I totally agree, I have spent hours trying to find out what exactly brush pens are and how to use them but not learn very much, but your video is just brilliant, so helpful, Thank you.
I’ve been looking for a few days for a video that explained how to use these ones. Not a review and a swatch/demo. Actually tips and techniques. Thank you so very much for sharing this! It’s been very helpful!
You are so sweet, I love that you took the time to make these videos. I hope you read this someday and know that there's people that take the time and appreciate what you are doing. Lots of good vibes from Europe to you!
Super video. I bought some of these markers recently but was fumbling around trying to figure out just how to use them. You provided some great tips. Will look forward to more of your videos in the future!
I found out a few days ago that I was getting the 48 set of these for Christmas and I was actually really surprised because I love watercolour and brush markers. But I normally use watercolour sheets and alcohol markers. So as soon as I found out I was getting them, I started watching reviews on them. Yours was the first video when I searched up "arteza real brush pens", so I instantly went on it. So thanks for educating on an art supply I didn't even know existed!
Thank you for this video! I really appreciate the way you show the different techniques within simple yet elegant drawings. You’ve really managed to take such an intricate art form and give us easy to manage nuggets of information that even the most novice artist can understand. Ive never done watercolors but just picked up a set of these last night
This video is so helpful and relaxing. The music you have chosen along with your beautiful voice helps me unwind and paint without too much distraction. Thank you!
Thank you sooo much for taking the time to create this video. I just received my first set of these and was a bit daunted in attempting my first creation. You covered all of the issues I struggle with. Again THANK YOU!!! 💜
A friend gifted me a small set of these pens, and I didn’t understand how to use them from watching other videos. Thank you, thank you, thank you for explaining and illustrating the various methods for beginners like me.
Thank you very much for the information on using the right paper!! I didn't know why I wasn't getting good results. Now I have found that Arteza premium is the right one for me!
I got these way back at Christmas and tried to use them but have always been terrible with anything watercolor and I got really intimidated and stopped trying, now that we're stuck at home with nothing to do I was determined to try them again and not give up so easily, this was the best tutorial I've seen by far, thank you so much!
Oh my gosh thank you!!! I just ordered these and theres no instructions. This is so helpful, Arteza should post this on their website!! They would sell more.
Thanks so much for this. It's a very simple and easy introduction into how the media works. I am a pretty advanced artist, and I'm taking a class for drawing with brush pens, but this was a very nice and relaxing video about how they work.
Hi! Thank you so much for making this video!!! I was very shy using my pens after I bought them and this made everything so much more comfortable to think about! I started painting halfway through and I'm very excited. Super informative and calming, thank you again!!!
This is a fantastic tutorial on Arteza brush pens. I have a 96 set and I haven't used them yet because I wasn't sure what to do with them and I have not artistic talent to speak of. Lol. Thank you for the GREAT and thorough tutorial!
I LOVE these things omg. They're soooo much fun! They helped me to be more expressive with my art. They were my introduction to watercolor and still a huge part of a lot of my art I do for fun. They just came out with the Glitter ones. I got em on sale for $25 on Amazon. They're such a fun addition to the 96 set. Arteza had these and the twimarkers which are huge parts of my art. I even love their expert colored pencils, watercolor pencils, their (black version) high quality brush alcohol markers. I know they're a mid tier brand but these brush pens are top notch. Awesome video and excellent tips. I hope more people learn about and love these from this video. You videos are always fun and engaging. I learn a lot. Even on topics and with tools I've used for a long time. Thanks for all you do. 💜
Thank you for sharing this. I was just about to buy some water filled brush pens, but I don't know how to use them. To tell you the truth, I don't know how to paint it all, but I'm enjoying coloring on rocks right now. I've been getting into sketching because it's something that is portable and I can take with me, but I love color so it's a dilemma! Hahaha thanks for sharing
The water filled brush pens are AMAZING! I've been using them for yearsss, and I've been working with watercolor since I was a young child. And through all the brands and types and all the different options for watercoloring, I gotta say my favorite is by far the water pens. There is so much you can do with them, and the fact that there are so reusable and easy to clean, makes it that much better lol. But like I said, there's so much you can do with them that I've been using them for So long and still every time I use them I learn something new :) just takes some time to learn how to use them and get the textures you like mastered.
