I found out a few days ago that I was getting the 48 set of these for Christmas and I was actually really surprised because I love watercolour and brush markers. But I normally use watercolour sheets and alcohol markers. So as soon as I found out I was getting them, I started watching reviews on them. Yours was the first video when I searched up "arteza real brush pens", so I instantly went on it. So thanks for educating on an art supply I didn't even know existed!

Thank you for sharing this. I was just about to buy some water filled brush pens, but I don't know how to use them. To tell you the truth, I don't know how to paint it all, but I'm enjoying coloring on rocks right now. I've been getting into sketching because it's something that is portable and I can take with me, but I love color so it's a dilemma! Hahaha thanks for sharing

The water filled brush pens are AMAZING! I've been using them for yearsss, and I've been working with watercolor since I was a young child. And through all the brands and types and all the different options for watercoloring, I gotta say my favorite is by far the water pens. There is so much you can do with them, and the fact that there are so reusable and easy to clean, makes it that much better lol.
But like I said, there's so much you can do with them that I've been using them for So long and still every time I use them I learn something new :) just takes some time to learn how to use them and get the textures you like mastered.

I LOVE these things omg. They're soooo much fun! They helped me to be more expressive with my art. They were my introduction to watercolor and still a huge part of a lot of my art I do for fun. They just came out with the Glitter ones. I got em on sale for $25 on Amazon. They're such a fun addition to the 96 set.
Arteza had these and the twimarkers which are huge parts of my art. I even love their expert colored pencils, watercolor pencils, their (black version) high quality brush alcohol markers. I know they're a mid tier brand but these brush pens are top notch. Awesome video and excellent tips. I hope more people learn about and love these from this video. You videos are always fun and engaging. I learn a lot. Even on topics and with tools I've used for a long time. Thanks for all you do. 💜

Hi Rebecca (I bet you thought I'd died lol). That was a brilliant video. I have a few Kuretake Zig Real Brush Color Pens and I had no idea I could do so much with them until now. I know you have them too so I was wondering how the Arteza ones compare with them..any good?
By the way, I've discovered a new way to buy colouring books cheap. There are sites that exist (a bit like Music Magpie but they're not in it for profit) that re-sell books that have been donated to them that would normally go to landfill. It's a brilliant concept and I recently bought Russell Grant's Astrology Colouring book for £2.99 (RRP £9.99) and - honestly, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. The paper is fabulous and it's been printed in the UK, which is unusual in itself. I may practice some of those techniques you mentioned..it would be a shame not to wouldn't it?😇

Fantastic tips, the best I’ve found, thank you so much.
I’ve had the 96 set for 3 months and although absolutely loving the colours, couldn’t do anything with then as they wouldn’t blend or layer.
I realised thanks to you it’s my paper...phew, I was using Canson watercolour gummed pad.
But I’ll order some cotman as I can’t wait to use your techniques, love how you use the light colour to pull out and blend...thank you so much as I really didn’t want to give up on this beautiful set.

Oh that's great, so glad I could be of help. Another paper that works pretty well with them is the Arteza Premium (not the expert one) watercolor paper and that works out cheaper than the cotman. I'm just personally not so keen on the texture which is why I prefer the Cotman.

I've used every marker from Kuretake Zigs to Ohuha and Artezas...hands down, the Arteza Waterbrush pens/markers are the best. I am interested in your take on the bendability with the satin finish you suggest. When and HOW do you find it most effectively used?

    • @TheArtSpirits
      @TheArtSpirits  3 ปีที่แล้ว

They blend very easily over the satin finish, even after they've dried as they reactivate so easily. This can also be a downfall as it's difficult to layer when the underneath layer reactivates so easily. So it's best used on papers that where they don't blend well. I've only ever used it with colouring books.

And what would you use in order to keep your drawing down and be able to water color without having the graphite become part of the watercolor?

I have these markers, but i struggle with the right color shades to blend with. I get the concept of blending, but my color choices are always too similar or too different. Has anyone got tips on how to pick the three shades or if water is better to blend?

try to understand colors. For example: most commonly, shades come in cold colors like blue and lights in warm colors like red but whatever complements the other color works!
Get an extra paper and try out different shade and light compilations. Take what you like and not what others think is the best. Some artists experiment with colors a lot. Colors in your artwork also tell some kind of feeling, especially together with certain other colors. So I think the most important part when choosing colors is, how do you feel when seeing this color(s) and what do you want to express with your painting.
Hope I could help you in any way .-.

Also colors make people feel as I already said, but its really individuall for everyone.
For me dark colors like (black), brown, winered and so on are really calming while colors like pink, orange or yellow make me feel nervous. For others these bright colors represent joy and happiness or might calm them down.
So it really would be best to get to know your preferences! :3

Don't you think this takes longer than using the actual watercolour? I bought the 96 set and frankly am quite disappointed. Guess I had too much expectation for it to work like watercolour. If I just consider this as a marker pen, maybe I'll feel better...

They look cool BUT I think the water brush and acrylics or watercolors are way much more eco-friendly than these markers ... we should also think of our impact on the planet ... to much plastic goes waste ! It is driving me crazy .... My friends practice and develop your skills choosing the most eco-friendly ways.

Thanks for this video. I bought a set of 48 and had no idea how to use them. I've watched multiple videos but still couldn't get the hang of it. I'm getting ready to try again and watched this first. I hope it helps.

Can I use floetrol in place of that glaze on my coloring book pages? If not, what can I use? I have a ton of acrylic paints. I'd love to be able to use my watercolors on all the coloring books I have. Thanks!!!
