the company support Via their community forum, almost daily Hubitat staff is in the forum answering customer questions/issues, that too you will hardly ever find with the other platforms. Ok time for wrap up, Based upon my (opinionated research) I do not see Hubitat going anywhere anytime soon, and if they did, they way their business model is structured with this company, in no way would your automation be affected, nor is there Hubitat specific devices. So you have zero risk waking up one day and your home automation being shut down/devices no longer work because the company went under or got bought by someone.
I just wish I would have heard of them last year it would have saved me $300 wasted on Vera.

Only the Pro version does and Telnet capability is required for communication between Hubitat and the Lutron bridge

All you need for remote access to the local web page is either setting up a VPN to your home IP, or forwarding a port. If you can setup this device, then you are more than skilled to do some network adjustments on your home internet router. Plenty of tutorials out there on how to do that.

I made the mistake of going with Leviton Decora Smart Switches and Plugs. Every time the internet goes out, I'm outta luck. When I asked if there was a way to upgrade the devices, Leviton does not offer an upgrade path. I was wondering if there was a way to "spoof" the web address that the Leviton devices poll to point them to the Hubitat? A simple dedicated route on my router could handle the routing, but can the Hubitat take the place of the cloud? Great video. Thanks

Came across this great video while looking for a replacement for Wink. Since everything is local and upgrades aren't forced on you I suppose if the company goes under everything should still work as is. What is the company doing business model wise to make sure that it will stick around for a while? I would expect to see some 'Cadillac features' or some sort of subscription model somewhere to sustain the company. Don't get me wrong, I like purchasing a great product with no strings attached but experience has led me to be a bit skeptical.

Hi, well I’m in the UK and SmartThings have done a new app which I’ve had to start migrating to. To only find out that my smart home monitor which was protecting my home at night and when we leave is now useless ! Much to my anger at this being I’d say a big messer as regards changing things around. Lots of integrations like WebCoRE which I used for many things including presence which is now kicked out of SmartThings ! Lots of code I’ve integrated from GitHub to. Which it seems will no longer work either. After being with SmartThings so long I am beyond disappointed with what they have done .... so I am looking for another option which someone else is t going to mess with and take away from me. The thing I want working is the security side of things. Is it possible that hibitat elevation will can do smart home monitoring away and when at home ... I already have sirens lights and the like ... so any advice would be greatly appreciated as I’m mega peed off with SmartThings!! Rant over.

@@DIYSmartHomeGuy1 I have used Home Assistant, as a total Linux and Python noob, the Hass.io image is pretty easy to use, but I have used it for a while and can work around the quirks of YAML. I just am a little bit over the breaking changes and I was wondering about Hubitat and if Hubitat could do the same types of automations. One thing I do enjoy about Home Assistant is the virtually limitless possibilities in the automation engine, as long as your willing to template/yaml/jinga your way through it. Smart Things users (if they want to) can install the HubConnect User App (Hub Link built in Hubitat app does this also I believe but HubConnect is better) on their Smart Things Hub making it a "Remote Hub" and the HubConnect User App on the Hubitat makes it a "Coordinator Hub" Thereby any device you have installed on SmartThings can be accessed/controlled through your Hubitat Hub OR reverse which one is the Coordinator and Remote Hubs and you could use your SmartThings Hub to control the Hubitat Hub (other way is better IMO). You can also use this HubConnect App to link multiple Hubitats together....I have 3 1 Running nothing but automatons and wifi/cloud devices with the Zwave and Zigbee radios turned off to free up processing power/speed for the automations and one hub each for zwave and one for zigbee with the each other's radio turned off for the same reason.

Apparently a lot of people have good luck getting it going, but they also use the typical setup of HA/OH/MQTT on a Pi or similar. Mine is in a VM. It needs reference to the MAC address of the MQTT box, which should be transparent in the virtualized container but apparently it's not because it's not working. It must be my over complicated setup, because it appears to work for other people.
But still, why no native client IN the Hubitat box? I'm not even asking for a broker - just the client?

@@DIYSmartHomeGuy1 How do I add this? I'm totally lost on Hubitat. I just want an easy control solution for my family

@@DIYSmartHomeGuy1 Thank you. I'm so lost how to set up apps and tiles with intuitive user control. I guess this isn't the app for on the fly controls and strictly moreso for automation.

@@DIYSmartHomeGuy1 I have zero experience with any other hub. I have a few WiFi LED Strips I control with Google Home, but recently bought a bunch of Sylvania Lightify recessed ceiling lights for my den. It said it need a compatible Zigbee hub. I saw Hubitat is the most recent/advanced hub to use so figured why not try it out. It's far more than I need I think. Maybe SmartThings will be better for me? I'm not trying to fully automate my home, just needed a hub to control my Sylvania lights (and a bit of future upgradability). The local storage was a huge selling point too.

I'm not sure why you had pairing issues as I've not experienced this on any of my 3 Hubitat Hubs and Hubitat staff expressly promotes "pairing in place" to insure devices build their mesh properly. The only known pairing issue is with Zwave Locks and Garage Doors as with the "secure" pairing requirements need the lock right next to the hub. I've literally paired a contact sensor 150+ feet away from the hub outdoors on a mailbox instantly without issues of having to move the hub.
Great Video overall though, Hubitat is an excellent product with GREAT support, it's what I "thought" I was getting when buying a VeraSecure (now $300 paperweight)