Thank you so much for sharing this sweetie. I received the 48 set of these pens and I struggled to get them to activate with water on some different paper. This has been so helpful. Thank you Rebecca xx
Thank you very much for explaining how to use these brush pens! I just got them and have no idea what I'm doing with this technique lol! I love experimenting with different art products, techniques, styles and mediums and I can't wait to try them. I love to paint with oils, acrylics and now watercolors so this will be fun to learn. I have subscribed to your channel since you have such a calming voice and your instructional videos are very informative. Thanks for sharing!
1st timer. Ty!! Perfect tips for a new arteza user...invested in these (4/18) and got overwhelmed ... Haven't used them til today, and your examples and applications are perfect for me. p.s. I hadn't read other's comments and was surprised and relieved to see so many in the same situation.
I just bought some of these arteza brush markers and your videos have been so helpful!! I’m not very experienced with watercolors and just your tips alone have saved me! I was wondering what my issue was and it turned out to be the paper 🙄
Thank you!! I recently purchased these and I've been a little nervous about using them with water but this video gave excellent "How To's" do now I'm ready to start trying it!! Thanks again!
I love your voice. and I’ve had these Brush pens for quite some time now I never do find myself using them know because it’s a PITA to get them out of the holder that I got which is actually a top-of-the-line holder that everyone recommended, perhaps with use the elasticity will give some. Thanks for all the tips!
I have the set, they are amazingand so reasonably priced! Just thought I'd mention I always use them on Bristol smooth cardstock, not the vellum, but the smooth. they move like a dream on the paper. Since you're not using tons of water with this, the Bristol smooth really holds up.
Fantastic tips, the best I’ve found, thank you so much. I’ve had the 96 set for 3 months and although absolutely loving the colours, couldn’t do anything with then as they wouldn’t blend or layer. I realised thanks to you it’s my paper...phew, I was using Canson watercolour gummed pad. But I’ll order some cotman as I can’t wait to use your techniques, love how you use the light colour to pull out and blend...thank you so much as I really didn’t want to give up on this beautiful set.
Oh that's great, so glad I could be of help. Another paper that works pretty well with them is the Arteza Premium (not the expert one) watercolor paper and that works out cheaper than the cotman. I'm just personally not so keen on the texture which is why I prefer the Cotman.
Great informative tutorial Rebecca! I have a set of 24 and hated them because they wouldn’t blend. It never occurred to me to try a different paper. Great video, as always.
Wonderful! I have these but didn’t like them because they wouldn’t blend easily. Now I know the tricks and will be using smooth paper. Will try on Bristol Smooth think I’m out of the vellum. Thank for sharing! 💖
Thank you this was most useful,as you point out the colours are very intense and your methods make for a more subtle approach, the type of paper is very important I have been using shiny Bristol board but going to try different papers, also yopu can blend using a standard watercolour dished pallete.
I bought the brush pens online hoping I could accomplish something little at least. I know nothing about art. But you just taught me so much. Thank you!!
Excellent video! I have this set, but I haven't done my review blog of them yet. This video will definitely help me and I will put a link to it in my blog so my readers can use all these wonderful tips!
Great info, I have a similar set by Arteza and have mostly used them 'straight' without blending. Def going to use them some more with the tips you presented.
I have just ordered the 96 set of Arteza Real Brush Pens & thought I should find out how to use them! Thank you so much for this wonderfully detailed tutorial - very informative 🤗. I can't wait for them to arrive now 😂

I love how informative this video is and I have the arteza watercolor and the book with it and I want to use them effectively, since I want to improve as an artist
This is such a great video for these pens, I got similar ones and this is the first time I've ever worked with a pen like this, and was feeling like I wasn't really "getting" how to use them. But you really broke it down super efficiently, you showed so many cool techniques I would have never thought of :) This video/You really taught me how to vastly improve my art! Thanks for making this :) you rock

Love your video! I just received my first first basic set of water color brush pens and very happy to use them for my bullet journal. Thank you for your great instruction.
Thanks for this video. I bought a set of 48 and had no idea how to use them. I've watched multiple videos but still couldn't get the hang of it. I'm getting ready to try again and watched this first. I hope it helps.
Congratulations on 15k subs, Rebecca! And thank you for this video. It is very much appreciated. I have brush pens from Colorit. So this has been helpful.
Thank you so much I really really enjoyed watching you demonstrate these paint pens. Very very useful and helpful too. I’ve subscribed and given you a thumb’s up too
I've used every marker from Kuretake Zigs to Ohuha and Artezas...hands down, the Arteza Waterbrush pens/markers are the best. I am interested in your take on the bendability with the satin finish you suggest. When and HOW do you find it most effectively used?
They blend very easily over the satin finish, even after they've dried as they reactivate so easily. This can also be a downfall as it's difficult to layer when the underneath layer reactivates so easily. So it's best used on papers that where they don't blend well. I've only ever used it with colouring books.
Love your style and thank you. Am I understanding you that if I have a coloring book, I can paint 1-2 coasts of glazing liquid (let dry) then follow your amazing instructions/guidance to use my watercolor pens.; you are so right about the fat that is is all about the paper! Thx!
This was the only one truly helpful to me! I have never painted anyting in my like....I am 73 and want to learn watercolor painting but thought I'd start with the brush pens 1st because of control. Also want to try watercolor pencils....I do have all supplies. Where did you get the little sketches? CAn you buy online? I don't have a printer. Also have never sketched or doodled before. Thanks or sharing these tips....I'm a real and true beginner :)
Hi Kathy, thanks so much for watching. I got those pictures from some books by Peggy Dean. They're called 'Botanical Line Drawing' and 'Botanical Lined Drawing: Cactus and Succulent'. They are really good books for beginners and I got them from Amazon. You copy each line step by step until you have a full picture and there's a lot of different plants to choose from. So you won't need to print them out. Good Luck, hope you really enjoy your new hobby :-)
I bought markers like these a while ago and couldn't for the life of me get them to blend. It wasnt until I saw you try to blend the markers on paper that I realized its because I have the wrong type of paper. Im glad I found your video, I was just starting think that I sucked at using the markers. XD
Rebecca, wonderful video. Thanks for the tip about the satin glazing medium. I just received the set of 96 without the case. May I ask how your case is working out? Do they fit well? Thank you, Elaine Allen
I've been playing around with fude nib fountain pens and bought some custom fillable brush pens (ive got so much good fp ink, why not), and this has definitely helped get a basic use out of them for me! I'm much more of a writer than an artist (I can barely draw stick fogures) but this is still cool!
I have a question! When I lay down a drawing in pencil, is there a way to fix it and allow color to come through? Does satin glazing liquid work on drawings or does it smear it? And what would you use in order to keep your drawing down and be able to water color without having the graphite become part of the watercolor?
I bought some brush pens a long time ago but I have been too scared to use them. I'm finally ready to use them thanks to you! I'm wondering what you used to draw the outlines of the images? I'm not sure what to use that won't get ruined by the water.
I've had my pens for a while but haven't used them. Then I got intimidated. You simplified this process. Thank you!
You mean inspired
no it makes sense when they said intimidated 🙄
Sooo intimadating!! I completely understand what you mean!
Oh My God same
I've learnt more from you in 20 minutes, than I have from going to an art class every week for the past year or so. Thank you for sharing.

I loved this video! Thank you so much for making it!
This video helps soo much , thankyou for the amazing tips ..
Thanks for a great tutorial. I hope you had wonderful Christmas
I've been playing around with fude nib fountain pens and bought some custom fillable brush pens (ive got so much good fp ink, why not), and this has definitely helped get a basic use out of them for me!
I'm much more of a writer than an artist (I can barely draw stick fogures) but this is still cool!
Thus is the best brush pen video I've evere seen keep the work up 🤩😍😛😋🙃🙂
Fabulous video. I really learned a lot. Thank you.
Thank you so much you helped me to learn how to use them is beautiful
I've had a pack of these pens and used them as felt tips for so god damn long- THANK YOU.
sounds good, just had them for Christmas, watching video first, for tecnique , application so on. Exited to try out , BUT ,how long does ink last for?
I have a question! When I lay down a drawing in pencil, is there a way to fix it and allow color to come through? Does satin glazing liquid work on drawings or does it smear it? And what would you use in order to keep your drawing down and be able to water color without having the graphite become part of the watercolor?
I'm a professional artist, my advice Xerox copy the pencil drawing.
I bought some brush pens a long time ago but I have been too scared to use them. I'm finally ready to use them thanks to you! I'm wondering what you used to draw the outlines of the images? I'm not sure what to use that won't get ruined by the water.
